Amanda is so criminally underrated. She is one of the greatest singers of the genre. Love all her projects!❤🔥
Shes great because she was the vocal training of Simone on Epica and of Floor with After forever. It's like the creator of them style of singing of Simone and Floors
Amanda is amazing! I Just discovered her by watching her project with Exit Eden. Their cover of ''Paparazzi'' blew me away. Floor has been my favorite singer for years so I'm now dying to hear them duet together

I see a lot of people on here claim that Amanda was Simone and Floor’s vocal coach, which she was. However, she did not teach them to sing like some seem to insinuate. I heard her in a podcast interview where she talked about this. She said that because English is not Simone and Floor’s first language, and because all their songs are in English, she basically helped them out when it came to singing certain pronunciation. I thought that was pretty interesting
Of course she did, she’s producer and she has in charge many bands like Epica, After forever, Luca turilli, rhapsody, and she teach the voice even male voice how to aboard the metal with classical music, obviously Simone and Floor has such a great talent to sing classical with pop

people comment on &judge her stage presence &performance, when 99% of them WEREN'T EVEN THERE. the audience have a much more phenomenal experience than a little youtube clip. it's how you make the audience feel.
as for vocals, it's not my domain on knowledge, but they both sound fantastic.
simone is skinny, amanda is voluptuous. and amanda is not fat! i find her incredibly sexy and i'm a woman for god sakes.
she did them an enormous favour and did a mind-blowing job, so just shut the hell up!

@Lokomuz She's not just a 'substitute girl'. This woman is Amanda Somerville. She actually taught Simone Simons, so it follows that she can easily perform Simone's songs.
Amanda has a fantastic voice and on this tour she was totally superb[check out her videos of it]-
- bear in mind only a handful of singers could 'fill in' whilst Simone was ill and it is obvious she commands great respect from not only this band but many others
- in fact Simone has been taught by her

Good to hear that Simone has not left the band like her brother! I can live with the fact that she is ill, and will recover! And "Yes the band is ALL ABOUT" the lead singer! It is not human nature. It is what one is fed through the media. If there was no media your stated opinion would be much different. People are fed to believe that women who are not built any way but slender, are not pleasing to the eyes. This is what is being preached. If fuller women were in the spot light than these slender women, everyone's view would be different. She could have a healthy life style, but this is just how she is designed.
For the record, she has an amazing voice.

@celticyodels I saw them during that tour down in Fort Lauderdale. She did a very good job filling in, and the way she headbanged during Obsessive Devotion....MY GOD.
Wow... that was a lot better than I thought it would be. Listening to Amanda's solo stuff on her MySpace, you wouldn't think she has pipes like that.

That was a greac pick. I'm glad they got her to fill in for Simone. The know her have worked with her she is Simones Trainer. This will only help Epica. Well that and being on tour with Symphony X is not half bad. This is really going to help Epica in the US and Canada. So when Simone is back it will not be as hard to tour in the US and Canada.

While Amanda is not gifted with the amazing voice Simone has, she makes up for it in technique. I think Amanda Somerville is the most skilled female singer in symphonic/progressive/power metal.
The amazing vocals she can pull off with her (frankly, rather ordinary) voice is astounding.
Not to mention her songwriting and compositional talents.
