As a kofas content creator myself. The game failed simply because they didnt listen to the community and i also think they should have worked with content creators. The pull rates were a joke. Which an average person isnt going to spend ÂŁ200 to max out a fighter. You can buy an xbox series s with that or a tv. The game modes were the same not much variation, we dont have a universal ue memory system. The ex change up kit is locked and needed expansion to help f2p players for plugin plant. Theres just so much wrong and its the developers and netmarbles fault for not listening

Except knowing Netmarble will do the same with MFF sooner or later, it doesn't matter when right now. Because the updates and stuff are terrible this year.

KOFAS was a fantastic fighting game transitioned to mobile. I remember playing a lot back then only to get bored, leave then come back after sometime and find a shit ton of new stuff that made character buffing convoluted and too complex to focus on stuff.
I also kept checking the official KOFAS YT for new stuff, returning for the SFV event and then the SF6 event only to find it hella inactive and mainly focus on two new fighters every few months so it seemed to be so low on content with a few and far between deal.
It's annoying that it has to shutdown cause I'd prefer this stuff just goes offline over full termination cause hell it'd be nice to play the game but have it just be stuck where it is with no update after.
Im really curious how kof all stars was doing. I haven't paid attention to it for awhile. I do know it had a crazy amount of collabs. I mean even fighting games can not claim have street fighter, tekken, doa, guilty gear, soul calibur etc to be feature in one game?! Hell they even got wwe wrestlers in the game. So makes you wonder what went wrong

So sad. I used to play kof all star. But its difficult to upgrade characters even though i collected too many rubies.
The game is fun and I still check in every day and play when MFF has it's down time but the gottcha system, the fact that most updates are the same characters with either holiday looks or different year looks, the fact they those looks are completely separate characters that just added to the list of rng, that fact that in order to fully build characters to their max you had to fight the every growing list of rng just made the game hard to get into and that's coming from someone who likes the game and has been here since day one so I can only imagine what it's like for new players
My wallet cries because of the things I did trying to get Orochi Leona...but man. It's crazy to think it's happening...joined cause I love brawlers and King of Fighters. But man, this sucks. Wallet aint crying though. The gambling in this game was BRUTAL.

i tried this game i did like the way you have different factions for using specific teams but I think where it went wrong is how to obtain the characters and if you were endgame user probably nothing to do, also some ways of upgradein characters were complicated like cards and stuff, but it was unique game and I actually was going to try play again,but most of the characters they released were the same just part of a different faction for example orochi97 orochi 67 etc. mff wins!
I always imagined this game not lasting as long as it did, but I'm still more or less surprised that the shutdown notice came in now. They just had the Street Fighter 6 character campaign, if I recall so I kind of figured it was doing its thing and they had a good enough player base to deal with their monetization and progression BS. I guess not with this notice.
I've been an SNK fan since I heard of them playing Ikari Warriors on NES, so the KOF IP holds a special place in my heart. KOFSA itself, not really. A very high quality production, but a really greedy one. Compared to MFF, this one wore that on its sleeve. I think back on it and cringe. It was so slimy.
I hope Netmarble's product management team is paying attention to what made it fail. Like don't be so hard up on screwing players our of their money and you'll be fine.

Nice of them to stop all sales. Reminds me of when just before Marvelâs Avengers Alliance shut down, they gave players infinite premium currency so we were able to unlock every single character.

What happened is it's the most horribly managed mobile game I've ever seen.
Power creep is off the charts. I joked characters would start doing 1 trillion+ damage in Guild Boss 2 years ago. That happened near the end of 2022. I was fucking joking, Nermarble.
PVP is laughably broken. Grapples are so overpowered it's ridiculous. It's nigh-impossible to determine grapplers' hit ranges, and they can often grapple you from halfway across the screen. Many characters had skills that would let them outright ignore yours. Instead of most fighting games where breakers reset the match to neutral, breakers in KOFAS gave you a snowball advantage, which is obviously not balanced design.
Speaking of balance, there isn't any. Most games with PVP/PVE have this problem, but not as bad as KOFAS.
Network connection problems have never been fixed. Your opponent has 9457 ping? They disconnect but you lose the match. In a game with challenges where you need to win live PVP matches 5, 10, 20, 50 times in a row. Good luck.
The only thing Netmarble modernized is their greed. Characters kept getting more and more expensive to make, yet offers were equivalent to what we got YEAR 1.
Banner milestone rewards are the same as ones we got YEAR 1. Useless shit.
No new game modes. It took YEARS to get ONE new Story chapter. Several higher difficulties never came. We kept getting more and more broken characters with nothing to use them in.
The PC client is abysmal. 7DS PC client too.
Netmarble constantly nerfed rewards. Those temporary rubies went from 10K down to 3K. Free Collab characters used to come with a free Special card. They took that away too. Collab and new character Boss Tower rewards steadily got worse. And what makes that worse is that Boss Towers became much harder to do.
Netmarble didn't actually fix problems. They used band-aids. Around the time the Tekken 7 Collab ended, there was an issue that would lock out your roster screen if you tried to use locked character memories to upgrade a character.
Netmarble's solution? Prevent players from using locked memories to upgrade characters.
The problem? Whenever you unlock characters, the game resets the screen back to the top. We have HUNDREDS of character memories. Meaning we had to go through this process hundreds of times to unlock all our memories. Thanks Netmarble.
Bad UI overall. You'd have thousands of cards in your inbox and whenever you claimed one, it would send you to the first page of your inbox again. So if you had 34 pages of cards.....have fun!
The card system is an infinitely worse and more greedy version of cards from Marvel Future Fight. Getting materials to max out 6 star cards was far too slow if you weren't a whale.
In 7DSGC, there are Stamina Cost Down events pretty much every day. In KOFAS, they abandoned doing this YEARS ago, because.....reasons?
Netmarble straight up abandoned content more than once. They began awakening FES, SS, and BS characters and then abruptly stopped and never bothered with it again.
CP is a dogshit and arbitrary game mechanic. Things like Crit Rate and Crit Damage reign supreme for CP, so you had to build characters with those in mind because Netmarble loved gating the hardest/endgame content behind CP requirements. If you don't meet them, your characters deal no damage, take reflected damage, and just die.
Lots of characters want things like HP or a certain DOT damage to have optimal builds. CP forced you to build characters sub-optimally. If you could. Except Collab SS, most SS/BS card sets had dog shit CP, so if you went hard on those characters, it was hard to give them high CP unless you whaled to get Crit Imprint Stones.
The OP system is CP but on steroids. Even if you meet the OP requirements, many characters still suck balls, particularly 99% of characters that aren't of the newest UE rarity. In other words, spend that money boys and girls!
Speaking of characters, KOFAS may be the worst game I've ever played when it comes to keeping characters relevant. Instead of creating more content where we could use older/lower-rarities characters, they took that content away. 99% of your roster is useless. KOFAS is the only mobile game I know where being a veteran is arguably worse unless you're a whale. If you're not a whale, you're better off starting a new account with a fresh ruby farm to use on the latest UE characters, because all your Gold, FES, SS, BS, and many of your EXs are useless anyway.
Certain Imprint Stone options like Poison are literally not available except with money. In Guild Boss, you could get things like Burn, Bleed, Chill, etc. but if you wanted something like Poison? Too bad. Netmarble never put those stones into any difficulty of Guild Boss over the course of years.
Fairly recently, Netmarble updated Guild Challenge and improved the rewards. And that's good, because Guild Challenge rewards were complete ass.
The problem? Netmarble invented a new currency for the new and improved Guild Challenge. So the 300,000 old currency you have laying around? Joke is on you, that shit is still worthless.
KOFAS has been on a decline for years. You know what Netmarble chose to do about it? Make a spinoff fighting game based on the utter dogshit PVP of KOFAS instead of fixing KOFAS. Piss off.
I could go on and on. I made a few videos on the Tekken 7 Collab years ago, and I might do one final KOFAS review before it shuts down, but I'll say this. I've been playing MFF since Denver Nuggets Goliath was meta. I've played KOFAS since Day 1. I witnessed the rise and fall of Star Wars: Force Arena. KOFAS is the worst Netmarble game by a significant margin. This dev team was straight trash.

Used to play it a lot, but i couldnt keep up with the character release, and eventually got bored and only returned for collabs, sad to see another game go,
After they announced the shut down, they basically made it easy to buy certain materials (like elixers which is KOFAS energy for real cheap) as well as giving a free 10 pulls daily and more ways to farm rubies (like MFF crystals). I never had issues with pulls. You just need to know how to budget. I had more issues near the beginning of the game when I was first learning it. They had fun modes like Boss Modes where the more penalty conditions you added the better the rewards. I'm really going to miss the game and I still enjoy the mechanics of the game. Never felt like they went hard on the reflect/invincible/ignore target route that Mff which I feel makes mff not fun to play. Also their version of TL was only 3 matches and would either be knock out one member or all 3 depending on the season. I feel the 10 matches in mff is just to much and I hate even doing it on auto. My goal is to finish up the content by the time Oct 30 roles around and make my peace with the game. I do enjoy logging as I think they had a good QOL balance for the game. Wish MFF would start doing that as I think they have bogged down the game with too many tedious tasks.
KOFAS was great i just didnt have the "time" to play. MFF is my go game to play. The devs better acknowledge that people still consider MFF a " Go to " game to play. T4 selector please. This game will only fail if long time players fall too far behind .
I wonder if it's possible for this game to become an offline game with offline multiplayer...It's just too hard to let go, 6 years... and I haven't caught up to the main story...

DC Legends (DC Comics' mobile game) was technically making every items in the store to be free, giving the whole players opportunity to build almost every characters as max as possible, few weeks before it's going shutdown.

all I can say SLA has a major role to play behind this shutdown. Small development team of NM can not cope up with the vast updates SLA is bringing regularly. As a result, cutting down the games to free up staffs. KOAFS & KOF Arena both are shutting down. I would cautiously observe their other games if i was a player. Anyways, thanks for making this video.

Ive played it nearly as much as future fight but i quit after a few years cuz it was just so much rng and basically they went worse than MFF. This was MFF but they added like Tier 4 5 and 6 and the heroes are only locked on specific tiers while making you rely on rng on rolls to get any upgrades. (At least marvel future fights rng was only toward card stars for pierce and the amount of resources you get playing the game. The other rng aspects on mff is practically just for completion or going overkill damage)

Expected wishy-washy announcement for this. "Difficulty maintaining the game" Some partial truth maybe because what that translates to is company is not really supporting the devs as much/making cutbacks. "Lack of characters to use in content" No. Like Future Fight they can always create custom content for their game. It does not need to be patterned exclusively after the source material. Reality: Markets, money and margins. Because the investors always have the final say in everything and at some point a thing is just not seen as solvent enough.
Too many examples but let's say Fox Pictures past tense since Deadpool And Wolverine is highlighting it. The day comes. It just is life. Imo the only Android I ever got sad about was Avengers Academy and only that I loved it so much and it wasn't that it ended it was they removed it entirely. I imagine players felt that way about The Wizard of Oz Facebook game.
Else in MFF news noting that departure from PC support, which is relatively new for Google Play but that suggests they will not be going forward with the next move nor be sending it over to full OS as Star Wars Galaxy Of Heroes is doing. That suggests in turn the idea is to micromanage Future Fight, anything but expansion which while not in the near future does signify an end point has been established. By their demeanor I think they are planning on meeting next years contractual obligations and likely at least aiming to achieve a 10 year anniversary.
It also notable that Disney recently announced it will be scaling back Marvel related releases and projects. This would be us entering the downslope of the standard roller coaster shaped market that surrounds super hero comic related media.

If I can remember I also filled out a survey with MFF as one of the names listed under action rpgs, can't remember if it's for afk journey or genshin impact. Either way, MFF is not going away sooner
KOF had probably the best character gache system imo. as a f2p i was able to get most if not all characters and the strong meta characters too. only shit thing was the character building towards the end it became too confusing and grindy

King of Fighters All Stars: from my experience during the years of play but i was casual
1- bad rate of characters of banners so it becomes expensive like P2W
2-need many copies ( many do same but for reason 1 it is worse)
3-many same characters just boosted or given new upper category or stage
4-low income
5-the game was good but the development was not interesting to keep playing like MFF or have bigger target.
actually it surprised me that it last for this long since the content was limited.
The amount of content creators for a mobile game is crazy which means it's still strong

Marvel Future Fight has shown the best potential of characters (especially Dark Phoenix) when it comes to powers, skills, and attacks, which should be considered for future Marvel games (especially Marvel vs Capcom).
