    People will blow money on OF,Doordash,Hot Cheetos & Jordans,etc but the concept of buying music is wild to some smh. Don't complain the state of music when you don't support those making the art you claim to love.

      We don’t do any of those things to support the companies lol we do it for ourselves lol we pay for music too, but not to support the artist, for self consumption. It’s an ease of access thing

      nah ive been releasing music for 6 years and its just greedy to put your music behind a paywall. fans already support artists in so many other ways, they shouldnt have to pay just to hear what the music sounds like. look at Bones for instance, he got rich off rap and never sold a single song. he made all his money on merch, concerts, and streaming revenue

    As one of the few people who still "sails the high seas" for music, there is honestly nothing these musicians can do for me to purchase music. C-19 and the financial crisis has really put into perspective what I spend money on and one of the casualties is music. I can't justify spending money on music, besides an occasional concert which is more so an experience.

      In that case we just need better, updated copyright laws. Japan is the gold standard when it comes to this. Piracy has always been a legal first and foremost.

    Not a chance in hell I’m paying 5 dollars a month for ONE artist music when could pay Spotify, Apple Music, or CZcams for millions of songs.

    the value provided would have to be physical for me, thats why i use youtube to discover music for free and then buy physicals. unless its my friend's music that's just digital then i'd probably buy their digitals to support it

    someone could just screenrecord all the songs and put them somewhere for free, i don't know how this would work. james even said he wouldn't have a problem with people screenrecording the songs

    I think as a music artist its on you to diversify your streams of income to build a career off of it - other artists like photographers do a lot of services like portraits, weddings, landscapes and architecture photos etc. - I think the same goes for music artists

    There are subscription models that won’t charge you when nothing releases during the subscription period. E.G. $5 /month IF something drops that month, no charge if nothing drops. I think that would work pretty well for musicians IF they were to drop tapes/collections at once rather than a constant feed of singles.

    So yeah I definitely don't mess with this this screams like a marketing ploy to make money from the label cause no matter what the label ALWAYS gets they cut no matter what you decide to think people need to understand these contracts are basically 360 Deals so everything goes back to them he probably owns a small percent I very well could be wrong but I try and think logically but either way him saying its expensive to make music YEAH if your IN THE INDUSTRY music is super expensive but if your independent or maybe take the time to learn how to do it yourself he would see its not bad and wouldn't be whinning to me this just sound like I need more money from you ITS NOT OUR FAULT you decided that life nor are people obligated too support that so you know what these industry artist begging for money in every way are kind of like parasites to be honest but this all just my opinion. (Edit: This coming from someone who has fun with music all for free besides buying simple equipment Microphone, Laptop/Computer, Headphones, and a simple app I use audacity and that can run you like 400-600 dollars)

    Shiid like suggestive access, if I feel the money I spend can give me access to a artist creative process I would do it, or if I feel It was like an investment when I can benefit some how I would.

    group buy idea not bad. kind of like box sets idea. Peep who bought bandcamp and how its changed over the years. GL if you are actually a musician trying to figure this all out. In the end, it all leads to the emerald city. Follow the yellow brick road and you will find the answers you are looking for.

  • @facelessnameless
    @facelessnameless Před měsícem

    This is crazy unrealistic but if your monthly subscription accrued over time and created a currency through which you could order physical products. Like if I paid $5 for 6 months I’m already getting the album when it comes out, almost like a preorder but off your credit, which is built through the subscription over time.
