"A piece of wood is like a blank canvas to me"
" I do a lot of studying and planning before I even start to carve"
"Bit by Bit, I've got to remove the excess wood to reveal the subjects, inside"
"I always worry that I will take too much wood off too quickly"
"So, I like to just slow down, and have fun with it!"
"Carving Rattlesnakes is getting easier for me to do. But carving the mouse on the top of this stick is going to be the real challenge."
"The little clay sculpture will help very much to get me started, but it will not be good enough to show me how to carve the details."
"My dog, Pearl, and I, decided to see if we could catch a little mouse so I could study him closely."
"It really helped me to have a live model to look at. This made it possible for me to see details that do not show up well in reference photos."
"Pearl thought that because she was the one who found the little mouse, that she should be able to keep him. Haha! She sure hated to see him go!" - Jak na to + styl
Awesome video Mike and family, so great to see a video from you all again. Your sticks get better with every single one. Using some of the classic tunes too! 👍🏻 I like that one we collaborated on. That’s awesome you caught that mouse and I was wondering what was going to happen when he/she decided to make a run for it, Pearl was itching for a chase. Ha ha as always tell everybody I said howdy. I’ll talk to you soon my friend

I haven't seen anything so detail and accurate hand-made art. This is the epitome of perfection. This is as close a man can get to nature in terms of carving. This is the definition of beautiful. This is it. Man, you deserve a whole category of award & recognition. Words couldn't come close to what I'm feeling right now. Your humbleness and purity defeat & conquer em all. Beautiful man, so beautifu.l
Thank you very much!
my friend. and always a pleasure to see you working in the company of your inseparable dog, your love for animals and nature, shows us that you are a great man congratulations.
Just amazing God gave you a special gift sir. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you, Robert!
You are truly an inspiration. You have an amazing talent.
Thank you kindly!
Going through all of your vids slowly, I just love how you do them, I also really enjoy watching them, pearl seems like she's a lovely dog, she makes me smile so much, great work yet again👏👌
Beautiful videos can watch them all day
Absolutely stunning as always. A true master. I live in Scotland and we have epic views like that also, and especially in the winter when it snows. It's definitely my favourite time of year.
PS; Your little dog is sooooo adorable .
This is complete harmony.👍
There`s no-one who takes so much patience and time to make such a brilliant form of art as you Mike, you also know your wildlife, I mean, you knew the little mouse was going to behave like it did, running round your shoulders with no fear that you had caught it!!! It was a magical moment and little Pearl trying to catch it too, so funny. Thank you for your wonderful videos, and also your wife and daughters, God bless and regards from John in England have a great weekend all.
Thank you, John! The mouse really helped me a lot to see details, and it gave me more confidence to carve it. There's just nothing like a live subject to study from. Pearl thought I caught it just for her, and didn't want him to get away, haha! The family says thank you! I hope you are having a great weekend, and God bless you too, my friend!
You keep improving every time. Not only the carving but the videos as well. I look forward to every one.
Thank you very much, Grant!
Just one word!!! Beautiful!!!
Once again greetings from South Africa, thank you so much Mike, loved that. Pearl is so funny, so keen to catch that little mouse. Love her, take care and be safe
Thank you, Val! Pearl sure did like the little mouse! : )
I cannot say how much your videos is relaxing and amazing.
I watched your channel for the first time a few days ago. My God! You sir, are an excellent wood carver and artist. I subscribed, and watched five or six shows in a row. I’ve always loved making walking sticks and always loved snakes. You put the two together so well, it about brought tears to my eyes. Excellent work. Mahalo from Hawaii.
Thank you very much, Brian! I appreciate that you enjoy my videos!
I love your videos, Mike! As a matter of fact, I was watching your Green Momba walking stick one as you replied to me. You are one seriously talented guy and an inspiration to us that are just getting into wood carving. I’ll be watching your stuff all night again it seems. Aloha.
Haha! Thanks again, Brian!
Шикарное, трудоёмкое творение. Безупречная работа!

Dear sir, it’s always very inspiring to see you working. Cheers from France...
I'm glad to see you wearing gloves this time and keeping your fingers back. Nice work.
I was wearing gloves to keep mouse the mouse germs off. Haha! Thanks brother!
Stinnett Sticks I was guessing it was the temperature. I know I like to have my bare hands on the wood when I carve. Another masterpiece.
Wow all I can say is this was just"Unbelievably unbelievable"!!!
Thank you, Thomas!
Your painting skills are as amazing as your carving skills. Blows me away with all the detail😱
Love from India...
Hello Stinnett, it's always a very good job..
C'est un vrai plaisir de vous regarder travailler en vous amusant avec votre petite chienne dans de magnifiques paysages et même chez vous...

Hey man u do fantastic work I just wish I could afford a walking stick I'm a handicapped vet. And on a fixed income but that's ok I love your gift of vision to make the best out of an ordinary piece of wood........

Easiest like ever. Wow, fantastic carving as usual of a Master of highest class possible.
Thank you, Ronnie!
Hello Mike just watched this, as always you have captured nature once again, even with gloves on, love how you carve snakes but another favorite of mine is the field mouse, the realism is breathtaking, since I discovered you a little over a week ago I have watched almost every video you & your family have put out there, I have also spread your name throughout my family & friends like a match to dry kindling! You are simple one of Mankinds finest creatures,
And your state of Oregon has always been a place I wanted to live, so majestically beautiful & peaceful it was only seen in my dreams until now, thank you Mike for sharing your talents, your home, and your critters to those who can appreciate it.
Take care brother 😎👍🇺🇸
Thank you very much, Jack! I appreciate you kind comment! Thanks for spreading the word to friends and family!
@@StinnettSticks No problem Mike, but got to ask what size bullet shell is that you use for the eyes, very ingenious technique and are the shells the same for the snakes as they are for the mouse? When I did my carving on my peace pipe yrs back I used round ball stick pins for my snakes eyes, that I set in li'l pockets I made with the head of a drill they never fell out & are still there today. 😎✌
That's how life happens - you get into a mousetrap, and in honor of this sculpture will do. Very beautiful work as always! +
Haha! It's the least I could do for the mousel. He served me well! Thank you Alexander!
Excellent! The live model was a clever touch, even though it turned out to be somewhat frustrating for Pearl the Wonder(ful) Dog.
Fantastic, super, bravo.
This channel and Li Ziqi’s channel are like two sides of the same coin that together satisfy my dreams of a beautiful simple life in nature
nice walking Sticks as always.....

Bonjour Monsieur,
Do you know that you are awesome! Your sculptures are of a realism ❤
I own snakes, and I'm convinced he'd let himself be carried away by your mouse. 😂
Haha! Thank you, Andre!
Wonderful job my friend. Love from Idaho
Thank you, Missy!
Beautiful work, greetings from Spain

Incredible work as always! Whenever I've had a tough week, I always find myself rewatching one of your masterpieces. Thanks for the insight, and for charing your work with others Mike!
The details are just unbelievable.Am speechless with your creativity.wish i had 1/10 of your art gift.
Man I'm just now seeing this channel and it is so relaxing you are the best wood Carver ever
Thank you!
When you were a child, your mother would give you chocolate. You wait, wait to open and delight in the content, well I did this with this video, I resisted as much as I could. I made a delicious cup of coffee today, I opened a chocolate, and I delighted. It is amazing to see you find in the heart of the tree the beauty that is the wildlife. Congratulations...
You are an extraordinary person.
Another great piece of art
Thanks, Ed! Good talking to you today!
Loved seeing a little bit of your clay process, incredible job as always!
Another great video
Thank you, Eric!
Wow... they look so realistic... as if the wee mouse is going to jump off the walking stick right now! You're doing a great job there, keep going!
☺🖒
Beautiful. Awesome perfection. Your rattlesnake looks so real he scares me a little and your cute little mouse is so adorable that he shows no fear. Love this video. Pretty chilly out. Pearl running around seems not to care. She's a great dog. You don't seem to mind the cold either. Thank you so much for sharing and God bless you and your family.
Thank you Ruth! I'm looking forward to warmer weather. God bless you too!
@@StinnettSticks Hate to tell you. But it has been summer. 80-85° in the afternoon and 70's at night. I've had the AC on for the last two weeks. My electric bill is going to be high. When I was young Florida whether didn't bother me and I was cold. Now that I am old winter is not cold anymore to me and summer lasts ten months. I've never lived anywhere else and I was born here. Where you live is very beautiful too. The mountains in your videos are beautiful. Well you take care and keep making videos and Beautiful walking sticks. And I'll be watching. Thank you, Ruth
Не перестаю удивлятся таланту,трудолюбию и любви к природе этого человека.

As always SUPER....!!!
Wow, time, patience and pure skill👍subscribed
Thank you very much and I appreciate the sub!
Spectacular work once again. Might have to give carving a mouse a try at some point too.
Thank you! A mouse lure would work great for catching pike!
@@StinnettSticks bass or big trout will go for a mouse too
Lovely job Mike. I can see the benefit the live specimen has had, as you've really ramped up the life-like detail on this one. I guess it's understandable that you might not want to get a live rattlesnake for study :D
Thank you, Matt! It really helped a lot to be able to study the mouse closely. No, I don't want to study a rattler closely, haha!
beautiful work, always amazing to watch your videos 😎👍
Watching your video it's like meditation
