  • In this video Professor Baur talk about what they found in the lab with respect to NAD levels and cancer and also how much NAD is optimal.
Joseph Baur is an Assistant Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. He is one of the world’s leading NAD researchers. Dr. Baur performed his postdoctoral studies with Dr. David Sinclair at Harvard Medical School where he developed a strong interest in the regulation of aging and metabolism by sirtuins, which require NAD as a co-substrate. A major focus of his lab is on understanding how changes in NAD metabolism contribute to aging,

Great interview especially the affirmation that youthful levels of NAD in mice do not in result in more cancer deaths. Sorry for the off topic but I enjoyed a new longevity paper "No evidence of physiological declines with age in an extremely long-lived fish" is OPEN in yesterday's Scientific Reports.

Good to know about the effect of boosting NAD levels on cancer. Thank you.

Hello Richard. Just a suggestion. Next time you talk about NAD+ levels, ask to specify if they are talking about intracellular or plasma NAD+, as well as the location where they measured the NAD level, i.e., muscle, liver, etc.

Thanks good information. Oh I think you need to do something about the microphone always sounds like you’re blowing on it, I have noticed this in quite a few of your videos when you do interviews. The prof sounds perfect.

Hi Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully we have fixed the audio for future videos

It really does make sense, as we get older greater the chance we get cancer,if we are young and already have cancer we know it spreads faster than it does in older people, so if we want to reduce cancer by aging we take nmn, but we must be careful not to cause cancer in other ways, careful that we don't already have it, and if we have some suspect gene for cancer not sure to take or not to take nmn

@@ModernHealthspan so I’m confused will NAD trigger tumor? how we going to know if we already have tumor or cancer cells

Thank you for your videos which we have greatly enjoyed. But I found this one very difficult to understand. I have listened to all Brad Stanfield's videos on the topic, and the David Sinclair videos that tough on it, especially his video of today. But I feel I missed something. Perhaps the take home here is just that we do not yet know if Ca hijacks the mechanisms that in a pre-cancer state had protected us from CA. ( Autophagy, and NAD) Since apparently we all have nascent, pre- or actual cancer cells in our bodies...dar we take NMN? Raise our NAD? Even exercise?

Good point. I still think the answer 2 years later from what I have read is itcan be really dangerout still with regard to Cancer

Hi Rja, Thanks for your comment. It is a new and rapidly evolving field. I do hope that we will get more clarity soon.
