Condolences. Having spent some time with a woman 24 years older I understand. Connections are more than just age. You can never forget just learn to move on, sadly.
This storyline made me feel so uncomfortable. Luke had JUST become an adult and that woman, who is as old as his mom, made a move on him and bragged about having a young, hot boyfriend. And before people start: it’s not at all comparable with Haley and Reiner or Jay and Gloria. Haley was older with already quite a bit of experience. And Gloria was a mother in her 30s when she met Jay. But this relationship felt like Luke was groomed.
@@randomcon123 if a 50+ year old man was dating an 18 year old girl AND was her first serious boyfriend you bet I would feel just as uncomfortable. Also, while Luke was of age, he was still very much behaving like a teen and the show constantly made fun about how gullible he is. She is also not the first older woman taking advantage (or trying to) of him. This relationship was just not good and felt seriously unbalanced. Also, if the writers so badly wanted for Luke to date an older woman she didn’t have to be THAT much older. 10-15 years, okay; but not a woman almost thrice his age, who could LITERALLY be his mother.
The writers create elaborate nonsensical situations and the very specific type that leads to miscommunication at key moments when true facts are revealed but their different contexts and point of view obscured the intended interpretation the other wants to convey. This will never truly happen in such a crazy way in real life, but the actors sell it sincerely without overdoing it and somehow make it work within the world as if it’s not a sit com. The actors make it work with real commitment to their own characters viewpoint but understanding the viewpoints of the other and how to react as if they didn’t know or share the same understanding of facts and what they imply to them. Each character are set in their motivations and concerns, and the writers position them and navigate them to lead to a nonsensical situation that somehow makes sense and is coherent.
