#fujifilm #xt3 #camera - VÄda a technologie
I can't believe you are bashing Sony! I am so outraged, that this is the last time I ever watch your channel today... I will be back bright and early tomorrow to watch more of your content. ; )
:-)
:))
Took me on a trip there XD
Fujifilm > Sony ... in any single direction!
Fujifilm is better than Sony since X-T2.
2 years on and these videos are strongly tipping me towards this camera. I'm not at the all singing all dancing full frame stage inmy career yet, but I think this would be a fantastic upgrade from my current 2013 canon Sl1. Also subtly these XT3 / 4 cameras are picking up in adoption among creators.
Great undoing of the X-T3. If there's one company that puts everything they have without compromise in a APSC, it's Fuji. Thanks for pointing out these 7 features.
If it had IBIS it would be game over.
@@Almansa403s XT4 will have IBIS and there'll be no XH2
@@EnterSpacebar Not sure about that. Fuji seems to want to keep its non-IBIS camera line distinct from its IBIS line to satisfy those people who don't want IBIS. And it doesn't look like Fuji has found the secret sauce yet to shoehorn IBIS into an XT-3 size of body. I think we can expect an eventual release of a X-H2 body, though.
@@doogieham maybe they will implant EIS into the x-t3 with a firmware update
@@doogieham this didnt age well
I don't know who is on the Fuji design/development/implementation team but they "get it". Wow. Impressed. All those things you mentioned make sense. I know this has almost become a trope at this point but Canon, for example, will seem to say "here, you get this" or "we read on a forum you guys like this.....fine! have this" haha but these are forward-thinking common sense features added by Fuji...well done Fuji!
Yeah, I agree. They definitely seem to listen well to their customers.
I think the dials on the camera alone attest to this. I've been using an Olympus EM5ii for a couple of years now. When I first picked up a Fujifilm camera last year, I couldn't even figure out how to use it. When I read up and saw what they had done, I just had to go back and try it.
It was dead simple. Everyone else that I know of has a mode dial. Fuji makes it obvious that that the dial makes no sense now. On a Fujifilm camera, in the default state, everything is is auto mode. If you want to just change the aperture, you do that. You turn the aperture dial from "a" to whatever f-stop you want. One controller for one function. Ditto for shutter speed and ISO. Each of them is a dial, and you change the one you want. All the others adjust automatically -- unless you set those manually as well. It is just as easy to go full manual too. There is still one less dial to change compared with mode-dial cameras.
And it is all done via clicky, mechanical dials. It is damned-near perfect.
I'm not going to sell my Olympus gear and change over to Fujifilm for this. I can do everything on my em5ii. it's just not as intuitive. I'd also like to see in-body image stabilization on the X-T line. The IBIS on my em5ii is mind blowing for how it changes my handheld limits..
I *am* reconsidering my plans to get a Ricoh GR2 or 3 for convenient street photography because of Fuji's mode-dial-less design, though. The Fujifilm X100T or X100F (Third and Fouth, respectiveluy) line is almost double the price of Ricoh's GR series, but it does have better optics, and at 35mm as opposed to 28 equivalency focal length on the GR. And, it has that FujiFilm interface!
Edit: Reading more, the GR3 may actually have a sharper focus than the X100F, it has IS, and it is considerably lighter/smaller.
Another GREAT piece of work, Gerald!
Thanks, Hugh! Much appreciated.
Gerald is a treasure, Hugh, as you are as well! Best, Stephen

You nail it..... thanks. You even mention things I've never even thought about. Love it......
This is a great video! Fuji is all about design and puts so much into every camera.
Love this video! Great points throughout! Some of them I didnât even realize were unique to Fuji...
fantastic and many thanks for sharing this.
thanks for answering most of my questions reagrding the video options available with this camera...
Great Video. Showing the examples, not just talking about them is wonderful!
Nice video!! just recently got the XT-3 and info like this is very helpful!!!
I'm enjoying your concise style of presenting camera information, nicely done đ
Thanks! Appreciate that.
Details are important with so many options out there. Great video!
Thanks, Affonso!
Great review, thanks!
Very good video! Thx!
Very nice sharing! This is the actual in depth review that like no other!
Really appreciate your point of view about catching photo manufacturers doing things right! Thanks.
Thanks so much!
Great video Gerald!
Firmware updates were a strong advantage of Fujis over other brands I'm glad that you get to like these cameras more and more! thank you for your honesty! keep up the good work
I am so glad that you have focused this video on some of those "little" features that make this camera a joy to work with and is ultimately what makes us want to go out and shoot. The one thing I hate the most, with any camera, is having to battle because of a design flaw. Great review, thank you.
Thanks, James! I agree with you completely.
Always getting useful informations I need to know from you!!! Thx!!!
Glad to hear it! Thanks.
Your videos are loaded with useful, interesting information. I also enjoy that you move around the manufacturers and talk about a variety of topics. There are million subscriber channels that canât compare. Thanks.
Thanks so much! That's very nice of you to say.
Just got my first XT3.. I am conan user.. started to fall in love with Fuji
It seems like such a small thing but that tally light on the XT3 is one of the best features. Iâve ruined videos before with the camera either not recording or stopping recording without me knowing it. Having that light makes it so much easier đ
Agreed. A little tally light goes a long way. đ
Art Of Hookie there is, called the gaffer tape
Art Of Hookie Thereâs gaffer tape thatâs a bit transparent so that can make the light dimmer
Agree completely but fully articulating screen would serve the same purpose and then some, and they already have one on the entry level X-T100 so why wouldnât they put it on this??
Current features of the X-T3 + no recording limit + ibis + flip screen would be my dream setup. Hopefully coming on the X-H2! In the meantime I might have to pick up an X-T3 because itâs a phenomenal camera as is.
Dual tally lights on the X-H1, and ibis also a real boon for video
Nice to see you talking Fuji!
Congrats on 40000 your channel really has been getting momentum. I get sad thinking about the days my comments go without hearts or likes đ
Thanks, Cody! Appreciate the support. Cheers!
Love this video. [Hits like button twice.]
Oooh, these are all really nice things.
Opening line suggestion: "Where am I going, and why am I in this handcart?". Great summary of distinctive positives, thanks.
I liked the video so much !!!
I liked twice ;D
The X-T3 is a beast and I want one even more now.
Fuji really did a great job with this little gem, I played with it for a couple of days and loved it. Although I didn't have enough time with it to find the quirks that I always end up finding for my workflow.
Glad to see you're feeling better! (at least you sound better lol) Cheers!
Thanks, Gerardo! I do feel much better, yes. đđ
Except for the lack of IBIS, there's not must else you could list under either the sins of commission or the sins of omission. For the price I don't think it has any equal---signs of things to come from Fuji---awesome company and consistent in their practice of Kaizen---the secret of great products and great service.
Nice work buddy
Nice video! all this 7 points are important thingâs đ
I like what you did with this video as you did with the EOS R video. You brought out what a company has done well instead of what they don't do. This and the Canon EOS R videos use positive reinforcement with the hope that each company keeps doing it. With competition between the brands you never know. Someone else may pick up on a great feature. This would make us all winners no matter what brand we use. Once again, Great job.
Thanks, Phil! I completely agree. It's great for us as the consumers.
That dual mic adjustment is incredible. I do the exact same thing talking out loud for notes
during test clips. So smart
I bought the Ninja V for my sony a7iii and became your subscriber. I like my sony but Iâve been debating on the XT3. Watched tons of reviews but havenât decided. After watching this, I am leaning towards to the Xt 3 a lot. Thanks for the great tips!!
Thanks again !
Great points...good for Fuji.
Great points, thank you for the summary. I want to mention that most of your mentioned points do also apply to the Fuji XH1: eg. implementation of HDMI info display, button layout, dual mic level adjustments, tally lights. XT3 seems like a really good option. I am awaiting the announcement of XH2 or a camera with XT3 features and IBIS.
Aonther excellent video, Gerald. Once again, your clear, rational, and logical thought-process is accurate, informed and insightful. ! I would say the other thing that Fujifilm is really good at, #8, is listening to informed, intelligent customers like yourself. And then, most importantly, acting on it. Cheers and best regards, Stephen
Thanks, Stephen! You're far too kind. Very much appreciated.
Great video! You sound much better too!
Thanks! Yeah, I feel better. Thanks for caring. đ
I bought this camera recently for my v-log!
Great little vid! I sure canât wait for an XH2!!!
Apparently not in 2019 though...
ibis is for idiots.
I can't believe they won't release it in 2019, like fujirumors is saying! The price on Amazon for the X-H1 has fallen as low as 1150 euro (from over 1900 euro), which is way below the price for the X-T3 (around 1500 euro)
Thanks, Dave!
Me, too, Dave! I *love* my X-H1, its my "go-to" pro workhorse, and I love its superb image quality.
thank you!!
I have an A7III and everytime I see a video about the XT3 it makes me want to buy it.
Thanks to YOU the XT-3 is now seriously in the running for my video camera and not the dated A72.
Great overview Gerald. Fuji has really put in the time & effort to make helpful features and options. This is not the case for some other camera brands!
I really appreciate this video. Those are all the things i wanted to know, as far as external recording functions, compared to Sony. great job!
Awesome! I'm glad. Thanks for commenting.
Fuji fam here! I have been shooting Fuji for 3 weeks and I don't see myself ever moving to a different camera brand.
@Naraton I shot 4k for 38 minutes last night. Camera did not shut off. Although it got warm. But note that I do use a battery grip so....
week 3 here. it's... just... so... perfect... đđ€©đ·
G9 is a beast, minus extreme low light
@@MrDro1128 Especially the AF đ
Anthony Meza that emoji makes it seem like sarcasm. AF on the G9 is fantastic
Haha I know the feeling. Somehow, Fujis make you appreciate them the longer they've been with you. I only had the X-T2 for a couple of weeks during a trip last year but it was a blast.
nice video đ
OK Iâm sold! I was before this video but had some concerns...great video thanks Gerald!
Today is the first day of the rest of your life... welcome. Don't forget to buy yourself a 23mm f2 WR. will use other lenses eventually, i promise... but i still haven't used the kit lens. đđ·
Thanks, Daniel! And Punk is right, the 23mm f/2 is pretty great. I'm using it right now!
23mm f2 WR it will be!
Great review! This camera has pretty much everything a video shooter might ask for save for IBIS
"It's not Pantene, it's the lighting". Hilarious!!! Nice video. Subscribed! Fuji rocks!
Thanks, Brad! Happy to have a new subscriber! Cheers.
I been waiting on X-H2 but couldn't wait. So, ended up buying X-T3 and will save up for X-H2. X-T3 is phenomenal camera!!! Best camera I ever owned so far. Owned Fujifilm bodied starting with X-T1 (2014), X-T2 (2017), X-E1 (2017), X-T100 (2018) and now X-T3 (2019). Looking forward to get GFX in the future. Fujifilm has brought the fun back in photography and now it gets serious!
Wow, another pithy and excellent video!!! Thanks, Jay
Thanks, mate!
Just picked up the X-T3 and love it! Still keeping the a7III, but that may change once the X-H2 comes out.
which one choice if someone want get first camera ?
Awesome. In my view the best Video slr so far.. :)
Definitely a contender. But remember, it's not an SLR... it's mirrorless. đ
You can make further enhancements to button layout: remove all functions from arrow buttons around the main menu button. I found myself hitting them accidentally all the time, when changing lenses.
Something to keep an eye out for and I found this out when shooting an interview with the X-t3. You can't monitor the audio from the camera when recording to the atomos monitor. You can see the meter moving but can't hear anything! But when I un-plugged the HDMI, I can monitor the audio again. So I just monitor the audio from the monitor itself and kept it moving.
I love the tilting portrait orientation of the LCD, I wish Sony A7 series can do that
@@jeffrendered3564 yep, still same form factor, with added functionality. Lets hope A7IV or A9II will adds tilting portrait orientation so we don't turn into pretzels =)
Lol, thanks! People keep talking about the lack of a flip screen for vloggers but I love Fujifilmâs tilting screen, Itâs perfect for many people I think, basically for everyone that doesnât vlog. And yeah, some flipping screens can also tilt vertically but the screen is flipped out on the side then while the Fujifilm screen is always nice and tight on the back of the camera.
@@Fabio-rg9nv looking at Lumix S1 / S1R and i'm jealous with the LCD screen...
Fuji is really kicking some serious a$$ with the features you get especially at the price point. They had my curiosity with their design (that classic look) but they have my FULL ATTENTION based the features.
I have to get my hands-on one, I have an X adapter and want to mount some vintage on this and play around with the split prism focusing system.
Nice video Gerald.
Thanks, Mark!
@@geraldundone Well thanks for going a bit deeper into the meta. Only made me want to get my hands on one more lol.
Congrats on 40 k buddy, saw you on f-stoppers earlier today! Boom
Thanks for another excellent video. I really really like the X-T3, and if I didn't already have 5 cameras, I probably would've gotten it. Darned hobby....
Great video, first video i see from your channel. Im subscribing.
Thanks, Albert! Happy to have a new subscriber.
â@@geraldundonewill be buying an XT3 pretty soon and today I decided to look at some videos about the XT3 again. (Gotta wait to get the money in first and also get a hands on look at the different options on the used market)
:)
This is super helpful- as a creator, itâs easy to think âIâve already covered this topic, why should I do it again?â But youâve done it well, itâs useful, and now, itâs timely, as weâre all kind of expecting the X-T4 to be announced later this month. If it is, (and it includes IBIS), Iâm totally buying it. If not, Iâll find a gently used X-T3. Thanks, man.
I love my X-T20, the shooting experience is stellar and the Fuji lens lineup is superb. The x-trans sensor, however, not so much. In fact, Iâll be reverting to a bayer array sensor because of this.
1-7: it's not.
JOKING. Joking, people.
Great review!
buttons are like that on the Z6 also and i love it
Hahah, dude you just put an XT-3 on my short list. Another great vid, thanks Gerald!
Ha. Thanks! Happy to help. đ
Gerald Undone well...you know how you can REALLY help?? LOL...Iâm going crazy deciding between a GH5, a G9, an EOS R, or...UGH!
Did you watch any of the vids on my channel?
I film run and gun vlog style most of the video then setup on tripod for only a few clips. So I really need a flip out screen, 120fps, and something that makes sense for my (actually) brain damaged, overloaded with 6 kids and 3 companies, never sleeping brain!!
I miss using my Gh4 but hated the autofocus...I LOVE THE A7iii autofocus, but hate using it because of the user interface and not having a flip out screen..oh and BTW, I love MFT, and donât care about sensor size, Iâm confident in my manhood :)
@@healing2gether If autofocus is important the new a6400 might be a decent pick. It's got the front facing screen now.
Gerald Undone true, it does have everything else I would want out of a vlog style video camera...but 4K only to what, 30fps?
I love Panasonic cameras...there, Iâve said it!
Do you feel confident in the autofocus of your G9 to shoot this style video...

Yep this X-T3 is awesome !!!
I really like mine ;)

You are the only person I have seen point these features out with regards to output options. Excellent and very straight to the point video. One question. The delay on the HDMI. How bad is it and what settings can improve the performance?
It's not bad at all. Less than 1/4 of a second. You can kinda see in the video how it basically matches the LCD when using a short cable.
@@geraldundone I see that you are also a Sony A73 owner. I have 3 Canon C100 cameras and they are starting to show their age with regards to lack of slow mo, dynamic range and 4k so looking to move into something smaller and multitalented. A7 3 vs XT3 ... would you mind putting them side by side for EOS adaptability, usability and image out of cam and graded. Allot of work i know but would help allot of us older gear users move into 2019... with our 2008 gear haha. I think the EOS R and RP are a write off for me at this point as the feature set etc is overpriced.
The Sony HDMI/Face detection issue has been destroying my workflow for too long - thanks for clarifying the Fujiâs HDMI out awesomeness! I use my camera plugged into my Mac so I can use it as a monitor but record internally so this is perfect. FLog or HLG internal and Eterna over HDMI.
I always loved your explanation, please give me recommendation, gh5 or xt-3 for photo & video usage? What do you think? Thanks
Great job Gerald !!! I just need one update... when shooting in 5X slow motion I cannot access my focus speed from the custom button I set for it. I like a smooth pull while shooting normal frame rates and that becomes an ultra slow pull without a menu dive . Just a small inconvenience but I canât wait to see Aprilâs update!!!
Thanks so much! I'm excited for the next update too.
Love, love, love my X-T3 and all my Fuji glass - but now I'm working hard to avoid buying a b-camera from another brand until the X-H2 comes around. Hopefully I can hold my breath that long.
Jared Polin is the only freak who complains about Fuji menu and prefer the sony menu....lol Great vĂdeo, well undone!
Fuji menus aren't good, but they are better than Sony's.
I hate your channel because your level of knowledge is fucking off the hook. I donât know if I should stop taking photographs or strive to be better? đ€Ș Amazing content dude. How you present these technical concepts is so beautifully done. It took me awhile to get into your content and now Iâm hooked. Tx for the amazing work and for pushing us to become better. Bravo!
Thanks, Gavin! I really appreciate that. Thanks for the kind words. đđ
It's not Pantene but the lighting! that's a winner!
damn, Fuji has really done it. this is like the ultimate camera for filmmakers
I like the Fuji X-T3 dials.
I'm really tempted to get the X-T3, but then I have to invest in Fuji glass.
Great video, Gerald, looks like a great little camera. Sony has work to do in streamlining some of its cameras features, though I think some of those that are possible with a smaller Aps-c or M4/3 sensor would require a lot more processing power when it comes to full frame. Still, it's 2019, and it's amazing what technology has come to. "Flaws" are truly "quirks" at this point.
p.s. you could open with a simple "buongiorno a tutti!" đ
An advice to everyone of the X-T3 video fellows:
Do NOT turn off the internal record while you're using a external recorder, it's because the Micro-HDMI is a physically very unstable connector, I had many experiences of using it with my Atomos Ninja V but turn out to have various clips of 5-6 seconds durations in the SSD while the full length clips perfectly backed up in the camera SD card. I was lucky to have not lost the invaluable works of my clients by leaving the internal recording as a backup though.
I honestly think Fuji just watched your other videos on the xt-2 and the Xh and listened to you lol. Either way, thanks for paying attention Fuji! I'm a Sony user but I definitely respect your customer service!
I don't know how much of an impact I had on development, but I was told directly that they watched my videos.
Thanks for the kind words!
@@geraldundone the front facing tally light is a pretty big and unique improvement for a dslr/mirrorless camera...pretty sure that came from you!
Nice vid. I have the T3 and love it. Iâm a pro sound mixer and really appreciate the audio features you covered. But did you know the T3 records in 24 bit 48kHz? Most cameras, even pro cameras record in 16 bit 48kHz. The T3 preamps are pretty good and quiet. The camera is not susceptible to ground loop noise issues to which most other cameras in this class are. Feel confident in recording sound direct to camera if you have a good preamp taking the mics like a Sound Devices MixPre-D.
I personally dislike that it records 24bit because it makes the video sizes bigger without allowing me to change it, or can I? Humans can't discern aac 320kbps from lossless anyway and it's much more efficient
Good video. I laughed at the "dislike button twice" - had to test it. But made sure to click that thumbs up once.
Thanks a lot! đđ
True...its an amazing system atm...cant wait for the XH2 man! Maybe no crop in 4k60 or 1080p 120 anymore please? :)
Good on Fuji for constant updates and improvements. Will these be updated for the xt2 also?
Because I am in my covert account, I feel like I can fanboy like the rest of the techie trolls. Great video G! ...and man - I'm with you 100% on all those points. As a very reluctant Sony owner, I weep a little every day that I don't own an X-T3.
Oooh, cover account. I like it.
I wish I did have an XT-3 for a backup camera but I'm sorry for me nothing beats my A7RIII and A7III full frames. Not throwing shade on this camera at all because from my time with it was a good experience. Good job Fujifilm!
Ha, finally a subject I knew as much as you... I 'm still working on my presentation though. You win. Nice work Gerald.
I've just invested in the Weebill Labs gimbal for my X-T3 even though the firmware is not supported. Any chance you could review??
Haha. Thanks.
If I get my hands on one, sure!
F****, I want one now. incredible stuff from Fuji !
Fuji, one of the most UNDERRATED camera among the masses....I guess the masses need their âopiumâ (Sony) to paraphrase another quote.
a6400 is available today, and I was thinking of going for it before I saw this video. Maybe I should wait for the X-T30. I may appreciate 10 bit video in the end. Huha~
I have watched your video on Xh1 last night and i wondered when will you upload something with xt3. It was funny how things have changed since august 2018! I am thinking of buying xt3 or something smaller for everyday use since i am shooting with D4 and it is very uncomfortable to carry around for walking around.
I enjoy your channel very much, a lot of information and useful advice. Keep it up!
Edit:
I agree on your statement that people should try to see more of the good side of the products rather than just searching for lacks.
you won't regret it. don't forget buy one of their AMAZING and AFFORDABLE newer primes too. đđ·
Thanks so much! And yeah, Fuji went from a nothing in the video game to easily one of the best in record time.
I hit the subscribe button twice.
No! Only once for that one. đ
anyway to give some feedback on comparing the GH5S and black magic pocket?

Nice features, I didn't even know some of those!
Don't agree with #2, though, I don't like how 1 of the most useful buttons is all the way on the left on the XT3
