I swear Jari has the best ear for melody. 25 years old music that still rivals other current bands.
I don't know, but I think something different happened between 2000 and 2010, the songs written at that time seem to have something that the modern era doesn't have. It could just be nostalgia for the teenage years, but there was a common aesthetic at that time... Generally, when I find a "new" band from that time, the sound, both the mix and the melody, has a greater chance of pleasing me.

@@presskeytoplay I started listening to metal I believe in 2012, however for a first few years then it was just a several bands. I started exploring more of the genre fairly recently (let's say in 2017), so I do not have any nostalgic connection to the early 2000. And having it made clear, I must say that this 2000-2010 metal has something more to it than the current one. It was a bit simpler, more melodic. I've noticed that the bands nowadays use a lot of complex but dull chord progressions. Funnily enough, Time II will be a very interesting release, partially because is was written way back then

The intro has the sound and rythm of being low on hearts in zelda, the drums from runescape, and that low violin synth of a dying/game over scene from zelda or something similar. Its such a unique and nostalgic mashup of video game sounds.

Starts out like an old style videogame, kicks your ass with folk metal the rest of the way. This might be one of the best I've heard Jari, keep it up!

May I say that this art is absolutely stunning
its still so surreal to think that Wintersun, the band i've always known for 3 amazing albums (2.5 if you want to be a wiener about it lol) and in just a few months it's going to be a whole library of music that only promises to grow bigger in the future.

I love when the verse (or whatever you call it when the vocals start the first time) is modulated up or down by a step. In this it's down by one step, in Death and the Healing it's up by one step. I bet this is one of those things I'll be seeing everywhere now that I've noticed it.
