  • In my vlog from Qatar, you will find many interesting places in Doha. However, the most intriguing part was my journey to Qatar. During my visit to Saudi Arabia, I decided to take a detour to Qatar. The complication was that there is no public transportation, such as trains or buses, between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The options were either a flight or a taxi. I didn't consider either option realistic as it would exceed my budget. So, I decided to hitchhike to Qatar. Fragments of my hitchhiking adventure can be found in my vlog. It was an incredible experience, with the most challenging part being explaining to people what I was actually doing. In the end, I succeeded, and I made it from Dammam to Doha in half a day. The return journey was similar, but I didn't wake up as early. After all, I knew it could be done in a day.
Thanks to hitchhiking, I had the opportunity to experience more of the local culture. I brought some sweets to share in exchange for rides, but what I received exceeded my expectations. Mainly because, besides getting a ride, I didn't expect anything more. Water and sweets for the return wouldn't have surprised me much, but I was surprised when a man from Oman, whom I had delayed at the border crossing, eventually invited me to lunch.
Simultaneously, my journey in Doha began. This city is the capital of Qatar, and I wanted to make the most of it in four days, including travel time. Surprisingly, thanks to hitchhiking, I ended up directly at Barzan Towers. This fortress is located away from the city, and I had planned to skip it from my list, mainly because it's only open until 12:30. Well, I arrived late, but at least I saw the place.
Thanks to hitchhiking, I also had the opportunity to try public transportation. Although I still don't exactly know how buses work or how to pay, the metro was straightforward and went almost everywhere. Accommodation was a funny chapter. I was looking for something cheap, and in the end, one of the cheapest options was a hotel with a pool. That came in handy in the heat.
The next day, I visited the historical village of Katara Cultural Village, took a glimpse of the modern Doha Corniche, visited the Imam Abdul Wahhab Mosque, and concluded the day at Aspire Park.
On the second day, I started at Al Wakrah Old Souq. This market seems to operate mainly in the evening. Practically, there was nothing in the morning, and most places were closed. I also peeked into the National Museum of Qatar and the Museum of Islamic Art on the way to the center. I stopped at Fanar Mosque and The Pearl Monument. I concluded the day at Souq Waqif and the most beautiful place in Doha, which you can find - Falcon Souq. I definitely recommend visiting this falcon market.
The following day, I primarily hitchhiked back to Saudi Arabia.
