    I think it has less to do with the Anti-photon group that Casra mentions and more with Xiao's prediction that without a strong enemy, ARKS would go into decline. As the saying goes, "Bad times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And weak men create bad times." This is a theme echoed in Phantasy Star 2 where the people under the protection of Mother Brain grew slothful and decadent. Same deal with the Photoners before the ARKS.

    I wanna see a scenario where it turns out, our clone MC somehow inherited our base pso2 MC's memories in the cloning process. Base MC's personality starts to resurface but by that time, clone MC has now become their own person.
    Then we get a conflict where base MC wants to take over so they can fulfill their role as guardian once more and protect ARKS but clone MC does not want to give up control because they are their own person now.
    So a compromise needs to be reached between the 2 personalities inside a single body.

    As for choosing between Halpha Arks or Resurgent Arks, I'm more curious which team Aina and Manon choose, and I'm almost certain that they'll be on opposite sides of it.
    Could Aina take a dark turn by getting the idea in her head that Leciel's cloning tech could bring her father back?
    Could Manon take a dark turn by concluding that the experiment must be concluded to ensure all the deaths of the war weren't in vain?

    I'm glad that we finally got answers and the story is finally getting interesting after two long years. I'd want to say that the wait was worth it, but I hope they never do a two year long mystery ever again. Well, at least new players will have a more enjoyable time with the story now.
    I started a new character and it was nice to see that a mention of "909" is quite literally the first thing we hear in the first cutscene, I had totally blocked that out of my mind. But then there was an inconsistency as well: when talking about the war against DOLLS at Garoa's house it's Manon who says that the war has been going for over 500 years, when Zephetto claims it's 300. But then again, the war against the Starless has been technically going for 500 years and the DOLLS are a part of that war, so maybe that's what she meant. Or it's a retcon. Or Manon just isn't aware of the entire truth.

    Nothing suggests its not the same character, preserved in stasis and possibly memory wiped for some reason. But at the same time nothing suggest it isnt someone else, like a clone. probably best that way.

    • @NocheLuz
      @NocheLuz Před rokem +4

      That is what I thought too. There are almost no indications of us being a special clone. In fact, we are too much different from any other clones or people on Halpha. The story and conversation suggest that only 'we' can fight those giant DOLLS units. In the story, although we received help from ARKS defenders. We are the only ones that directly confront the giant DOLLS units. It is almost as if they left others to fight the giant DOLLS units, they would surely fail.
      Maybe it is the gameplay aspect where they need us to fight those bosses. But it is also what makes us different from any other ARKS in the base PSO2 story too (us fighting Dark Falz / Mother and being recognized as Guardian).

    • @zeehero7280

Like are they just *poof* all gone with out a trace and never spoken of again or are they just gonna hand wave them away with a line like “we don’t need them anymore so we just dismantle them to make room for [blank]”. although personally I hope they are now like a new autonomous weapon/tool for the ARKs group to use! whether or not they actually do anything in gameplay or just simply act as fodder for the story I don’t know. But I think the idea of working with the DOLLS for story events or as back up for urgent quests events/limited time seasonal events are cool and a bit funny as the Irony of working with a former enemy to fight against the starless! I wonder if those ARKS that didn't join the Resurgent ARKS will come up at some point. If so, will they have diverted their tech away from Photons to using live ammo, like ARKS did in the fight against Shiva? Would we find them using metallic weapons? It's funny, considering in the original PSO, several of the strongest weapons in the game were actually raw metal weapons and live ammo.
    While I was hoping Zephetto would choose to fight himself instead of using the 'Venogia' Dolls unit, I guess it wouldn't have made a lot of sense, as he's supposed to be a pre-resurgence-program ARKS from way back. He can't use Photons like us, so what would he have been able to do to a clone of the Guardian? Despite his apparently fatal parting with us, I don't think he'll necessarily be gone from the story. I do wonder if Leciele will be explorable/usable in Ep.2. That'd be nice. Maybe finally have a lobby area with a starry background again after so long? :)

    It is feeling good to see that some of the theories players have come up with were correct. The story has picked up the pace and the new enemies feel like a challenge.
    If somehow the story told us that we are not clones. But in fact, an ARKS (or Guardian) that was in cold sleep and they mistake it for a cloning pod. That would be interesting and explain a lot of weird things about our power.
    Also, it would be very interesting if DOLLS somehow join ARKS in fighting the new enemies in space. While also training new ARKS on the ground in Halpha. So, I think we are not seeing the last of the DOLLS unit. In fact, I think we'll be the ones who created the new DOLLS for helping us fight the enemies.

    Had the game ever established how much of the people on Halpha were Meteorn? My pet theory was by intermittently sending Meteorn they could contain the Dolls and Dark Falz without necessarily solving the problem. Over a long enough scale of time, those Meteorn earn their way to places of prominence with their natural abilities and scraps of knowledge about useful tech. Then Arks proper shows up, they offer help and already have people sympathetic to their ways, so they can claim resources or whatever MacGuffin is unique to the planet.
    Basically take the Phantasy Star II plot but instead of slowly weakening it's an infiltration of the society to make in their own image.

    My honest problem with this . . . explanation that we got, is that it leaves open WAY more questions and problems than actual answers. For instance how in the flying hell are the people of Halpha supposed to "combat" these Starless? Everyone on Halpha has been subject to roughly 300 or more years of constant combat. Half of the technology they own is literally technology they don't even UNDERSTAND, let alone are able to replicate easily. It would have made much more sense to either "tease" or allude to either a lost ARKs ship or have Zephetto himself say "a signal has been sent, soon you shall be able to save us all" as a way to say "yeah we have a whole ass fleet on the way, don't worry". I doubt that Halpha itself is a ship due to the numerous pieces of evidence in not only the command room but also the sky box. There is more than one planet within whatever "system" that Halpha is a part of, and even then it's not clear whether it's a normal star system or something like a binary or trinary system. You can actually see multiple planets on the screens in the command room. So i highly doubt Halpha itself is a ship. And that's not even going into the fact that we have barriers ALL OVER the place preventing easy access from one region to the next. Which leads me to think/believe that the barriers must extend skyward so there's no way any of the Halphanians can even build a ship or rocket to get off the planet.
    And that leads into the biggest problem of all. Leciel. The very FACT that thing exists and has existed for a while creates a massive gaping flaw with Zephetto's plan. If he could not only create DOLLs but also create ARKs/Meteorn . . . why didn't he actually communicate with anyone on Halpha??? Like, had there been a super secret plot passed down through generations and a myth of sorts built around it about some sort of god or deity that commands the people of Halpha to fight so that they may come to fight a greater evil . . . that would've been an EXCELLENT case of foreshadowing. Instead you have a bunch of people who know little to absolutely nothing wielding weapons they BARELY understand and technology they can't even BEGIN to comprehend. That is a literal comedy in of itself. And Zephetto expects us to be able to take the fight to the Starless??
    Seriously, Zephetto's plan has more screws loose in it that it'd shake apart when even coming close to breaching Atmo.
    Now as for what the "Starless" themselves are . . . i actually have kind of a thought on that. I think the Starless are either related to the original Dark Falz/Profound Darkness, or are a sort of off-shoot from the "avatars" of Dark Falz. I say this because i don't remember if we actually DID clear up that whole issue with the Subspace anomaly. Not the one that created Earth and all that. But the one where there was a whole ARKs ship that was sort of twisted/inverted and all that and was a large breeding ground for Dark Falz. Now if it's neither of those then it's something that CLEARLY needs more study on. Which i am baffled by the fact that the previous ARKs/Humans didn't do any of that. You're telling me, a small FLOTILLA of ships didn't try to examine a new spacial entity before getting hilariously shreked by them? And that's not even getting into the fact that several SOLAR SYSTEMS were swallowed by these creatures.
    Which also brings me to another problem. Where the hell is the rest of the cosmic community?? You cannot sit there and say "There is only humanity" when it comes to that. There should have been entire small nations/empires of species all across the galaxy. So to sit there and say "oh it's only a humanity problem" is really really stretching believability.
    They really need to get their act together story telling wise and stop going 85 KPH with a lot of plot points.

    • @studiesinflux1304
      @studiesinflux1304 Před rokem +2

      As someone who reads a lot about “hard sci-fi”, I couldn’t really get into the plot either because “where the hell is the cosmic community” was actually the last of my concerns. The scale of the whole thing is off even if you thought the DOLLS and ARKS factory was the only thing left.
      I know this is science fantasy, but that scene just showed that you are capable of cloning people, you can spawn waves of large DOLLS without needing your base to gobble up a steady diet of asteroids first, and you’ve been at this game for at least 300 years. With that production capability you should have been able to have trillions of DOLLS and ARKS in 300 years to just flat out Zerg rush the Starless before they could appear, and just from Halpha’s production expanding outwards to other planets.
      It’s hard to get precise numbers, but it looks like a typical skirmish with ARKS involves a “good” ARKS unit taking out about 30 DOLLS. Central City seems be capable of about 6 skirmishes per day (by the number of combat zones and how they talk about many units). Kvaris may be 2, Retem 4, and Stia 4. So to keep all those regions busy, 16x30=480 DOLLS per day as your original production capacity. That’s 175200 DOLLS per year.
      Similarly it looks like about 10k died on Halpha, so over 300 years, that means you cranked maybe 33 ARKS clones per year.
      So if instead of the pointless war, they instead went for mass manufacture to improve their practices, let’s say 10% per year which is easily doable with the faster than light travel, seemingly tiny need for raw materials, and cosmos that was peaceful because the big bads went away, in 300 years, they could have made the factory 2.6 trillion times faster, for 4.58x10^17 DOLLS per year and 86 trillion ARKS per year of production at year 300. (The joys of three centuries of compound interest.)
      Who cares if they are “first generation ARKS” with low photon capability if there are trillions of them each with their own DOLLS-inspired battlecruiser drones?
      Those starless better have an attack that destroys millions per second or they’ll just be overrun.

    • @CaptainRasmot
      @CaptainRasmot Před rokem

      @@studiesinflux1304 ALL of this, 110%, just the mere FACT that no one sat down and went "y'know, in this situation, maybe the Photoners had a good idea?" is staggering.
      No research. No planning. No thinking. Just 100% "yeah we're going to do the same ol' shit that was done roughly 500 or so years ago because, if it worked the first time??"
      During World War 2, Britain created what they called "The wall of steel". Which was literally EVERY gun they had. Newer canons, old World War 1 canons, Blackpowder canons, canons ripped straight off of a warship, canons attached to TRAINS. When backed into a corner they threw up every defense possible even though most of those guns had MAYBE 10 shells each. Had germany invaded it would have been an absolute SHIT SHOW.
      Now compare that to what has happened thus far in the PSO2 timeline and . . . you see nothing remotely close to that. No massive amounts of mobilization. Or massive armaments. As far as i understood it in the base game, the ARKs fleet was pretty much ALL THAT WAS LEFT of humanity after the Photoner Era collapse.
      They . . . sorta had an excuse? In that i think they DID try to make a few colonies here and there but most of them were just obliterated by Dark Falz. And it wasn't until the Photoner attack that they were able to start a rapid buildup of war materials and even UPGRADE what they had. So that has a . . . semi-pass.
      But even then, as far as i know/understand the ARKs fleet was regularly sending patrols ships/gate ships on supply runs to multiple planets/systems. Though that was only . . . *barely* explained both in-game and in the Anime. But still there was SOME FORM of actual LOGISTICS going on.
      Now to be fair, when it comes to the DOLLs there technically *is* some logistics going on. The problem is that it's very subtext and not actual friggin text. My understanding is that all the factories on Halpha contribute to the material acquisition and refinement of various minerals. Those minerals are then teleported either to Stia for mass production or to Leciel for . . . ULTRA mass production (i guess?), that or Leciel is where all the fully constructed DOLLs goes for deployment . . . which kinda makes sense now. Either way, a lot of the "grunt" work is handled on Halpha via large automated factories. So okay, it's never really explained but the evidence is clearly there!
      So . . . why did they not make DOLLs offworld?? Like i am more than certain they are barely using a percent of the actual MASS of Halpha in the production of DOLLs. If they took a singular planet, habitable or otherwise, and just turned it into a giant factory, you would have DOLLs for days. You could literally core that planet and have so many resources for mass production of DOLLs on a stupidly grand scale. And this IS possible. Just based on the observable state of Halpha itself, if it wasn't a "factory made" planet then it was Terraformed. Which makes it all the more puzzling why they don't have automated flotillas of DOLLs literally holding the line. And it's not like this wasn't tried in the past.
      Because that is literally the whole POINT of Lilipa. That is why there are so many robots ON Lilipa. The Photoners already had the idea of "stupid mass production" before they ironically shot themselves in the balls.
      So why the hell didn't Skeletor think about this? Surely it wouldn't take that complicated of a brain fart to come up with a similar plan.
      Right, sorry, that was ableist of me. Zephetto can't use what he CLEARLY DOES NOT HAVE.
      (Yes, i am roasting Zephetto. I love him as a character concept but they really dropped the ball with his machinations.)

Whenever the next major story update comes surely we will get a first look at what the Starless truly is and we get new enemy encounters going forward, and hopefully learn more of what happened to the rest of Oracle since the devastation across the universe.

      Honestly? Make Leciel a piece-by-piece random generated dungeon ala vanilla PSO2 content, I would way prefer that to circling combat areas for years to come again.

    in the another word starless can consume ARKS's photon energy that why they can't fight back starless in the past

    • @YukikoTsuki
      @YukikoTsuki Před rokem

      The name of the faction, "Starless", is entirely new, but the SEED from Phantasy Star Universe maybe have a couple similarities
      While the SEED are definitely the Falspawn-analogues in PSU, they share the origin of being a "mysterious force that came out of nowhere from space at some point" that the Starless have. It'd make for a second point if the Startless started showing up on Halpha now specifically **because** of the rise in Photon activity there - as the usage of Photon Technology (specifically A-Photons, the byproduct of using said technology) is what attracted the SEED in PSU.

      It could just be a style choice given these ARKS are descended from people who brought Rappy suits, halloween jack-o-lantern heads, and even cosplay of enemy units into combat.
      Even ignoring player customizations, recall even NPCs have beauty over function elements in battle like high heels (for everyone: men, women, CASTs) and they dematerialise weapons and other equipment rather than have a sling or retention mechanism in their costume to have the equipment ready to go faster.
