Remember watching this game with my friends on Vacation in Bosnia. we were all pissed that Mugsy Bogues put Drazen out of the Game . For me the Best WC in History
Short player but big heart
Fascinating stuff. For one, Bogues was a superb defender. Strong. Great footwork. But he has another thing working in his favour: Being defended by a player that small is a disconcerting new experience for any player. He crouches so deep that he almost disappears from the offensive player's field of vision. He knows he 's there, he feels his presence uncomfortably close but he does not see him. And there is nothing in his playing career that prepared him for that experience. You need constant visual data to gauge the action of you defender. And guess what it does to you when that data is scant or absent? Your mental circuitry is completely overloaded dealing with a novel situation, stuff you normally do unthinkingly suddenly demands conscious thought. And that mental effort subtracts from everything else, decision making, reading the court and forces you into a bad game. Bogues' short stature becomes his secret superpower.
As good as Bogues was credit has to be given to Coach lute Olson who devised this plan that everyone thought was crazy, except the team that is. What a genious Coach was.
Unforgettable championships. I had the official T-shirt. Tyrone really drove legendary Drazen crazy.

Alot of players never would have made the nba or any pro league. Muggsy was just that unique and a freak athlete.

Magzi je pre bio marketinška atrakcija nego ozbiljan igrač. Draženu je mogao biti neugodan dok se ne navikne i to je to.

You know why? because there was a 5'3" player who played in that world cup. All other cup have 6 feet high and above.
I've been saying this for years. 1986 USA had impressive run. The most underappreciated winning team ever and they didn't got credit they deserved
