Well let’s look at everyone’s advantages Bobby and bone goomba are great at removing that one annoying enemy you couldn’t line up their great for finishing off that highly powerful enemy. Spike and Bowser jr are great at removing a lane of enemy’s that you couldn’t finish off with your attack. Professor toad, Kamek and bowser “folded” can deal damage to any enemy in a hammer or Jump line up. And suspifcly for folded bowser his disadvantage is use of flame against fire bro’s which half’s the damage he would of originally done 50 but would do 25. And it’s also unknown if Bone goomba would be affect by thorn like enemy’s like Spineys
Ok I see: Luigi and Bowser can't fight. Makes sense Bowser (unfolded): the stapler is destroyed so all the enemies which were stapled lost the staples that kept them folded so only Olly is left. Luigi: he accidentally fell for a trap and got separated.
Partners are like a little cosmetic touch/minor reward for exploring, to the already ingenious gameplay mechanics and design of origami king. Basically, aren’t a focus, doesn’t need to be more than what they are, though nice to have. It’s not a core mechanic like partners in ttyd or pixels in spm

Anyway this game is so much better than sticker star and color splash. That doesn't mean it doesn't have flaws. It's definitely not a replacement for the original or ttyd. That being said it's not at all terrible. Also origami giant Bowser is awesome looking

Having multiple partners in your party would honestly be a really cool concept in a future Paper Mario game (that returns to the RPG roots with the TTYD remake)

Paper Mario: The Origami King is one of three Mario games I can think of that include Bowser as a main playable character. The other two that I can think of are Super Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.
I was SO DISAPPOINTED to find out he cant fight at least ONCE hes my favorite I wanted to see him use like a super jump on enemies or something like Super Paper Mario :( Maybe even a dark moment to reference Mr. L from the same game! (Imagine he got turned into Oragami and we had to fight him! That would be so cool and have him more involved too!)
Ya know, this is awesome and all, but not at all what me and other long time paper Mario fans were expecting. Kinda disappointed to be honest. Don’t get me wrong, it’s awesome, but they’re more of temporary occasional bonus damage in battles than partners. 50/50 chance of attacking and failing therefore doing nothing, and every single one is temporary to have. So they’re on the right track, but this needs a bit of improving. Edit: and it’s disappointing to see how characters like Luigi and Bowser when he’s finally unfolded just plain say how they’ll wait in the area they gain the ability to follow you around in. I was hoping I could take Bowser back with me through the final level and see what he can do, but that’s pretty disappointing that he just says he’ll wait at the room before the final boss.
Yeah so basically this isn’t even an RPG anymore, the hole fighting mechanic is completely useless, “partners" (if you can even call them that) are pretty much useless. The first part is horribly slow and painful. No badges, no exp, no unique characters or playable sidekicks, lame "puzzle" battles. I just can hope they let someone else design the battle system and quests.
Literally too many people like old paper Mario games. Nintendo try their best to make their newer games good, and you're just gonna ignore it? Plus, never had a N64, can't emulate, have a gamecube but the disc is sold out.

NR09 yeah the point of an RPG is to be able to grow stronger as you progress. Sticker Star tried and failed yet they’re keeping it up despite the criticism of both fans and non-fans of the series. Coins & Stickers were scattered around the world a lot more than in battles, and coins were just used for more stickers at the shop or the ability to use more than one sticker. That’s not enough to convince me to battle them. And that’s not getting stronger at all. At least in color splash, they had the pseudo Exp system of holding more paint, but that’s not exactly growing stronger either, it’s just being able to use your cards to their full potential more. It’s pretty dumb as it is that Mario needs a card with a boot picture or a hammer sticker to do those moves when he’s fully capable of doing those moves without. I feel it would be better if those two things simply made those normal moves stronger instead of forcing the gimmick on us to the point of Mario being unable to do anything if he runs out. These partners in this game, like I said, are basically temporary occasional bonus damage. I’ll take it, however it’s not partners, and there’s no denying they’re on the right track with it. Badges, oh well. They have accessories to replace those, and I was able to live without those in Super Paper Mario despite that not being turn based. Sidekicks would be nice to have back if they’re controllable, but it’s not something I feel like is super 100% needed in the games. The fact that they tried making the battles puzzles is okay to me, it’s unique, and admittedly looks fun, though for less of prizes than the stuff given in the overworld, I would not do them. Really it’s either the dev needs to stop making RPGs because of the issue of not getting stronger as you progress, or they need to realize that mistake and fix it for the next possible entry.

Kind of. Bobby you can only keep until a certain point in the story. Professor toad You can use all the time but you can only use him in the Desert. Kamek Bowser jr, Bowser, spike, green toads and the dead goomba you all lose at a certain point in the story. So I guess the only one you keep for the whole game is professor toad And you can only use him in The desert. It’s not that bad though I played the game.
Remember when you can actually play as your Partners, had more then one move and stayed with you the whole game? Thanks Tanabe even with the Switch your still failing stuff that a N64 game did fine
64's partners were about as interesting as having, like, three lines in one of the last chapters of the game. They were more interesting mechanically and visually, but in terms of character development TOK beats the original game out tenfold, that being in favor of the revolving party aspect of the new partners. Also, don't pin Tanabe as the imaginary boogeyman to be upset at for ruining the series. Put that anger into something more worthwile, such as lamenting the limitations that make it unable for the crew to modify pre-existing Mario characters.
It’s kinda realistic that you don’t play as your partners. Because they aren’t the protagonist, you shouldn’t really be able to control them because it’s them and not you. This is just my opinion.
Crescent Island. Hammer a tree, use Earth Vellumental. Open chest, go to Mushroom Island, go to other side of house. You get Diamond Key. Then go to the underwater diamond immediately.
If you let you're assistant defeat the black shy guy in the temple instead of defeating it yourself it does not recognize you as having defeating it. Since it doesn't appear anywhere else in the game, it blocks you from 100%ing the game because you have to defeat it to get the Origami character gallery trophy. It happens to me after hours of trying to 100% the game, and it isn't getting any attention. Please spread this around, I want to finish the game! :(

I dunno why, but Origami Bowser fighting with Giant Olly looks like siblings fighting in a nut shell.
It’s supposed to resemble like a sumo wrestle fight the game even mentions it in the Meusem in Origami Bowser’s profile and king Olly’s profile (when Olly enters his 2nd phase)

Probably my favorite partner is Bobby Bob-Omb...
He is a loveable character but sometimes he sleeps and misses his attacks. Which is kinda sad cause all the other partners don’t do that. But bobby is great

I heard a rumor that you only get to keep your partners until a certain plot point- is that true? I feel like if it is they pretty much just ruined the game. I want to keep my partners permanently, not just for a while- that's lame.
Kind of. Bobby you can only keep until a certain point in the story. Professor toad You can use all the time but you can only use him in the Desert. Kamek Bowser jr, Bowser, spike, green toads and the dead goomba you all lose at a certain point in the story. So I guess the only one you keep for the whole game is professor toad And you can only use him in The desert. It’s not that bad though I played the game.

Remember when you can actually play as your Partners, had more then one move and stayed with you the whole game? Thanks Tanabe even with the Switch your still failing stuff that a N64 game did fine
64's partners were about as interesting as having, like, three lines in one of the last chapters of the game. They were more interesting mechanically and visually, but in terms of character development TOK beats the original game out tenfold, that being in favor of the revolving party aspect of the new partners.
Also, don't pin Tanabe as the imaginary boogeyman to be upset at for ruining the series. Put that anger into something more worthwile, such as lamenting the limitations that make it unable for the crew to modify pre-existing Mario characters.

It’s kinda realistic that you don’t play as your partners. Because they aren’t the protagonist, you shouldn’t really be able to control them because it’s them and not you. This is just my opinion.

His pure power is so broken that they had to restrict him after testing.
If you let you're assistant defeat the black shy guy in the temple instead of defeating it yourself it does not recognize you as having defeating it. Since it doesn't appear anywhere else in the game, it blocks you from 100%ing the game because you have to defeat it to get the Origami character gallery trophy. It happens to me after hours of trying to 100% the game, and it isn't getting any attention. Please spread this around, I want to finish the game! :(
