Честно говоря, скажу как носитель, я запутался и даже не ожидал(да, я знал эти слова, но использовал редко), что в русском действительно там много приставок к слову "играть" да и в принципе к любому слову. Большинство из них мы используем очень редко

Note: "prank" in English is used as a noun with the verb "to play". ie. "I played a prank on my big brother" or "let's play a prank on mom." Unlike "prank" we do use the phrase, "...he played the ace of spades," and we do say "I aced the test." But we don't say, "I pranked my big brother" or "let's prank mom." ...Just one of those little language nuances to frustrate English language learners. Happy Thanksgiving! Say... I'm thankful you post these helpful videos frequently! :D
Actually it can be used as a verb by itself, certainly I’ve heard it plenty.

@@Beckyjeaned In Arizona. But I feel like I've heard this in videos as well. I mean it's not as common I guess as using prank as a noun, but I've definitely heard people saying they pranked someone. Plus, actually, I'm just noticing that the auto-fill on my phone has that word in it, so someone's using it somewhere, ha.

I am watching your channel , and I like it BUT can you do some Videos outside when you are out and about , for example in the park etc . It is less like in a class room and it will be more useful and interesting for us learning it , because it will be something we can see and relate to . Please !

сыграть - to play (a known number of times)
доиграть - to finish playing
разыграть - to prank someone
выиграть - to win
прoиграть - to loose
переиграть - to replay
обыграть - to outplay someone

sometimes a verb can have" only " 3-5 prefixes, but sometimes a verb has 10-12 😜 prefixes + variations of reflexive verbs with prefixes.
@@SpankyHam lol, in Portuguese we also have some of these prefixes but not that much!

I noticed in the Netflix series Queen’s Gambit, her last line in the last episode is «Сыграем!» , as she sits down to play chess with the old man, and I had wondered why it wasn’t Поиграем. Could you say either in that situation then?
Поиграем - about some process. It could be a few games, times.
Сыграем - about some one play time, only the one game.

Yes, to lose, to drop, to waste something. For ex. Я потерял бумажник - I lost my wallet, or Я потерял деньги - I lost my money (no matter if I dropped it somewhere or made a bet and lost it).
Question:
How does the meaning change between
1) Музыкант сыграл две песни
&
2) Музыкант поиграл две песни
сыграл - действие звершено, песни сыграны полностью, complete action
поиграл - performed songs for a while, музыкант исполнял песни какое то время, не факт что действие было завершено, может быть он спел только по кусочку из каждой песни, мы не знаем. поиграть - играть немного/играть какое то время/начать играть

You lost money - ты потерял деньги or if you gambled f.e. - ты проиграл деньги
You earned money - ты заработал деньги or just ты заработал. Money part in this particular case kinda implied
Я заработал / Ты заработал /Он заработал / Она заработала / Они заработали / Мы заработали
You lost a friend - ты потерял друга no matter was it in the crowd or permanently
You gained/found a friend - ты нашел друга or ты приобрел друга. Or you can say ты подружился с кем-то
Я нашел друга / Ты нашел друга / Он нашел друга / Она нашла друга / Они нашли друга / Мы нашли друга

Why the series "The queen's gambit" has finished with the phrase "Сыграем!"? Does it make sense? Was it implicit that they have the intention to play chess by several times?
It’s like “could you want to play?” Just now or by the several times.
«Сыграем» как «пойдём», «поедим», «поделаем». Здесь нет привязки ко времени. Это просто предложение что-то сделать вместе.
