- Part 2 of my journey to Austria with the Can-Am Spyder F3S! Today is the first full day of the Großglockner challenge event - I get to visit the Rotax factory and visit several scenic checkpoints.
Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to photograph the factory tour which was my favourite part of the day, I’ve never visited a factory like it and it was an eye opening experience. As someone with very limited technical knowledge or experience, I firmly believed that engines simply spawned into existence. It was a privilege to watch various machines take solid metal and cut and shape them into something recognisable. I can’t describe it very well so you’ll have to take my word for it, thankfully there was enough fun riding surrounding the tour to fill a video.
I’m starting to feel at home on the Spyder, I’m learning what it’ll do and how to make its quirks work to my advantage - for example, normally a rear wheel spinning out is cause for alarm, but I’m learning how to use it to get out of tight spots and impress the people around me.

Great video, loving the change to a Can-Am, I never knew there were so many out there, I'm learning so much, they look like great fun to ride. I think I'd choose the supermarket too 🤣

I also enjoy new stores in different countries. And as you say different packagings, I also enjoy new to me and different kitchen tools. They can be so interesting. Mexico, where I live now has a lot of refill bags. You buy the main packaging, then just fill up bags. Really interesting.

You will find in most of Europe that a helmet is compulsory, The UK is different from the continent. If you find yourself as part of a strange group don't worry if you don't keep up or others start passing you, ride your own ride and let them ride theirs. Some others want to ride as fast as they can, let them do so and keep to a comfortable pace for yourself. No need to do calculations to convert speeds, the Spyder display can be changed to Kilometers and KPH.
I enjoy your trips lately. You're getting better plus I agree with you with the stores and the different things in different countries.
Thank you! I’m so happy to hear it, I’m finally figuring out a way I can quickly edit together riding footage and off-bike footage to upload regularly while on the road and I’m really pleased with that 🥰
I'm having issues with my phone and sat nav and music playing odd times as well. Come to Greece, I'm the odd one out here. No one uses riding gear here, and only 10% have a helmet. Also, bikes don't stop at red lights, and no one takes any notice of double white lines or speed limits. Ride with eyes on storks. ❤❤❤❤❤

I'm guessing that most of the other riders are on their own machines and are therefore familiar with the handling of them more than you.
Oh yeah, I think almost everyone is on their own machine with the exception of at least one journalist. I spent a few days on this F3S earlier in the year so it wasn’t such a huge shock to the system and I’m much better on the 3 wheelers now 😁
