Destiny 2 OOB: The Whisper (2024)

- We've got Whisper back!
The original D2 secret mission, and one that feels more out of map than plenty of actually out of map places. I went here plenty back in the day, but never bothered to make a video. I found in map much more interesting there, and there were plenty of other guides. Unfortunately that means I forgot some of the old holes I used to use and had to refind some... But there's still some interesting sights to be had.
Perhaps one day we'll get back the rest of Io. It would be fun to check out the Pyramidion with current glitching tech.

the Whisper mission was so much fun and I miss IO my First OB was during the bunker missions breaking into the bunker before it was even open I got a cool screenshot of me standing in the hall of it, the good ole days indeed
oobing into festering core before it came out is one of my favourite D2 memories.
RIP Io. RIP festering core...I swear it was only in the game for what...like 1-2 seasons?
I swear it was in game unfinished longer than it was finished.
My favorite was that turned-off portal that they added before the strike came out? You could just walk right out the back of it. This persisted even when the strike was released.
And I remember it being out for a couple seasons. Either during the Warmind towers or Contact public events would screw with the Grandmaster difficulty and people would just die instantly as soon as they loaded in and get sent to orbit.
I say it was like Froggy stated of it "in the game unfinished longer than it was finished". It was in game overall playable for a full year, various Reddit comments allude to it was going to be a PlayStation exclusive, but that was before Bungie separated from Activision. Meaning the whole thing was sitting there OOB from the access of the patrol area outside vs OOB from the Endless Gate blocky adventure zone. It was hiding with the D1 hive form (non-textured beyond base color shader) placeholder models before the Red War "adventure" area of it changed from it's straight block path the rounded platform things in Shadowkeep, and they never patched the OOB behind the Portal when it was the newer version, as per another of Froggy's videos. Except by DCVing the whole moon...
seeing that old way of getting in brought back memories of glitching in that space for fun, glad it still kinda exists. seeing this video makes me miss IO, and all of the other sunset planets through. 😢
And Io, like Nessus was filled with lots of OOB due to all the Vex geometry.

I found this back when the old whisper was still active. First thing i did was this and tried seeing if Io still existed and couldnt find a trigger to get Lynxed. Glad someone else found that OOB and finally put it out there. 😌
they should definitely hide some secret collectible triumph in the oob area, that would be so fun.
To be fair, with how OOB parts of whisper feels, the hidden chests and stuff sorta are.
Shout out Cloud, wherever he is now. Beyond Light seemed to do him in for good.
The tools he was using to make videos got discontinued. Maybe at some point he'll get a desktop set up for editing...

Luckily for this one, the timer stops before you pick up the chest, so you have time to explore if you want to :)
Going OOB in this area reminds me of how you could use a glitch to give yourself infinite Super on Titan. Something about activating Bubble in the air, and as you drop down you cross load zones. Took me a while to get it right, and I was ecstatic when I did!
I miss IO and Asher - I used to chill out on this destination a lot whilst I waited for my fireteam to sort their shit out.
Definitely made that Garden World strike a lot easier...
I wonder if we'll see any more of Asher. They kinda made it sound like Avalon was the end, but I doubt that'll stick. It'd be a bit silly if they killed him off by having him tell us something we already knew about by that point.
@@Froggy618157725 One of the post-Final Shape missions is about the Vex right? Have him be our guide/vendor for that would make a lot of sense to me
I discovered something interesting with the “blight wall/barrier” that locks you into the activity. How can I go about sharing the video with you Froggy?
Froggy you can go to the right side of the boss room near the chest and below in the vex milk there is a hole in the map

It does but it is very easy to escape

Never did much there 'cause of the tight timer. But if it has the same chest deal at the end it could be fun :D
@@Froggy618157725 does menu spam delay the timer? A la how 98% of people got their zero hour speedrun emblems?
That hasn't worked for a while. But they added a chest at the end, and stopped the timer for it in Whisper. Maybe they'll do the same for Zero Hour...

Wonder if it’s possible to bypass the enemy rooms by going OoB at the beginning and going to final boss then backtracking till you hit the boss room trigger?
I know it’s probably slower but could be fun to try
You can go out of map in the first combat room and skip to the boss. You're fighting a turnback timer though, which is annoying.

@@Froggy618157725 but is there a way earlier is what I was wondering I think that’s very cool but I’m thinking more of a like you use the first OoB and make it all the way to boss staying OoB but good to know that’s possible was hoping there’d be a skip in the mission to make it faster to speedrun.

No, but I was at the pickup chest step for most of em, so I think the music wasn't going.
They made it way too easy now. 40 minutes normal? 20 minutes legendary? Jump help platforms? Boring.
