Thank you for all the testing!!
I'm sure glad you did this comparison Patti!! There is so many way's to make chalk paint and I really never knew which one was really the best but now I now!!! Thank you for the demo so we could actually see all of them side by side!!! Your the BOMB my friend!!!🥰
Thank you Shelley. I was really wanting to try this.
Hello mam!! Im from the Philippines and i want to learn how how to make a good chalk paint..thanks you for this..but can you share what paint should i use..?
Thanks for doing all the experimenting for us!
Thanks for all the info!👍😁
Good to know. Thanks!
This is a wonderful idea!!
Thanks Patti! Very informative.
This is fantastic, thank you
I like the flamingo with the tutu and tennis shoes the best❤
Thank you, great idea for chalk paint 🙂
Thank you so much for testing and letting us know.
Thank you, it was fun.
Very interesting. Thank you for doing this ❤
So helpful, thank you👍🏻👍🏻🐇
Thank you for doing this video. I have been wanting to find a good recipe for chalk paint. Love all your gnome videos, too! 🤗
Thanks Lori. It works great.
The calcium carbonate is my favorite as well. I tried all of those ingredients as well. I love chalk paint. So I had to find a cheaper way of painting. Learned how to make my own. If I want a grit consistency. I use the baking soda and paint. It definitely makes it feel like concrete. I like to use it on vases now and then.
Thanks Tammy. The baking soda would be great for concrete. I think the plaster and baking soda together would be great too. I will have to try that. Happy Easter
@@PattiJGood Happy Easter to you!
Hi Patti! I agree with you on the CC product it was extremely close to the look of the Waverly Chalk paint, and loved the fact that you can store it for other projects later on, as always thanks for sharing. Have a Happy Easter 🐣 and blessings to you and your family.
Thank you Tami. It works great. Happy Easter.
Excellent video! Concise and well executed showing all comparisons. Love that it was a quick video that I didn’t get “lost” with overly done explanations. You made a subscriber out of me 🙂. I will definitely use your favorite method in future since I recently invested a small fortune on many ready made chalk paints. TYFS your time and knowledge with us.
Thank you so much Nonna.
Thank you so much for doing this project. It's so helpful
Thank you so much.
Just love all your video’s. I bought both plaster of Paris and calcium carbonate about a year ago and never tried yet. You have inspired me to use the CC.
Thank you, it works great.
Thanks for sharing!! Have a wonderful weekend and Easter! ❤️😘😊
Thank you, you too.
Thanks for all the great things you teach us 😊❤
Thank you so much Sheila.
Great video! Thank you very much! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much Sandra.
I want to try making my own chalk paint so I really appreciate how you explained each step thoroughly. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much.
Thank you ❤
Thank you for doing all the hard work for us Ms. Patti!!! 🥰
Thank you Tammara. Happy Easter.
@@PattiJGood Happy Easter to you as well 😊
Hello Patti. Great to see you again. Love your work. 🇨🇦🙋♀️❤❤
Thank you Patty.
This comparison was really interesting, thank you Patti. Laura
Thank you Laura.
Thank you for making this video
Thank you for watching.
Great video TFS your experiments it's very helpful.
Thank you Sue.
Wow thank you for this.... so thorough and well done that I don't have to experiment myself now... awesome work lovely ❤
Thank You 😊 This was a fun one to make. The Calcium carbonate is the winner. I made this last year, and my paint is still liquid and works just like I just made it.
Thank you so much!!! ☺️
You are so welcome!
This was an amazing project. Thanks for doing this comparison 💖💖💖
Thank you Ann.
Very interesting thank you for all the information sometimes you can't find that color of chalk paint, but now we know. Thank you for the class CHALK PAINT 101.
Thank you so much. Great for big projects too.
Terrific. Thanks
Thank you so much 🙂😊🙂
Thank you for this information and DIY as I have never done this before and now I know I can do it myself affordably😂
Thank you 😋 It's more cost effective to make it yourself
Thank you for the calcium carbonate part. ❤
You are so welcome. It worked great. Thanks, Patti
Very helpful. Thanks 🙂
Thank You 😊
thanks for doing this, was wanting to try something different as I can't always get Waverley paint.
Thanks Niki. For big projects this is a great alternative because of the expense. I do love Waverly paiint too.
That was really an interesting video thank you for sharing❤🤗☺
Thank you so much Bonnie.
Tysm Patti for doing this video! I saw someone else suggest a gnome idea and I would love to see you do a softball gnome. So many young girls out there would love one I’m sure! Thank you for all you do and Happy Easter 🐣
Thank you Susan. A softball gnome as a girl or with a beard? Thanks, Patti
@@PattiJGood I think you could do either and everyone could adapt to what they wanted, but I guess I was thinking a girl because of my granddaughter! 😁
I absolutely love your rat terriers I have one and I would love to have two of them!❤
Thank you so much. They are so much fun. Two is great because they entertain each other.
Patti you’re not good….you’re GREAT!
Thank you so much 🙂😊
Thank you, Patti. I've always used baking powder. I will be changing now. Nobody wants a gritty paint. I never even noticed. Duh me!!🤪🤣😂🤣
Thank you. TSomeone commented that the calcium carbinate can also be made by grinding up chalk. I may have to try that. Have a great weekend.
@PattiJGood aww great idea. You have a wonderful weekend as well.😀
I don’t do big projects, but I just grind up sidewalk chalk (calcium carbonate). What I like is that since it comes in colors I can match it to my paint and don’t have to worry about it lightening up on me. For black I just mix red yellow and blue chalk into black paint.(I just discovered black sidewalk chalk exists)
Thanks for the idea, that is a great one. I am going to get some chalk today. Thanks, Patti
@@PattiJGood the easiest way i have found to grind it is to just scrape it in a mesh sieve. Just falls into a bowl. Much easier to clean up than my old coffee grinder.
Thank you, such great help. Plan to get this going. How long do you think this mixture will keep? Or maybe make when needed.
I did a project with it last week and it is still the perfect consistancy. I think it will last until you use it up. Months. Thanks, Patti
Yep Patti always thinking of new stuff. Wow well I don't think I have any furniture to redo but there is always something else in my though produces for something. LOL I see those short sleeves and outside meaning it's nice outside well are you lucky! Well next week we might hit 70 hooorraahj!!!😂❤🎉
Thanks Linda. It was warm that day, but we are back to cold again. Have a Happy Easter.
@@PattiJGood Yes Friend you make sure to enjoy Easter also!
Thanks for sharing your test. I really like the Calcium Carbonate. It is hard to find non-food grade here in Canada and the other is very expensive on Amazon. I found the cheapest at a local wine making supply store! Benjamin Moore paints just had a sale of their testers - 50% off - I bought lots of colors!
I will have to check the wine making supply store for that I did'nt think of that. I love when they have the testers for 50% off. I usually load up. Thanks, Patti. Happy Easter.
Only about $1 USD here in Thailand. It's definitely better.
Thank you for this video. A very good comparison test of all the different products used thank you for sharing you have a blessed day in the name of Jesus Christ
Thank you so much. You have a blessed week.
Hi Patti! Thanks for comparing. You asked for ideas...Can you make some Spring/Garden Gnomes...after the
Hippie Girl Gnome...lol Happy Crafting!🤗
Thanks for the idea! I will have to do that. Happy Easter.
@@PattiJGood Happy Easter!🙏🤗
Thanks, a good information, i am from Indonesia
Thank you so much, and thanks for watching. I am from Texas.
Hola me ha encantado el tutorial. Puedo usar alguna imprimación, para mi vitrina, ya que está enlacada y no tiene rayaduras. Sólo quiero cambiarla a color blanco.
I love this video! I had no idea you could make chalk paint. You picked the perfect black that works well with cool or warm tones. And I love your measuring cups 😁
I would love to see a video of you using the DT resin. Maybe an abstract painting? Or geode look. I was thinking about that gold/ silver/cooper leaf streds I have seen at DT and some glitter and sand. I have an image in my head but not sure how to execute. I wonder if you could dump acrylic paint in layers on the center of a canvas and then use a blow dryer to make colors bleed together. But I think the resin would have to be mixed into acrylic paint. Idk 😅
Thanks Kimberly. I will have to do a resin video. I am still learning that one. Have a Happy Easter.
Thanks for the information. Its a great help! Also what breed are your puppies? 👍
Thank you Patricia. They are toy fox terriers.
Hi Patti.. Love your video's. rather watch these than regular TV
Would like to know tho, what type of paint you use to make your chalk paint..
Would regular emulsion work ?
Thank you
& keep creating.
Thank you so much. I just used regular flat latex house paint in this project. If works great.
LOVE this! Thank you so much. I just found your channel today--new subscriber for ya! What amazing videos you have. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! Thank you!
So is the calcium carbonate the one you have decided to use on your piece of furniture? I can’t wait for final results!!! Thank you for sharing your test with us, if you love the end results that could definitely be a game changer for some that paint a lot of big pieces❣️
Yes it is! Next weeks video I use it in. It's a lot cheaper to make it than to buy it. It also stores good.
Just wondering how much paint are you using with the calcium carbonate.
I want you to do this whole experiment again, but paint over furniture-drawers or something so we can see how well these cover and stick
I used the one that worked the best in this video czcams.com/video/yaUu_eXT9dA/video.html. This was the one with the calcium carbonate.
Should try talc I think that is the best mix I have seen
Thanks Gwen. How much talc? and do you mix it with water too?
@@PattiJGoodgo to the schwowins nest she has a recipe for it she makes most of her chalk paint
Hi Patti - can you trial the Baby Powder Talc method?
I'll have to look at that one. Thanks, Patti
Hello Patti, this was very interesting, did they have any differences in smell after 24 hours, not on the canvas but in the bowls? Just curious, because some paints have a certain smell after time. Wishing you and your family a Blessed Easter.🤗❤✝️
Thanks Roberta. I did not have any smell. Smelled just like latex paint. Have.a blessed Easter with your family.
This was a great demo! So was there anything about the calcium carbonate that you DIDN‘T like?
Thanks Gabriele. I loved the calcum carbonate from start to finish. It works great. My go to for chalk paint now. Thanks, Patti
@@PattiJGood thanks, that’s good to know. Happy Easter 😊
Wondering how much paint to start adding the calcium carbonate to
I did one cup.
@@PattiJGood Thanks for the quick response Love everything you post ❤️
Which black paint is used.
Enamel or water colour
I used latex wall paint in flat
Which paint have you used in black colour?
Latex house paint with flat finish.
Can i use this paint on clay pot ?
Absolutely, it works great on clay pots. Thanks, Patti
What kind of paint is the base for mixing? Acrylic?
It's water based latex paint.
Can you use acrylic paint for the cc mix?
Can you use any acrylic paint?
You probably could, I have not tried it.
Which paint to use?
How much paint are you using please ?
I used 1 cup for each test.
Amazon doesn’t have calcium carbonate in Canada. I typed it in search, I get No Result!
Here is the link for some from Amazon in Canada. tinyurl.com/mwjxkb7s Thanks, Patti
You can grate cheap white chalk or cheap colored chalk from dollar stores to get calcium carbonate. Please wear a mask while doing this
Thanks for letting me know that. That is a great idea.
How many guys do projects like this?
Sorry, I am from Texas and that is just how we talk here. Thanks, Patti
Lots! Sexism reigns.
Calcium carbonate is chalk isn’t it ? I think so , you can also make it with talcum powder.
Yes, it is chalk. I'm not sure about talcum powder, but I have heard people use that.
Plaster of Paris is not worth it. You have to paint quickly bc it hardens fast and you can’t even save your leftovers. I prefer calcium carbonate.
I learned that doing this video. The next day the plaster one was sold. Yikes.
I've got a great idea! Let's pour some black paint into a black container, it will show up really well on the screen. What the heck were you thinking?
Sorry about that, it was the finished product that I was trying to show you LOL
Don't be so rude, she's right, it was the final product that mattered, she told you the consistency. What were you thinking, making that comment like that. Would you speak to a stranger in front of you that way? Umm no!
Are your dogs rat terriers
They are toy fox terriers. Very similar to rat terriers.
@@PattiJGood I have a rat terrier. They are very loving and caring dogs. I rescued mine.
