I still believe this court needs to be expanded. After citizens united and the dark money behind them, Im not willing to ignore the blatant disregard for ethics. Im sure the court knows how little the public currently trusts them. This is a campaign to regain public trust and avoid oversight. The same way companies behave in order to avoid regulation.

Agree. We also have a role to play in encouraging good candidates to run and proving to them they have our vote. We've got to make sure the Kirsten Senemas don't get through. That means we've got to do our homework and help educate voters who don't have the time or inclination to educate themselves. I read recently that the DEMS finally realize that GUNS are the issue they need to message in a big way because it can expand the party beyond the party tent into a supermajority movement and electorate. It's the one issue there is no argument for. The Republican Party is accepting money from the NRA and gun manufacturers to promote the killing of innocents at an alarming rate pure and simple. By 2024, at the rate that mass murders are occurring there won't be a single person or family who hasn't been directly affected by them. There will be no safe place we can go to. Our own homes can no longer be considered safe from assault. The stats bear this out and the DEMS can expand into every demographic there is for votes. Our survival and future depend on it.

Please help Ohio. The people voted for two amendments to the Ohio constitution for fair district maps to be drawn and the Ohio GOP legislative have ignored them and now the Ohio supreme court is a gop majority thus we have no chance to fix this minority rule
Ohio needs an independent commission to redraw districts. Similar to the one michigan passed by the voters in 2018. Michigan used to be one of the most gerrymandered states in the country at the federal and state levels. Now it's as fair as can be.

@Diana Gross ohio Supreme Court won't do anything with the current 4-3 majority. The best bet would be for ohio voters to pass another amendment this time to create an independent commission and get rid of the current system in place that the GOP has been abusing. The issue is that ohio is voting on raising the bar for a constitutional amendment to 60% if it passed. It will be almost impossible for any amendment to pass.

I am interested in what will happen in NC. The current maps were drawn by a court decision that the previous one were racially biased. The NC Supreme Court just reversed this decision saying the Legislature can do whatever it wants and the courts or executive get no say. I would like to know how this US Supreme Court decision affects the situation in NC.
We need help in North Carolina. I hope this precedent will require the N.C. Legislature to redraw its districts.

I believe that requiring any tests to vote was ruled unconstitutional. We don’t exclude anyone on the basis of under-education. That would be a very slippery slope indeed.
Need for this process to occur in Ohio also. Ohioans have voted for new voting districts and the GOP controlled legislature has disregarded it. Democrats can never win in Ohio until these maps are redrawn.

This country needs a solution to states continuing to gerrymander at the whim of the political party in power. Can the federal government pass a law that states have to appoint a bipartisan panel to determine new districts as needed? I am also thinking we need federal oversight on the state panels...maybe a bit too heavy government interference. But the time wasted continuously fighting this issue needs to end.
I'd say the federal government can at least pass such a law for federal elections. If the states wish to go for the extra costs of having different districts for other elections, that is there problem.
