- Hunting $1,000 in half dollars!
My grocery store bank ordered me another 2 boxes of half dollars for this week and let me tell you... I was very skeptical at first since they were my least favorite boxes to hunt - the yellow rolls from Harrisburg, PA... BUT - they didn't disappoint me one bit! I managed to score silver, (including a my second ever Benji), as well as... well, just watch the video to see what I found!
In this video, I will share all of my finds with you including all of the Silvers, the NIFC's, and even a possible '82 P Variety coin (no FG).
I decided to not set up the camera and record each and every roll this hunt to save time on editing so I could get this video out to you all in under 15 minutes... I hope you don't mind and still share in my excitement as we found more SILVER!

Do you only search for silver or do you also check for proofs, errors and low mintage years?
How many silver half dollars do you average in a box? Do you mostly see 40% silver or 90% silver? What's your BEST find in a box of halves?
I hope you enjoyed the video - if you did, please subscribe!
I plan on posting new ones weekly so please subscribe if you wish to see more: goo.gl/7jX6g5

My luck with Half Dollars continues! I hope you enjoy the video and Happy Hunting!
After rewatching the video, I think I can see a faint "G" where the "FG" should be... Thoughts?
RobFindsTreasure look out for 1944 copper pennies because in 1944 that's when they subsatuted steel for copper especially in 1944
Sorry I haven't been watching your videos, I was sick:(
Seeing you and another roll hunter going after this inspired me to start checking my local banks (don't drive, so a little limited, but I think I could hit about half a dozen with a bus in and bike ride back), and when I checked the two nearest to me, since I didn't quite have the cash on-hand for a box, I just asked for loose.
Glad I did, 'cause the only one I was able to get was a '67, which I'd just bought sight-unseen, so as not to be 'that douche that cherrypicks'. With luck, I should be able to start actually hunting boxes shortly.
@@RobFindsTreasure how does one get started doing this? What do you ask for at the bank? Awesome video!
this is like opening packs of cards but you don't really lose money
And that’s why I like them
Fax
got to admit having a hobby where even the duds are worth something is terribly smart and frugal
Covey Hough so it’s basically impossible to lose money with this hobby
I inherited my grandfather's coin collection and it was 20 peanut cans of silver quarters dimes and half dollars. Alot of mercury dimes in it
My dad passed away a few years ago and this video just brought up a deep forgotten memory of him. He used to have a 1952 franklin half dollar coin with a hole drilled in it on his key chain.
Man I never heard of coin hunting from bank rolls! I just watched the penny one now im here. Good stuff bro! Much love and respect for your hobbie. I seriously want to go through my change now haha.
same .
the exact same thing just happened to me, altho I knew coin collecting was a thing, I only collected a bit as a lil kid myself, and have almost zero intrest in the idea now, but this guy makes it seem fun
@@CrimmzZT of course it's a lot less disheartening to get duds when you're making a bit of money from the hobby either way.
Yup, same here too.

A few weeks ago bad weather and bad health prevented me from metal detecting so the wife suggested I buy some halves. Bank had 2 boxes so I took one. Wife decided to help and she immediately got a ‘64 Kennedy. Then she scored a ‘53 Franklin. Then I got a ‘64. And a ‘42 Walker comes my way! Plus we found 13 40% coins, 3 proofs and 24 uncirculated halves. Wife insisted I go buy the second box.
Second box gave us a ‘40 and a ‘46 Walkers. The ‘46 appears uncirculated. Absolutely beautiful. We also found 11 40% coins, 1 proof, 14 uncirculated and 4 error coins including 2 no FGs. Absolutely the 2 most magnificent boxes I’ve ever searched.
And the bank promised me another box today.
chip5256 That’s an awesome story and thank you for sharing it! Plus, great finds and happy hunting to you both!
I just finished going thru a $1,000 in Kennedys and all I came away with was 4 coins (2 1966 and 2 1967) - not even one 90%er....
That won't even cover the cost of gas I burned to go to the bank to get them and then back to return unless the price of an ounce of silver doubles while i sleep tonight.
So you just went to town to get those boxes? I usually have some other stuff to take care too, so who cares how much the fuel cost is
Rob when I went to the bank to get a box of dimes I asked for any halfs or dollar coins and the bank teller gave me 5 40%s, 3 90%s and one 2006 s proof 90% silver. I was sooo happy!!!!
Them boxes are tough ! Keep at it up I got 148 silvers in my first box and 69 silvers in the second this week . Oh and 2 magic coins. EPIC
I remember going to a bank in Pana, IL and bought $450 in halves from their coin counting machine. I had 16 Franklin halves, 1 walker, 16 1964's, 1 1965, and more than 30 1966-1969 halves. That was back in 1994, though.
Weird I live near Pana lol
👏 wow
You have a coin hunting room, I barely have a room 😂
A ROOM, I LIVE IN A SHOE BOX....
Marvin Jacobs you got shoes? Lucky....
I have a Masterbatorium
@@sammyzonna8045 a masterbatorium? You're so lucky. I grew up in the remains of a moldy egg salad sandwich in the middle of a freeway!
We Don't Believe It
Wow iv seen other videos of yours and I was not picturing you looking like that
Nerd dilf
Love watching the Rob Before He Was Famous stuff.
I have the Harrisburg rolls in my area. I have searched through a few boxes and I found a Ben Franklin, 2 1964's and I even found a 1908 O Barber half a couple of weeks ago. I mostly find 40%ers but I'll take whatever I can find. Haha
HI FOLKS... BILLY MAYS HERE...
You just never know, great hunt and finds Rob! Glad your finding the silver... May has been brutally slow for me, hoping it picks up next week.
WOW 1952. I'm trying to build an old roll of them.
Nice hunt. Considering all the skunks that you had.
Great Find with the Benjamin Half. Haven't found one of them yet Half hunting, but I'm hoping!!!!
Got the NIFC with my RC initials on it yesterday-thank you. It absolutely figures it got here ONE day after I did my first mail call video with my Lemons for Leukemia challenge! LOL.
It will be in my next mail call vid.
Finally, finally got (part 1) of the 1922 2 acre farmhouse open permission done. Got the first 6 hunts of about 14 I've done there. I cut out almost ALL the clad finds and ALL the trash finds (which were several hundred) just to get it down to the dozen or so good finds, and it's still 25 minutes.
I hope folks find it as epic as your 30 silver half box you recently did!
Thanks again for the special Half!
Rob 2
Man, I wonder where all my coins are at. And that ben Franklyn is awesome! Never seen one or knew they existed. Very cool.
Silver 👍To bad you don't see boxes like that these days. Fun hunt to watch Rob 🤓🙏
Nearly impossible to get halves here in western NY, but when I plead with my bank to order some, I'll luck out on a lot of NIFCs and proofs. Rarely find silver. Good boxes, Rob!
Found a walker a few weeks back in a tellers change tray. As I looked at her change it was looking right back at me. Told her I wanted to buy her halves & she gladly did so at 50 cents each. Not my first walker, but the first time I’ve ever seen one in a change tray. 1918 P, is G4 condition.
I used to coin roll hunt all the time. Used to love it until everyone found out what silver was. 😭
I found a complete roll of 64 Kennedy half dollars once and used to find tons of silver. It just seemed around a few years ago when silver peaked I couldn't even find rolls anymore at the banks.
Coolest coin I ever found was a Lincoln cent with a Masonic simbol like welded on it. Happy hunting.
How much was it worth?
I always enjoy watching you get any silver. That was pretty good. Grocery store orders boxes for you? That is amazing they would do that for you.
Shirl Bussman it’s a Wells Fargo Bank inside of a grocery store. They have a very small vault so it’s very cool they keep space for me there for sure!
That is awesome that they do that for you. I wish I had a Wells Fargo Acct. Thinking about it..
I received a Ben Franklin from my convenience/liquor store in the form of change a few years back.
Sweet finds!! Awesome hunt Rob can’t wait for more!!
Sweet hunt! Can’t wait to see more videos!
Love the hunts 😍
I have so much silver from hunting I need a new safe . Love it .. keep up hunting . Also I only keep 90 percenters
Just realized you are out of frisco! Love seeing another local coin hunter, Fort Worth here! Happy hunting man and see you soon
Some good boxes!! Nicely done
Very entertaining and professional video! Not my thing for sure but cool to see a professional in their trade.
10/10 effort 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I received change today when I paid for my purchase at the store. Epic.
That's so sick, I know this video is over a year old but I wish I had half this luck. I'll get skunked on 5-6 boxes in a row, even worse when I find ones that aren't even half dollars.
And you just hit a Franklin... crazy.
My building’s laundry is still coin op. I check every roll of quarters for rare ones or silver. A few years back I opened a roll and they were all silver quarters. I look through the Canadian dollar rolls too but mostly to find if someone stuck in an arcade token.
Kids walked up to me with a bunch of half dollars and asked if I wanted to trade for dollars because they were told they were fake at the store 😂
I did, I thought they were going to figure out a way to use them
I am sure they raised some coin collection.
Lock that up from kids
Six dollars in Benjamins this was the late eighties tho....
Sold all my scrap and coins at 20$ spot, did good.
Started over with scrap Sterling, I almost never see silver anymore...I moved overseas and will soon start metal detecting as my detector gets here,,,,
I picked up 4 rolls of Kennedys at my credit union. One whole roll was 40%. I've asked a few times and they say they don't have any more half dollars.
Omg, wow!!!! A Franklin, you have my like, now 2 more to go, walking liberty and barber!!!!!😃
Adrian HF I am definitely hoping for one of those for sure!
My theory is, you will find the most epic coin of all from the least expected place, so when you get a box from the the bank you don't want, there is still hope!
Man congrats on finding the franklin. I just opened a brinks box and only found two nifc's no silver...hope your luck continues good job.
paul joseph Thanks Paul!
is there any website you use to determine the value of certain coins? Or do you just sell to the highest bidder for rare coins? Or do you just put them on display?
Please answer
I asked the same thing. Not one reply. Not sure why no one answers such a simple question.
Probably the reward is to high, so they won't tell their secrets.
And I watched this to the end....I am starting to worry about myself now...
wow much be doing good with the u tube stuff your home is wow wow wow
I work on currency counters and the banks don't like the silver coins. They want to get rid of them. With a right settings you can set up a magner 305 coin counter to reject silver.
1000 silver dream is still alive.
I bought $500/wk in half dollars for about 3 months at lunch form work. That was about 9,000 coins. Never found anything silver or older than a Kennedy.
I always check the coinstar machines sometimes ppl leave behind foreigns or oldies
Great hunt. So funny that you didn't get a 1968. Maybe you got them all in your last hunt. LOL. 👽👽
Pams Coins I probably did Pam - LOL
i cant wait tell when you star doing live stream rob good boxes you got.
For the price of a couple of ASEs, you could buy a few shares of a low price miner, trading at 1 to $3 a share. Trade these for some profits,DO NOT TRADE YOUR GOLD. EXK, which trades about $2.50, was up 7.5% one day this week, up about 15 cents in a day. I keep a little portfolio of 7 of them. All are rallying ,along with gold and silver. Their Tech charts are good. SSRM has a great chart, with a huge cup, followed by a nice handle. Trades in the $15 area. I would not think of trading the coins.
WHEATON, WPM gets $27 million cash flow per employee!
Enjoyed watching your depression turn into excitement... lol :-) great video!
Bama MoonDog LoL- so true!
I can’t wait to see more great channel
Love 4 bits
This dude looks like a bald Charlie Kelly from Always Sunny. Awesome.
That was a Pretty Neat Coin Hunt!!!
I struck Pay Dirt one day at a bank not too long ago I got a full roll of 64 90% percenters.
WOW! Very nice!
Don’t be hating NF Strings 😄. Great finds believe me
So what do you do with all these coins once you sort through / hunt through your coins?
Nice Hunt awesome finds, HAPPY HUNTING MY FRIEND
My rabbit is named loomis like the money truck
Very interesting
Nice boxes Rob
MrDirty Nickels Thanks Dom!
Nice score!
For your pole on the oldest half that I’ve found you forgot to put a seated! And yes I have found a freaking seated BOOM!,
Good stuff Rob.
Found a franklin 2 days ago on a whim bought 7 dollars worth from a bank and she pulled them out I seen the white and got super excited
for us that don't know it would be great if you elaborate a bit on your finds. like you said "and even a possible '82 P Variety coin (no FG)." what the hell does that even mean and what makes it special?
Also maybe give an estimate of each coin and possible total .
Loved the video
Eli Potruch Subscribe to my CZcams channel it is called yuriy Paul it will be the first one coins for you
Anybody else listen to this guy and expect him to just go "Alvin!!!!" Out of nowhere?😂
Acetone takes the marker right off just fyi.
Cool finds
Dudes rock..fish..no bait...bwahaha
Not as many as last time but still cool finds!!! But the franklen makes up for it lol
Itz Nick I agree Nick! Love older silver for sure!
Acetone cleans that off great. Just a q-tip and wipe and rinse
Who cares if its an "ender"? Really doesnt matter where they are in the roll.
You have 50 rolls of coins and 2 sides. That's a total of 100 viewable coins. With 20 half dollars per roll that means you can quickly see 5 rolls worth of coins for about 10% of your total coins before opening.
Nice edit. Great hunt.
I found a 1952 d Franklin a few weeks ago. Only 5.4 million minted and its extra fine!
Hahaha I used to be a coin collector and from what I know 64 and prior is silver
I don't know what you're talking about!? Anything after that (1964) unless it was a special mint was not silver
Appreciate you dropping by but you are incorrect. 1964 and earlier are 90% silver and 1965-1970 are 40% silver. Any true coin collector would know this which is likely why you don’t know what I am talking about. Happy to educate though and thank you watching.
NF String is the only rolls I find silver in.
Tough to even open Dunbar rolls though. Never any in them.
Not as great as last week, but any amount of silver is a good amount of silver!! Hope your luck continues! GL & HH
What is the best half dollar chart to print out while coin rolling half dollars?
Let’s get that silver
I think you might have a no FG, but it is so beat up and dirty in that region that it almost doesn't matter. You want that field to be clean so you can admire the "nothingness" there.
For the 1965, when it is that white, I might check the weight to see if it is on a 90% planchet. That would be a sweet error to find!
Great hunt again!
moosesox I agree. It’s a shame but still made me happy to look it over a bit for sure!
Some nice finds
Nice rob
It's there a little
You dont see that FG? It looks pretty clear to me.
yup i saw it too
Yeah, the FG is there, just really worn.
Your enthusiasm is certainly clear. 😉. Nice finds and good you enjoy the hobby. Do you find that bank branches inside of grocery and other stores are more willing to do coin roll orders than freestanding locations?
Rob Bernath This one certainly was. It seems that most free standing branches likely have many customer orders already and are less receptive. I have think most branches inside grocers don’t and seem to not mind for sure.
I have a 1952 Benki too! No date as well
What’s an infc? What’s the total value of your finds? Do you keep them or sell them? Thank you!
NIFC, not intended for circulation, post 2001
Alkali Wreck thank you!
Every time I ask for these my bank does not have any. Where is the best place to order from? Please help!
I've never seen these kind of coins. They must be rare 😉
Amber,
HALF DOLLAR OR 50¢ PIECES HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS.
SOME ARE 90% SILVER,SOME ARE NEARLY 50% SILVER. MOST ARE WORTH 50¢.YOU CAN ASK FOR THEM WHEREVER YOU BANK, HAPPY HUNTING.GOOD LUCK. OH ASK ABOUT $2 BILLS,THERES A STORY A YOUNG KID AT M ICKEY DEES,CALLED COPS ON A GUY PAYING WITH A $2 BILL.LOL!!
So do you takes the boxes of halves back to the bank in the opened boxes?
I kinda could see the fg but not for sure it could have been worn down a little bit but not sure
TyTy Lena I agree.
I seriously can't believe your at 3.5 k I've been here since around 250. I've searched around $10,000 in halves and not got one silver!
Reptile Collector The community support has been awesome! Sorry to hear about the silver eluding you... maybe a road trip is in order for you? Order ahead to a few bans a few hours or several hundred miles from you and go there for a weekend and hunt!
RobFindsTreasure yep I think snax and Paul took all the silver in Colorado 😂 I'll be going to illinois soon so hopefully I'm get some luck! Thanks!
This is a great video, but I’d just like to note for those who do not coin roll hunt that he did buy a ton of rolls and skipped the ones with nothing
First time watching the channel and wow, you look a lot like Jon Travolta, From Paris with love movie lol
Do you ever sell coins yourself? What do you do with these collections after going through I assume that turn in new for more save and salvage so can you say your making money.... waiting for silver to raise in value Is all any can do
I have some new $2 bills that are consecutive numbered from ending in 67 through 83. Is this significant?
Yes yes to quite a few collectors it is. I would hold on to them. That's pretty cool that means they came fresh from the Federal Reserve
