One of the main issues with this is that like other remasters there is often a drive to make the game look as realistic as possible which is usually at the cost of the games visual tone which more often makes the games look more bland and generic. If they were to keep the games original colour tone I think it would look a lot better.
It's up to the mod authors to get it right. If they want to change it to suit what looks good to them it's what they'll do. It's like with many skyrim graphical mods
This is just applying the RTX runtime over the top of a traditional texture pack. The textures are still just the old diffuse style that aren't compatible with ray tracing. They need to be modified into PBR materials so the light can react on them properly. The lighting also needs to be adjusted to compenstate for the real bounce lighting that was just baked into textures before. Remix isn't drag and drop, it's a modding tool not a graphics plugin as some have been using it.

People just love to bitch about anything with RTX attached to it, regardless of the amazing implications it has on the industry. I will never understand why these people hate on path tracing and ray tracing so much, if you don't like it, turn it off? Nobody is making you use it.

Textures need to be remade and lighting sources need to be added. This mod is more so a proof of concept highlighting the progress that remix has made rather than an actual complete overhaul.

The fog was basically removed with the remix.
It is a WIP afterall. So we will see if they get that ported over in the tools. Seems a few things are easier to integrate in remix than others.
Transparent textures do not work properly with RTX, you have to use volumetric fog, which for some reason this guy lowered to a minimum
Also the lighting effects. Which still hold up very well
