  • There are probably too many fat tire eBikes in the marketplace. This one is different.
    The Mokwheel Basalt ST is not only well built with reputable components, but it can share the power in its nearly 1kWh battery using an optional inverter. The inverter has DC barrel output, USB A and C ports, and 120v ports with a 1000w maximum. What's more: the inverter can accept current from portable solar panels. The ability to power your campsite and recharge where there is no electricity available is an absolute game changer for camping.
    Join Miss GoElectric as she puts miles on a well-optioned version of this bike and offers her conclusions.
    Check out the Mokwheel Basalt ST with this link:
    www.mokwheel.com/MGE
    At the time of publishing, Mokwheel was including 9 accessories with every order. The inverter is an extra $399. We've seen Mokwheel offer a deal where they include an inverter for free for those who buy two bikes.
    If you use the code MISSGOELECTRIC at checkout, you'll save $60 on any order over $1200. @mokwheel might support the Miss GoElectric if you purchase a bike using the link above at no cost to you.
    Post Production Notes:
    The Basalt does have a basic UL-2849 rating for the electrical system. As noted, the battery has not been UL-2271 certified and has no UL2271 stickers or markings. UL2271 is battery-specific, more rigorous, and now required for eBikes sold in places like New York City. We own many bikes without this certification, so it is not a deal breaker for us personally, but it would be nice to have for additional peace of mind.

    I've had my Basalt ST for nearly a year. It's a fun ride on both roads and trails. I originally thought the grips had to go, I have come to really appreciate them. They help with hand fatigue and prevent cramps.

      I was not able to use your discount as I was ordering via the Canadian website. USA site did not allow shipping to Canada. However just prior to finalizing the order I got an email from Wokwheel with a 100$ Canadian coupon which worked. As a result I got althr bike pretty much at the USA price and with the addon package. Now looking forward to the delivery hopefully when the warm weather arrives. @@MissGoElectricRideReviews

    “Brilliant” is a good word for this bike. I’ve have my Basalt (step-over) for about 5 months and I’ll echo your comments about the build quality, performance, comfort, and appearance. And while the option of the inverter is nice, I’d rather spend the money on a second battery because… why not be gone all day!?

    I love my Basalt ST, I carry it on the back of my RV and use it at campgrounds so i don't need to always tow my Jeep around. I use the bike to get around the campground, ride to town and go on trails in state parks. I did get the Mokwheel trailer for making trips to the grocery store or to carry back firewood to the camp site.

    It's a Hummer e-bike -with a weight to match! Camping bikers will love it.

    Which size frame are you testing? And how tall are you just so I can get an idea of frame size suitabilities. Thanks for your great video.

  • @whydoesthismatter
    @whydoesthismatter Před 9 měsíci +1

    I dont see how the inverter is better than a solar powered power bank. The frame mount is cool i guess that makes it appealing for some.

    • @MissGoElectricRideReviews
      @MissGoElectricRideReviews  Před 9 měsíci +2

      The inverter uses the battery which comes with the bike. It is small enough to mount on the frame in that clever waterproof case. We own power banks and we do not bring them along when we take this bike. This integration is more slick and costs less than buying a 1kWh third party discreet power back and waterproof storage. -Producer Tim

    Does anyone know where to purchase a spare batt for the Basalt ST-48v 19.6ah? Mokwheel doesn't seem to offer one

    • @MissGoElectricRideReviews
      @MissGoElectricRideReviews  Před 3 měsíci

      You are right. They are not currently available. We would recommend calling the Mokwheel service location nearest you. They have access to more parts. -Producer Tim

  • @RT-kr4wy
    @RT-kr4wy Před 9 měsíci

    You may want to rethink that inverter as it will take optimal sunlight with a 200w panel approx. 6 hours to fully charge that bike. So you'd be sitting in one place for a day. Good for camping but not extended day trips.

    • @MissGoElectricRideReviews
      @MissGoElectricRideReviews  Před 9 měsíci +3

      Filling an empty battery is something we have never needed to do camping because we do not run our batteries down to zero ever... But certainly not in the wilderness.
      Most eBikes are stationary most of the time and ridden occasionally. That is why the ability to export power from the battery and charge it from a variety of sources is wise. More options are better. More capabilities are better than fewer. -Producer Tim

    We are very interested in this brand, but keep hearing about the almost non-existent customer service. They basically don't answer calls emails in a timely manner which is very disappointing.

    • @MissGoElectricRideReviews

      Our reviews end with conclusions which summarize the pros and cons. Mokwheel lacks the physical presence of direct to consumer brands like Aventon, which will affect the Mokwheel service experience adversely.
      We hope you'll look at our other reviews if you value manufacturer service highly:

    Do not buy a mokwheel bike! I purchased a Basalt ST on 2/4 and have had nothing but problems since day 1. Customer service is horrible. it could take a week to get them to call back, hardly ever answer the phone. while polite when they respond bike is still broken as of 4/3 and now they are sending a torque sensor and wiring harness that I have to replace. (I don't have the tools for the bottom bracket removal). they told me to bring to my LBS and wait to get reimbursed! once they have your money, you are stuck. spend your money elsewhere!

      The best method for warranty repairs is typically to interface directly with any manufacturer's nearby physical service partner bike shop. If their web site doesn't list a location nearest you
