Thanks for the video and your explanation!
sick remote controller footage. Nice.
Nice Review! I fly both the Motion controller and the RC Controller and it all comes down to personal preference. If I want to get the best Cinematic video of natural landscapes I choose the Motion Controller because it is more precise, the turns are perfectly coordinated, smoother and I can get closer to the ground and shoot gaps with more confidence. It is more relaxed and enjoyable but of course not as challenging. If I want to do aerobatics and Mountain dives then I switch to the RC Controller. I usually bring both controllers and switch between them. Both are great! I posted a video last week showing both controllers.
Thanks. This is what I was looking for. You have helped me decide.
Yep, thanks! I’m getting me one (my first FPV) and will go with BOTH controllers 😃👍🏼
I also have motion controller 2 and decide to buy RC controller cos i wanna DIVE:) and more acrobatic movements. But nowadays im happy with motion controller 2
Thanks for your information!
Hey KL appreciate the comparison. The Avata is my first drone; wanted the experience of fpv with cinematic results also. Have yet to try my stick controller very much but still having fun with the motion. If you would let me know what you think of my first 2 videos on my channel. These were my first flights and editing. Still a newbe i am.
Love it
Great video, very informative. Awesome footage, AK has very nice scenery. I have the Motion Controller, but considering the FPV controller. Your comparison video helps with my decision. I'm leaning more towards the FPV controller. Only question is, can the FPV controller work with the Mavic 3 and Mini Pro 3 like the Motion Controller 2 will?
No the fpv controller only works for Avata and DJI FPV. The Motion Controller 2 can work with Mavic 3 and Mini 3
GOOD VIDEO. ONE QUESTION... TO TAKE SHOTS AROUND A TARGET AS YOU DID WITH THE DEER OR ANTENNA, IS IT ENOUGH WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL OR DID YOU ALSO USE HEAD TRACKING? WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL YOU CAN FLY BACKWARDS OR JUST UP OR DOWN?
You can do it with the motion controller and head tracking, but the remote is my preferred way
Simple question not related to this video. Did you try to connect a mic to the Goggles and then you can talk while flying and the sound is recorded with the goggles video?
The only difference I would say is that the drop that you can get on full manual. But with motion controller you can make fancy shot too combining it with the head tracking.
Good stuff bro!
Thanks for the good video, info Kris,,,, Alaska is beautiful certain times of the year, My brother loved it there during the summers,,,, Will put off learning manual until tired of the motion controller,, Sure your correct,,, once learn manual the joystick controller not as good, enjoyable,,,,
My Controller 2 arrives tomorrow, so I will be on the Sim tomorrow, I have only used the MC so far but I'm used to sticks having flown RC planes for years .....looking forward to learning some acro
Never flew those rc planes, i’m sure theres more similarities with and rc plane and fpv remote vs standard drone and fpv
I guess ill keep trying the FPV Remote, used it for the first time yesterday and found it very difficult to fly Vs the Motion Controler. I eventually want to get to full manual mode!
Can you tell which luts you are using and how to get them?
Awesome Video! I saw so many complaining about the avata that it crashes and stuff like this. But I got it and I learned manual too. I just love it, it is so small and easy to setup. I dont have the time to build my own drones, and I prefer the avata over any other drone. It gives 15 minutes flight time and is just a good option for me. If you want to do tricks with it, you should use another drone.
It really is a great drone, I’m having some signal issues doing cliff dives and what not but I just guess you have to be at the bottom of the the cliff and not above the drone
@@KrisLuckPhoto Yeah it has its limits. Nevertheless, I prefer the Avata because the drone has significantly longer flight time and stabilization. It is a good all-rounder.
Did you have an ND filter on in this? If so, what strength?
Im a Mini 4 pro owner, and I want to get into the Avata within the next 6 months to a year. But I don't want the added gimmick of the motion controller. For under $1300 you can just seperately buy the Avata, Goggles 2 and FPV controller.
I really don't want to invest in an explorer package for a motion controller that I'm likely to outgrow and stop using. Buying all 3 separately and skipping the motion stick seems like a viable option. Or am I missing something?
Amazing Bro ! U got manual mode down !! I personally prefer the RC over MC I use the MC for low and cinematic flying as I'm not 💯 in manual mode as yet but for just everyday flying it's the RC all day Everyday. How do u know when u was ready to leave from the sim into real life.??
I would say you know when you are ready. If you are good in the simulator, then you be good in real manual. You can also start slowly. Use the option of limit attitude to avoid flip. Also, no need to liftoff and land in manual mode. You can liftoff and land in normal mode but switch to manual while flying. Always remember the panic button and don't be shy to use it to save a crash.
@@mathieu.tourangeau i second this, if you are in the simulator and you cant fly through a window and do the opposite of what you’re supposed to do then you’ll need more practice. If you feel theres nothing else to learn then go ahead and try it outside. Fly in an open, soft field and just get used to gravity and the drone itself. I found some weaknesses in my flying and then practiced those moves in the simulator. So both compliment each other. I still have a lot to learn but don’t do anything I havent felt 100% perfect in sim already.
@@KrisLuckPhoto exactly. When I go outside it’s kind of real pratice. Then when I come inside I rewatch my video to understand my weakness and then pratice that in the simulator. For example, today was my first gap. Just going under some branches for a couple of seconds and then go back to open area. Also, I notice that landing with a 5 deg angle is much more easier that at 20-30 degrés. Because I can change the camera angle while flying it’s pretty cool but at some point I will need to be able to land with 20-30 deg angle camera. It is now my 7th days flying manual outside. I like it very much but I was nervous today because the river keep melting and probably the last day on the river near Montreal Canada 😁 I have antoher big field near my home that I think I can use to pratice. Today it was f’ying very slow and doing a U turn. Everything when pretty well. Not perfect. I had problem with the down sensor because of the snow/water on it and when the Avata detect a crash it switch to normal mode and then turn off the motor is different. It’s not a double clic on start/stop button. So the drone was bouncing on the melted ice (no damage) but I realise it kind of later. Then I try to turn off with both stick inside and it work. But when you put both stick down and centered the drone react even when on the ground. But finaly ai was able to land it with damage. 😂 Lesson learned. I get more experience everyday I fly. Thanks for you comment. I’m following your vidéo since you started manual mode to eventyally fly manual mode myself. Its done now but I need to pratice more.
Do you know if we can simulate wind in liftoff because that’s the main different with outside now?
@@mathieu.tourangeau keep it up!
rcmotion 2 is sick
I have MC but want to go for RC. I dont need no manual mode, no need tricks just orbit and dives, which are not feasible with MC. Question is : can I fly with RC safely in normal mode with GPS and stab assist? I mean, can I do it the same way as with MC , can I fly low over the ground and stuff?
I personally prefer the motion controller for sport/normal mode! I havent tested much in normal with the standard remote to be fair.
I own the Mini 3 Pro, Goggles 2 and Motion controller 2. Sadly, I don't think the FPV Remote 2 is an option and, unfortunately, neither is manual mode. Maybe I should have started with the Avata but I didn't know what I didn't know when I bought. I'm learning to fly Acro/Manual in simulators (mostly Tryp at the moment) and with my Mobula8 with O3 Air Unit and yeah... FPV/Manual is SO freeing, fun, and oddly relaxing. Flying with the Mini 3 Pro with Goggles 2 and Motion Controller 2 is probably about as good as it gets with the Mini 3 Pro - I really do enjoy flying it with the MC2. I'll continue to fly it with Goggles 2 and MC2 when I want to take some awesome photo or video of an sunset or skyline with the confidence my drone will stay put and the Goggles means I can see exactly the shot I'm getting. So the M3P is meeting it's intended use: as a tool for my photography toolbelt. But for flying footage, Acro/Manual is completely where it's at once you get the hang of it - I'm just starting to get the hang of it and having a blast.
Круто!!!
I like both controller kris I also like the motion controller 2 you can maneuver a lot better now with the motion controller 2 so now I have three controllers but the Avata is a fun drone I love it I also have the Mavic three I also love the fly that very much and I also have the mini three pro They are all fun to fly. Thanks for sharing Chris like always great video.💯👍 and I also love that nature at the end I think that was an elk love it question do you see any whales out there man if you do try to film them OK later and God bless
So you can't dive with the motion controller?
About 7 hours in into liftoff simulator eager to start actually taking the drone out in full manual what would you say safe amount of time to make the switch over?
wow.. That's early but if you fell confortable, give it a try. I spend maybe 50h in the simulator before trying it in real. The simulator really prepare you to fly manual. it's like 90% of the real world.
I had about 7 before my first flight and was rusty. I definitely feel like you need to get outside and practice at some point because you can find your uncomfortable spots in real flights and practice them in simulator. I definitely recommend flying in a grassy field first with no obstacles because the drone can survive crashes in softer grounds
Just found your channel through peter mckinnon! your videos are awesome :)
Haha thank you man!
@@KrisLuckPhoto No worries keep it up 😀
When I wear the Avata goggles, does anyone think the nose cup is uncomfortable?
Goodbye two stick controllers..motion controler is a better system. If you race the two stick is better
I'm not spending 3 months to learn the RC
I hear ya! If you do want to try it eventually I suggest getting one and just practicing online. Theres some great youtube vids out there to learn the controls. And one thing I can say is those 3 months are going to go by no matter what choice you make
@@KrisLuckPhoto yes I totally get that but I'd rather spend those 3 months doing something I enjoy!!
music was too loud, distracting and provided a headache...otherwise good video.
what is that stupid background music for?
So people like you can find another video to watch
