Bikepacking Kanawha State Forest, West Virginia

This is my very first overnight bikepacking adventure. It was a long time coming and turned out just like I hoped. The weather spanned from a heat index of 103° to severe thunderstorms to steady all-night rain showers. Along the way, my son and I conquered the infamous Hernshaw Hill Climb that pushed the limits of fitness over 7 miles of moderate gradients, but also gives exhilarating and speedy downhill runs. This was a dress rehearsal for bigger adventures to come and I had the time of my life.
