    These were some of the best engines built by any manufacturer, they did everything well. Good on fuel, amazingly powerful, simple, rugged and reliable

    Excellent work if that’s a rebuild, probably the most user friendly 2 stroke outboard I’ve seen😊

    This brought back some good memories. My first boat had a 1986 Evinrude 70 on it. It was very reliable to say the least and we never had trouble pulling a skier. Even slalom skiing was possible, since the boat was very lightweight.

    I have a 1982 Evinrude 70hp in about the same shape. Lovely motor.

    I love these old 2 stroke outboard motors from omc they're awesome and last forever these motors are bullet proof I always wonder what they would have done they never went out of business they're really doing some awesome things in there last year's engine blocks with v4 v6 and v8 seem alot easier to work on and modified

    As a outboard mechanic on new stuff, old is better than new dont but new Outboards.

    What was your top speed with this set up? I have a 16 foot river boat I was thinking about throwing a 70 on. I bet it would haul ass.

    So strange, we have a 1989, 60 hp OMC/Johnson (i.e. you'd think they would be very similar) yet yours sounds nothing like ours at all! Your power up at 23 seconds is truly spectacular whereas ours sounds kind of boring and flat.

    Nice! Could she handle a bit more prop pitch?

    • @ct1762
      @ct1762 Před 9 měsíci +2

      no. if anything a smidge less pitch. these really need to be at 6000rpm at wide open with a light load.

    70HP Evinrude was a 3-cyl engine made by Triumph (motorcycles)?

    • @donk499
      @donk499 Před 8 měsíci +3

      Not made by triumph, made by OMC/Evinrude/Johnson. Triumph was just the model name

    hang on to that, a new 70 is 9-10k and virtually unserviceable by anyone without specialized tools.
