Awesome motor! I have a thing for these old OMC motors! We used them as workhorses and they never ever disappointed! Maintained right they can operate forever I'd say 😁

Хорошие были моторы, сейчас таких ресурсных уже не делают. С уважение Кукелев Евгений Витальевич, давний ценитель моторов Эвинруд/ Джонсон. С 1984 года. СССР. Город Хабаровск.

Were you running off a gas can? If so are you premixing or is the vro still running separately?

It's common to run these engines out of a 6-gallon portable tank with the oil mixed directly into the gas tank. I have this engine as well and have it set up with two of these tanks. I do a mild seafoam mix as well every few tanks just to help keep it clean. these old outboards are dirty but have a lot of kick for the size and weight. This engine is 220 lbs.

I have an '87 model and it does 8gal/hr at 3500rpm at 30knts, or around 1litre per mile at 2500rpm at 20knts.

That is completely normal for a two-stroke engine.
