There was quite a bit of cut content regarding the Demon Empress Kishirika & Her 12 Demon Eyes. We don’t get to learn about all 12 of the ones that she used to have but we do get a rather solid description of the ones that were available to Rudeus. So, let's take a look at all that plus everything else we missed from episode 12 of Mushoku Tensei!

So basically the reason he was so quickly able to master the eye of foresight is because he already had the prerequisite skills of being able to control the flow of mana through your body.
Probably so, remember when Rudeus said controlling the flow of your mana requires a good bit of sense/sense feeling. It's probably the same as on how you master the Eye of Foresight

Rudeus encounter with the Demon Empress in the anime was everything I was expecting. The music pick was just perfect and they included all the spicy humour.
CORRECTION for the identification eye: They can only identify objects that Kishirika herself knows about.
Kishirika: “Eyes of Identification. You can use these to identify objects and their details. However, they can only give you information that I know. Anything I don’t know will come up as unknown.”

Yup. If i recall correctly. The eyes of identification were ironically the strongest eyes. Because krishtaria has been around for basically forever. But because rudeus didn't realize that she was telling the truth. He passed over what would've been a free encyclopedia that was both easy to use and exorbantly useful. If i recall, the eyes of future sight were actually considered mid tier of the eyes she had at the time since it's hard to use and master and there are so many ways to counter it.
oh ok. the video confused me by saying rudeus wouldnn't really gain anything from it, which I found weird, cause with rudeus's extensive knowledge, his version of identification would likely be vastly superior to most other versions. but if it's the demon lord's knowledge, then rudeus's knowledge of physics, biology, and stuff wouldn't matter.

@@privateuser3726 anyone who has the identification eye will essentially understand how it works, but rudeus would have a more in depth explanation that only he would know.
for example, you might know what a gun is. it's a weapon that shoot out bullets. but that's as much as you know. but with identification eye, you learn all the components of the gun, how there is a small explosion that shoot out the bullet.
you already know that spinning increases accuracy, you know what gunpowder is and how it can explode, but you didn't know it was correlated to a gun. kinda like that.
but only rudeus would have this much info, cause it's based on his innate knowledge. because of that, there is much more to the gun to learn, compared to others, who would only see it as a weapon that shoots fast projectiles.

Ok now immediately drop the manga and read the novels. The Manga is the worst adaptation out there, it skipped all of Volume 7, ridicules the story, removes depth and sometimes even downright changes things in a bad way. Read either the light novel or the web novel (LN recommended, but the web novel is still 10000 times better than the manga)
Specific searches of the wiki are useful but you'll most likely get spoiled.
A little WN/LN spoiler : the part about the twin dieing in the womb is actually because rudy is not supposed to be in this world, and the body he is in now, should be dead, but since rudys soul which was dragged from his world found its way to the new world, the souls need a place to stay and his souls found a body which had a great affinity with him, so paul and zenitsh son would have been born stillborn if rudys souls had not taken over. The interesting part is also that the reason he would have been stillborn is becuase of his large mana pool, since the child has a part of laplace in him, manly his large mana pool. he get to hear this very late in the story when rudy askes a "certain man" about his past and the future,

Interesting point about that "not supposed to be in this world" part is that it gets a nod/easter egg in the anime too btw, he is literally cut out of the stills depicting Eris's and Rujerd's journey together. Also, I recommend you also mark these as a LN/WN spoilers too, because I think a lot of people would assume its just a manga spoiler when its a little deeper down the line than that.

Huh, I assumed the "twin dying in the womb" thing was going to be more sinister, that he did have a twin in the womb that died early and kind of absorbed into Rudeus which gave him more mana.

7:56 I don't know if this is based on real folklore or just a common trope, but a trope is that if one twin dies, the other one will "absorb" their power and potential, making them stronger than regular people. So this is probably what they are referencing here.

@@Steampunk_Kak the "real rudy" never existed in the first place. His large mana pool is due to his early magic push in episode 1 and 2, to the point that he fainted a lot of times. That twin brother part is only guess made by kishirika

Fun fact, Rudeus ask Kishirika if she could give him the eyes of death percepcion as when he heard about mistic eyes he, as a cultured otaku thought first in Tsukihime and Kara no Kyoukai. When he explained how they work Kishirika reacted shocked and asked him who did he hated that much to ask for a power like that.

@@syrusalder7795 There is a lot of lore to explain them, but basicaly, they allow you to see the lines of death in things, so you can kill ir destroy anything as long as you cut those lines. Watch kara no kyoukai, is a very good anime.

I'll spoil you some since Tsukihime has no anime (manga exists though), and Kara no Kyoukai is long (7 movie, but only 2 of them have actual movie length)
In Tsukihime, the user isn't special. Thus, using it literally fries his brain. His behaviors become messed up and hard to control. It also overrides the normal vision. In the end, the user died.
Only in Kara no Kyoukai that the user isn't hurt by it. But it is only because she is literally connected to the Root, which is god-like thing in Nasuverse. (Don't ask further about the Root because you'll need to jump in the Nasuverse in detail)
While the eyes are really op with the right person, it doesn't work on living beings which don't have the concept of death. By not having such concept, it doesn't necessarily mean they are immortals. But for brief explanation, let's just consider them as immortals.

I think the implication of the question of the twin in the woumb is about the human soul. She is asking if he had a twin that died. Considering that he is in a body that isn’t his, it would be the same implication of sacrificing a soul for extra mana. So, that would be an explanation for his great power (without considering also his training)
For why she asked if he had a twin that was absorbed in the womb, it's because it looks like he has two souls. One from his origin life, and then the soul of the body he took over at Rudeus's birth. But everyone thinks she sees how much of a pervert he is., which is wrong.
Quick correction about your description of the eye of identification. You said it can only tell you about details from the user's existing knowledge. However, the details actually come from Kishirika's existing knowledge, at least when she's the one gifting it. Pretty useful when you consider how old she is.
Also she also mentioned to Rudeus that having two demon eyes would mean you would lose your normal vision entirely. Which I think is the main reason why having two would be too much for a person to handle unless they train their asses off.
Rudeus did have 2 demon eyes in the end. It's just a matter of training the activation & the mana usage.

15:00 it seems to me like the best course of action, in an actual fight (though it looks like they were training with weapons so it wasn’t the right situation for this move) would be for Rudeus to blow himself backward with wind magic- just a quick gust to push himself back a few feet, which would give him a chance to counterattack. This would work, as the Eye of Foresight was showing him the two possible moves Rigurd could perform, so choosing Option 3 would leave Rigurd in the exact situation Rudeus was in (albeit for a very short time as Rigurd’s experience would still help him recover quickly from overextending).
It just goes to show how useful this eye can be to Rudeus against melee fighters, once he gets a bit more experience with it.
In the novel he does not see 2, he sees many more possible moves. Moves that he will never be able to match because he cannot use Touki to increase his physical abilities like anyone else in the world.
Rudy is basically a chess engine now. But he's only playing on low depth. With enough skill he may be able to search and counter the tree of possible attacks in real time. But he's still limited by the speed of his physical body.
In the LN he mentioned that he wouldn't use magic and ruijerd explained that he has some experience fighting the foresight eye and he had already came up with some countermeasures

An eye of foresight is pretty OP but being limited physically and based on experience makes those powers so much better and the situation way more relatable .

and a correction on the encyclopedia eye, it works based on kishi...the demon empresses' knowledge, not the user, even if she doesn't actively remember it. its like having a search tool for everything she ever saw in her many many many years alive.

It‘s so hard to find these kind of channels or videos where you don‘t get spoilers but just the information known so far up to the anime. spoiler warning: Actually the eye of identification is an eye the identifies objects that kirishika knew, so if someone try to identify something Kitishika didn’t know it would turn out to be a question mark. The only user i know that had this is is Cliff which you meet in the millie continent in the light novel.
Another spolier: In book 18 or 17 i don’t remember, the same novel that cliff gets his own identification eye rudeus gains another eye so he actually becomes even stronger with his mana.

This is a misunderstanding by the guy who made this video, he was looking out for the crime syndicate as a whole, not his 'friends because he knew that the 'goods' being transported would have probably brought too much heat down on that side of the border. Forcing the organization to stop business in that country, if not being completely eradicated. Also, those goods if successfully traded would have started a war.

I was actually re watching season 1 and before the mana disaster sending Rudeus off to the Demon continent we see the demon lord for a teaser, And we see Ghslaine the beast woman sword king, she had what looked like a demon eye as well but she used to see the mana build up within the mana disaster, really cool how much goes unnoticed if you watch season 1 but not season 2

I feel like the eyes of mana perception may have actually been the most broken for Rudy. He already has incredible skill and control - if he could see and react to the mana manipulations he was doing in real time imagine what he could do. Perhaps I misunderstand what the eyes are capable of, though.
Yeah same, I believe one of the reasons he is so mediocre at healing magic is because he can’t “feel” the mana in others, so eyes that could make up for that would definitely increase his abilities tremendously
One big reason is his lack of understanding how to use his magic to change the world. With his grounding in scientific concepts from his first life it gave him the ability to manipulate the natural world with ease. He knew a lot of physics and chemistry stuff that gave him an edge in his visualization. But even with some biology knowledge he was not proficient in how to use that knowledge in a medical way so was not as good at healing magic. Basically lacking knowledge of how biological processes work in real time limited his ability to use healing magic in his preferred way.
Still useless against Swordsmen,
@@GuysCupank against good swordsman. You need skill to counter the effects a spell caster could bring to bear. Attacking at range will often be a good counter to melee combatants just because the melee fighter has to close the distance to even begin the attack. But a good swordsman will have the means to, at the least, keep the ranged fighter from slowing them down. Which is half of what any range fighter should be trying to do.

I believe it's more like she changed Rudy's actual eye rather than swapped out his eyes. Cause it's not that hard to pop an eyeball outta socket. Eyelids are super amazing in how many functions they serve. Keeping our eyes in place only being one.

The twin dying in the womb always suggest the surviving twin gets his potentiaal " powers" as well.
It also suggest even Kishirika thinks " mana" is determinate at birth, the common miss conception.

I believe the twin question is implying humans mana pool is capped. The reason he's so powerful is due to Vanishing Twin Syndrome. The vanishing twin is absorbed by the remaining twin, the placenta, or the mother's body. Which gave him twice the normal amount of mana.

The manga is the worst adaptation out there and any novel reader will tell you the same. Ridicules the story, ignores depth and important details, deletes scenes and skips all of volume 7. Read the novels from the beginning or at the very least volume 4.

There's one mistake in this video and is somewhat a spoiler so keep reading on your own risk, the eye of identification is limited to the knowledge of not only the user but also Kishirika's knowledge too, later in the story she gives that eye to one of Rudeus' friends and use that to identify a herb needed to save Nanahoshi

my guess is that, at least under current in-world magic theory(and perhaps it's been observed once or twice), if one of a pair of twins dies in the womb, while the soul passes on, their mana doesn't...or something like that. i'm not sure how to articulate it, but essentially when that happens, the surviving twin has double the mana potential because they assimilated that of the deceased twin

Regarding the twins - in vampire knight there was a thing that when twins are born among the hunters, one of them gets the other ones strength, the other one is born frail and usually dies soon after emerging from the womb, if it even survives that long.
Also it is later revealed that should one of them ever die, the other one receives the rest/all of the power the other one had.
And as you know this may very well be a belief in the culture thus it wouldn't be surprising if the situation was similar in here.

When a twin dies in a womb, the one that survives litteraly eats the other baby, so i think what she meant by a twin dying in a womb is referring to this.

The Mistborn series introduces the same ability. Any mistborn can use the extremely rare and expensive metal atium to see a few seconds into the future (exactly the way Rudeus does). In that series it's presented as unbeatable (partly because the only people who can use it have an array of other powers that render them overpowered even before they use atium). So it's a big deal partway through the series when the MC runs out of atium and has to work out how she'll survive her next encounter with mistborn assassin who has atium. Her solution was the same too (though the difference was there was no significant difference in skill or ability between her and her opponent). She attacked him while closely observing her opponent. Sure enough, he moved to counter her attack before she'd even fully started her attack, and she was able to change her attack at the last moment to catch him by surprise. The story briefly changes POV so we can see that from his perspective, her atium shadow split into 2 at the last moment, and he defended against the wrong one.
Rudy should've asked for him *and* another person to recieve 1 eye each

I just started this series and really loved how they made it seem the language in the reincarnated world was different but than went back to Japanese. I am not saying this is a bad idea but I feel like they could have had the Japanese language as a different language in the beginning to make it feel more in depth but they just gave up on their language after the first episode. Still a great series just my thoughts as I get to episode 3.

yes rudeus has a special infinity for a large mana pool called the Laplace something. But at the very end of the story you find out zenith 1st baby was supposed to be a still born but, someone summoned him and he was born. So my assumption this is just foreshadowing of that fact.

the way that Rudeus was reincarnated was that he died and took over the original Rudeus Greyrat's body, who was destined to die in Zenith's womb, and taken over the identity of Rudeus Greyrat, basically the same implication of having a twin, but the original Rudeus Greyrat's soul has already died.
