Brit never grew a single leaf of it, until they colonized. Then forced the natives to grow it instead of food. In the process neutralizing tens of millions. Then chiding them for being hungry/poor. Then using the poverty to bend them progressively more every year, and invented the best tool of conversion.
      Diabolical.

Well, St. Nicholas was born in Asia Minor, or Anatolia, a province of the Roman Empire. It didn't become Turkish until 1,000 years after his death. Hagia Sophia was built as a church by the Roman Emperor Justinian the Great, and was the largest and most beautiful church in the world for 800+ years until the Crusaders sacked Constantinople and stripped it of much of it's gold and silver trimmings. When Russians emissaries returned to Kiev from Constantinople, they said of the liturgy at Hagia Sophia "we didn't know if we were on heaven or earth, but we know that God dwells there among the people." This was a big reason for the conversion of the Rus to Christianity.

Also, Mount Ararat, the mountain were Noah’s arc landed is so incredibly important to Armenians and it pains them to see that part of Armenia is part of Turkey now (as with most of their land and over half of what was Greek land beginning 1200BC)

It just may upset some people because it gives the impression that Santa Claus is Turkish or other impressions that may not necessarily be true. It would be like mentioning on a video of Greece that Mustafa Kemal was born in Greece, he wasn’t Greek but yes he was born in Greece-though that would give the impression to those who do not know much about his life that he wasn’t Turkish because many watching do not know the histories of these areas. And if he mentioned that about Attaturk, why? Theres so many important Greek people from Greece, as there are so many other important people from Turkey who are actually Turkish.

Though I think the Ottomans did a lot more damage (personally) For more info, look up the Ottoman Devshirme tax and Cizye tax and also theres so many more taxes and rules levied on Christians under the Ottoman Empire…. Even in modern turkey especially in its early years still tons of problems co-existing with Christians (hence the reason why it was like 25% Christian in 1920s and now theres a couple thousand in a country of almost 100 million people). No hate to Turks by the way, most everyday people got along fairly well and many of them are still wonderful people!

Hi! First of all, thank you for calling us chill and nice. Before starting, I want to apologize for misspellings since I can't see the keys I'm typing on (visual iimpairment).
However there are plenty of numerical and historical inaccuracies in your comment. Firstly, Turkey's official population is about.85 million, not (nearly 100 million), unless you don't count the refugees. Secondly, while I know the "Devşirme System" and "Cizye tax", these points of yours wouldn't matter much, since both of these were abolished 100 and 90 years prior to taxes only Muslims paid (look up Aşer / Öźlşür tax, Ağnan tax, Ağıl tax, etc) respectively. Yes, Muslims and Christians didn't pay taxes equally or oaid the same type of taxes, however Christians' specific taxes were lifted way before Muslims. The funny thing is, the main reason why Devşirme and the Janissary systems were abolished wasn't because people protesting or anything. The sultan Mahmud The Second considered it to be a hinderance for the empire (constantly revolting to change sultans).
As for the population exchange, if you didn't know, this was idea of the main powers at the time. Both Turkey abd Greece agreed to it, so if we think carefully, yes both countries did displacemebt at that time.
Finally, it's not really a "forced conversion" throughout years that caused the number of Christuans and Jews to decline. The main reason is known to be the 6-7 October massacres (unfortunately) that happened over 60 years ago. I've heard many people talk about what happened to Armenians in WW1 (Turkish sources use the term "Tehcir while the Western and Russian sources use the term "genocide"). However it's first I'm hearing about Greeks and Assyrians.
One last question, which I'm sincerely curious about. If the Ottomans tried to force their religion onto the lands they conquered (they ruled over those kabds for couple hundred years as you may know), then how aren't all the Balkan and Caucus countries najority Muslim? Apparently 60 years of French rule was enough for the country of Benin to adopt the language. Certainly 400-600 years would've been enough to convert all the citizens of the empire.
