I know that I’m going to have to see a paridontalist , and the lanap treatment is my only hope to get past this oral complication Good luck to you I also have faith in a good out come. Post up your journey I’m right behind your trail to avoid all the nasty thing we all been told about with this decease I have a hold on my diabetes now I want to keep the rest of my teeth and rid of this pairadontis let our journey begin and whiteness the bone loss that has been lost ,return to its god given place and never deal with this monster ever again second chances are for real if you do the right thing!🤙🏽🖖🏼✊🏽👊🏽

    Dr. Urbankova, have you found that LANAP over time can be useful for patients that have experienced some more "horizontal" cases of bone loss ... instead of bone loss localized to a single tooth like this case?

    • @Preserveyourteethdentistry
      @Preserveyourteethdentistry Před 3 lety +2

      Hello, yes LANAP as a full mouth protocol really resets the mouth. It helps the entire mouth, corrects localized issues due to occlusion. During the treatment the clinician can see issues that are not normally seen. It makes the entire mouth healthier. However more advanced cases are harder to treat and the best is to treat as soon as possible as one is diagnosed. Also as the Paradont disease is a very complex disease it’s not really one time treatment in my opinion bacteria just come back in the body doesn’t react to it so the periodontal maintenance management after it is extremely important. As for the horizontal bonus it may not re-grow the bone vertically, but it will certainty slow down the advancement of the disease.

    • @dougtoombs9195
      @dougtoombs9195 Před 3 lety +1

      @@Preserveyourteethdentistry Thank you for your reply Dr. Urbankova. My issues are - I believe - primarily due to an occlusion/bruxing issue which developed at some point over the last decade, which I am working with my restorative dentist to correct. I have never been referred by my regular cleaning dentist to a periodontist for periodontal disease, so hopefully the root of my issues are predominantly based in malocclusion. In those circumstances, do you believe that LANAP can help reverse some of the horizontal damage? And if I were to speak to a LANAP provider about this, is this something that would potentially be accomplished in a single treatment, or multiple treatments applied at regular intervals over a period of time?

    • @Preserveyourteethdentistry
      @Preserveyourteethdentistry Před 3 lety +2

    I had this done 3 weeks ago. The hygienist first scraped all the tartar. Then the dentist lasered my gums. Insurance paid for 3 quadrants even though I definitely needed 4..so dentist is trying again for approval. They were just surprised they paid it! So, 4 now I don't know how much was billed. Curious. It took 3.5 hours😢. I was so numb I went 2 spit in bowl afterward n forgot n it just went all down my face! I was spitting blood outside my car door on way home. Ya gross. Needed Tylenol 2 sleep. Dentist said 2 wait 1 hour b4 eating is all. I had pockets and alot of bone loss/ bleeding gums..now no bleeding at all. Now 2 take care of black triangles.😢. I had aligners n straight teeth. Now all this..the aligners probably made my bone loss increase another dentist told me, sometimes that happens. The bone doesn't want 2 move. It is nice 2 not have bleedy gums anymore! Like a fresh start..The black triangles 2 b filled will b expensive and hoping not need gum graft. Both out of pocket. In 3mos perio maintenence. Ppl asked if painful no cuz numb..but definitely not fun 2 b worked on 3.5 hours n the blood afterward..n it is sore that night after wears off. Just exhausted when got home!

    Does a dentist do any bacterial swab to check the types of pathogens existing to confirm if there are any that causes periodontitis before advising whether LANAP is required? Since LANAP is meant to target periodontal disease and there are specific bacteria causing it, right? And LANAP is extremely expensive.

    • @Dandelion_flight
      @Dandelion_flight Před rokem

      @bina nocht After doing my research, I am not really 100% sure about LANAP. Especially it is extremely expensive too. Yes it can penetrate gaps kill the bacteria but how about the bacteria that is inside the gum tissues? If I have lots of money I will go for LANAP. I don't, so I go for four times a year cleaning by my hygienist. He does a deep clean and is monitoring my dental situation with xrays. My private health insurance covers most of the costs. Recently I had a tooth that got a little sensitive when I floss but few days later, it got well. I just keep up with my care routine gently and I believe my body healed the tooth. So sometimes healing can happen, it does depend on the situation. I feel that the most important thing is knowledge. We must arm ourselves with right knowledge which will help us make informed decisions.

    • @Dandelion_flight
      @Dandelion_flight Před rokem

      @bina nocht Oh no infected around it, meaning the gums surrounding the tooth? I dont understand how it was fine and solid and then got infected... that's so strange. And you even need root canal? Wouldnt you have gone through a horrible painful stage before the tooth is now dead? Well, I believe now that the stupid dentist I saw was exaggerating my problem and I allowed her to remove my tooth. And I saw a periodontist after that and had an implant done.

    • @Dandelion_flight
      @Dandelion_flight Před rokem

      @bina nocht I am surprised your tooth died without much pain. Usually the nerve would hurt so badly the tooth needs attention. So the tooth is able to be saved if root canal is done? I have never done an root canal before but it is also expensive and not a small procedure. Yes missing tooth will cause gum recession and bone loss so we should do everything we can to save the tooth, unless an implant is used instead (like in my case). Yes teeth are so important and we must take good care of them. The blood vessels in our gums are also connected to the heart. Dental hygiene is very important!

      Everyone is different, depends on follow up by doctor and patient oral hygiene. Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammatory condition that can be treated but not cured. I have been working with this patient for sometime now and she is stable and actually keeps improving. But again it is a care of a doctor and the patient together.

      @@Preserveyourteethdentistry I am very curious. Can you please explain why periodontitis can never be cured? Why? Wouldn't removing the pathogens and good oral hygiene also remove the disease? I understand that bone loss and gum recession - the side effects of periodontitis - are permanent (but even then now the pinhole surgical technique, gum grafting, LANAP all these dental breakthroughs can help the situation), why then is periodontitis irreversible? Can someone explain? Even diabetes, heart disease and cancer can be reversed and cured, why not periodontal disease? Thanks.

    • @aliceurbankova706
      @aliceurbankova706 Před 2 lety +1

      Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease with multi factorial origins. One is ones immune system. So is treatments we can treat/modify/eliminate bacteria and toxins but we can not change ones immunological response.
      LANAP is the first treatment available comprehensively able to remove toxins and bacteria a selectively diseased tissue and allow body to heal and regenerate. But one is not cured forever. The best success is in follow up maintenance. Or treatment may have to be repeated. Everyone is different and best to treat in earlier stages. Bottom line It is important to stay on the top of the disease and be proactive.

      Traditional surgery uses a scalpel to cut your gums, so the dentist can clean the roots, add the bone graft materials and sew your gums back together. LANAP treatment uses a specific dental laser (PerioLase MVP-7). The laser is the width of 3 human hairs, so fits between your gum and teeth without cutting. This specific laser energy destroys the bacteria associated with gum disease and activates stem cells already in your body to regenerate the bone. Less post-operative pain and usually less recession.

    Loose tooth never becomes completely firm again as lost bone can never regrow and LANAP can only clean the teeth root and its effect has been exaggerated for business aims. Waterpik can prevent gum disease and dentists never talk about it because it ruins their business.

      Actually Kevin, the LANAP protocol with the PerioLase MVP-7 is the only dental laser scientifically proven (with two different histology studies) and FDA Cleared to regenerate (regrow) the alveolar bone, tissues and cementum lost to gum disease. Thousands of dentists have seen the results in their own practices and patients. It's pretty amazing!

      @@PerioLase4LANAP This is all about business for dentists, no laser can make alveolar grow back. Alveolar bone once gone never comes back the reason why bone graft is done.

      @@kevinwellwrought2024 hi Kevin - it is amazing, isn't it? We have completed two human histological studies, both with demonstrated bone regeneration. They are posted publically at www.lanap.com/research/ - one is by Dr Raymond Yukna, and the other is by Dr Marc Nevins. Please take a look!

      There is no business in this; This is a solution to make patients healthier; in contrary removing teeth and replacing them with implants is much more profitable for doctors and then actually saving teeth with LANAP

      By the way I have been very skeptical until I have seen it numerous times myself.

    Hey Doc not sure if youre still around but I was wondering... I have my lanap appointment in 2 days for a back molar with a 11mm pocket and significant bone loss. Im just a little worried because I see pus drainage in other sites (in the mucogingival section) with no tooth mobility, no pain, and no deep pockets in the area. I will ask my dentist as well but would you any idea what may be happeing? For the record I have been brushing twice a day/waterpik and flossing daily and still notice these pus drainage (2 very other little areas besides the 1 I mentioned). Thanks.
