Written in 1918, music by Turner Layton and lyric by Henry Creamer this has been a hit hit and recorded by numerous artist for a hundred years believe it or not.

I picked it up from a 1927 recording by Bessie Smith. She played it in Eb, but it sat perfectly in C on the guitar (and who wants to play fingerstyle in Eb anyway!), which is at the top of my register for this melody. Hat cos I didn’t comb my hair!
