If I were a grade school teacher, I would implement this video series into my classroom. What a cool way to learn about the big river!
Yes! ⚘️
Excellent suggestion.
That’s a wonderful idea!
I'm not sure how Jacob's style would translate to a classroom. His videos are slower, methodical, and more chill in vibes. I would imagine most teens and younger would find that boring whereas we can appreciate how calming and nice it is, as well as the love for history carpetbagger has. I'm sure some kids would enjoy it tho, not everyone is the same.
I'm actually kinda curious about his stats in terms of ages of people watching now.
With that said, any kid would prefer videos to lectures in general 😆
I wonder if Robert Wadlow continued to grow even though he died a long time ago.You know, like peoples hair and fingernails Continue to Grow 🪴
“Here lies Robert Wadlow, amongst the cicadas.” You are officially the only person in the world to have ever spoke that sentence.
This is so true ☝️
It’s “part of the cicada lifestyle” is another statement that seems unique to Jacob
At least for another 17 years
Wadlow's metal chair reminds me of those blistering metal slides of my childhood 💚🫠💚🫠💚🫠💚
When you did the mother Eagle talking to her baby Chick's routine, I nearly laughed my A** off! "Worms, just give us worms!"
You're great, Jacob!
I think they would rather have rabbit than worms .😂
@@unclemetal8774 Rabbit is good! However, a bald eagle's dinner of choice is fish. That's why you find bald eagles up and down the Mississippi River during a freezing cold winter. They hang out by the dams, where the water is churned up and therefore, free of ice. Birdwatchers bundle up and turn out in droves to see the eagles.
@maryblaufuss7533 OH ok.
Jacob, my bestest friend/love/carer always like watching your videos with me everyday, he and I were really enjoying the Mississippi trip. I couldn't bring myself to watch yesterday as Ian passed in his sleep early Tuesday. Today I did as I know he would want me to and I got through 50 mins feeling a tad calmer by the end. Thank you for the respite from grieving autistic brain mode and Thank You from Ian as well as me for the places you took us and the discussions we had which you inspired. RIP Ian Bowman
So sorry for your loss May Ian rest in peace ❤
So sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences ❤
So sorry for your loss 😢 big hugs ❤
Carpetbagger got his Hams sizzled when He sat down in WADLOW's hot brass Chair. Like sitting on a fast food grill.
The Soda Museum was amazing!
This is why this is why I watch this channel. It's educational, entertaining and enlightening. Another great video.
The amount of knowledge that i got from the channel is enormous 😂. Jacob might be my history, science, geography and english teacher at once
Unfortunately, I forget it 5 minutes later. I wish I had Jacob's ability to retain information. It's impressive.
@@loravaloo55Me too
You better quit wallering around in Mr. Wadlow’s chair. 😂😂😂
I don't comment every day, but I do watch every day. I love the daily content and the longer length. I live vicariously through your adventures.
Have a great trip, Jacob ❤️
"Worms! Just give us worms!" That was amazing. Lol Thank you for bringing us all along with you! Only 8k more to go! ♥
I love those old soda machines.
You're definitely traveling through the highest population area of the cicadas.... Hence the "bug noise"
Sliding into the hot chair should be the thumbnail.
13:44 There are 13 Dog n Suds left according to their site.
Jacob, you really treated us to a variety of fascinating places. Thank you so much for taking us along. I agree, Max Headroom is very creepy.
Three Dog n Suds is still in exist in far North-Eastern IL:
1) Richmond, IL
2) Ingleside, IL
3) Grayslake, IL (temp closed as thay has a small kitchen fire, but said they will be reopening soon)
All these videos are so informative and interesting.
God I love this sh*t!!
Not only does the Mississippi River divide the USA, but it even divides radio stations in the United States. If a radio station is West of the Mississippi river's call letters start with a "K" and East of the Mississippi river their call letters start with a "W".
Yeah!!! Thanks for the Piasa Bird! Such a great Indigenous People's story!!!!!!
Loved this! What a fun museum! Thank you for showing this.
I had one of those Dog N Suds glasses when I was a kid. Not sure what happened to it, but I still have a vintage White Castle coffee cup that once belonged to my grandfather and I still use it.
I remember Term Soda from the Roller Skating Rink refreshment stand in the 1960',s when I was a kid n my Dad dropped us off there on Saturday afternoons!!! Thanks for the memories!!!
I never laughed louder then when you sat in Robert Wadlow's chair. My dad met Robert when he was 8 years old. He said that he came up to his belt buckle. Great program Jacob, you showed RW much respect. My dad was born in Alton.
Can’t tell you how many shenanigans happened in those locks during my youth.. ha!
Worms we want worms lol
I used to drink Patio when I went to a Bojangles in Wilkesboro NC. Was a red sweet drink from what I remember.
8'12" lol isn't that 9', I love seeing Robert at attractions all over the USA
They have one of Robert wadlow's shoes at Fast Eddie's in Alton❤
Hope everyone is okay after the crazy storm lastnight I'm in southern Wisconsin and the town I live in tornado sirens went off four times
Morning Jacob 🤓📸 more of this River road adventure. Thanks for sharing.👍
I noticed Robert Wadlow has the biggest tomb stone as well!
I thought we were about to see a cooked Carpetbagger 😬. I could see the panic setting in.
Welcome our beautiful state of Missouri...the "show me state" loving your tour of our mighty Mississippi ❤️
There’s a Dog and Suds in my hometown!
I am really enjoying your Great River Road series. I grew up on the Mississippi River in Crystal city MO. Spent lots of time in and on the river. When you grow up like we did you're known as a river rat. Thanks for doing this series.
Awesome video, Jacob. Can't wait till the next one. Safe travels my friend and take care.
We still have two Dog N’ Suds locations in the Lafayette, IN area
Hi Jacob 👋 your videos are so interesting and informative. My husband and I love your videos 📹 Robert made me sad. Thank you for taking us along on your travels.
This was a wonderful part of the river road. Weather looks good!
Actually back in the day Pepsi used to have a contest that you'd pull a tab off the inside of the cap and could win instantly a prize or a letter to complete a word to win big prizes 😉
Where's the Nuka-Cola?
I really enjoy watching your great river road Road trip series, Jacob. 👍👍👍👍👍
Worms feed us worms 🪱 😂😂😂 really loved that soda museum very awesome love old historical stuff 🥤 safe travels.
My Biscuits are Burning,My Biscuits are Burning 😂
I’m curious if you’ve been keeping track of the number of times you cross the River during your voyage? We love watching you daily and certainly don’t blame you for taking days off, too!
The soda museum looks awesome
Soda museum was awesome!!!
The drink we crave most 😊
That’s was a great video thank you Jacob .
Glad that your awesome video skills do not rely on your arcade game skills! Do realize that you have to play one hand only though.
This series of your travels are\is incredible. The grand old lady is something that almost all of us have crossed over, spent time near, or wished that we had. No matter what or where we grew up, the Mighty River plays some part of our journey through the psyche of who we and this country are.
Thank you Jacob for your ability to make us feel that we are traveling with you.
So awesome day had a wonderful time see you tomorrow 😅
21:58 this dad taking their kids to work day looks adorable. Lol
Thank you for this video very informative. Love it. 😊
Love all these small towns you're visiting!
I'm 66 and remember Teem and Patio. When I was little, we'd always go to Dog n Suds in Columbus, Ohio.
Someone musta spilt some sprite on their cigar. Thought. Ummm thats kinda nice! Lol. Thank you Jacob for the coolest river road trip ever! My sons love Squirt. thank you again Jacob.
Keep it up Jacob 🙏
24:00 Jacob's biscuits were burnin'! Thanks for the awesome installment today, CB.
Mr Pibb is Dr Peppers uneducated little brother .... I busted out laughing. I love comments like that!
You are awesome, Jacob!
Love your videos!!
It's not just the 17 year Cicadas, but the 100 year species as well.
First time I've ever heard of Beer being referred to as "Dad's Soda". Awesome! 😂
You finally made it to Madison County! Welcome to my neck of the woods, Jacob!
Hay you all carpetbagger here and love your videos and more criptid videos please keep this train on the track this boat in the water and this desirable in the air this one's in the bag.
I wish you would do a trip to Michigan in the Summer season n show all the roadside attractions n natural wonders like the Soo Locks at Sault Ste. Marie international waterway near Mackinaw City in the Lower Peninsula but at the Mackinaw Bridge 🌉 leads to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan!! When kids our family went on vacation in Topinabee Michigan to our Dad's friend's cabin, where we visited those locks n rode through them on a ship. Also, there is a Great Lakes Freighter Tour where you ride on the actual freighter. There are
Hi Jacob 🙋🏽. good Evening to you ‼️👋🏽.
Thank you sooooo much for stopping at Alton!!! That is my home town. You actually taught me a few things about the lock and dam and about Robert Wadlow. Also, my husband, brother and cousin were just at the Coke museum and Tias restaurant yesterday! 😊
What a amazing day !
Love the tour ! Awesome museum , & dam ! Jacob !
In elementary school, our teachers would use the plastic bottom on the 2 liter as a crayon holder on our desks. Great memory!
I really enjoy and appreciate the slower pace you travel at. I'm usually in too much of a hurry when I travel but I'm trying to do better.
Awesome video as always Jacob keep up the awesome work and safe travels
You sitting in that chair was some great comedy!
I've been learning a lot through this tour of the Mississippi. Thanks! 😊
Enjoyed the Soda Museum and Arcade, especially the arcade!
Good morning Jacob thank you
Good Afternoon " YA ALL " Jacob the Carpetbagger ..!!
Jacob you’re awesome, these adventures are great to watch. New camera setup seems to be making your videos even better. ❤
Simba was a lemon-flavored, sugar-sweetened citrus soft drink created by Coca-Cola in the late 1960s. The name "Simba" comes from the Swahili Bantu language and means "lion". The drink was test marketed in 1968 and introduced nationally in 1969, but was withdrawn in 1972. I'm glad you got to see Robert Wadlow's gravestone Jacob! Have a great day!
How the heck did you know that? lol good job
@@Heartfelt07 From google, @Heartfelt07
Stay safe with your travels❤
I know you said in one of your videos that you didn’t know the difference between what a ship is and what a boat is I’ve been told that a boat can fit on a ship, but a ship cannot fit on a boat
Did you get that from Chris Provost?
Great video today! Camera still working great you seem to be getting use to it! Thanks
What a fun museum!! I also love Squirt and Fresca drinks, thanks for sharing!
We need a CZcamsrs hall of fame!! Maybe one day❤❤❤
Love this trip down the Mississippi! Especially, starting at the beginning! The soda museum was great! A few I had to google! Like Smile
When I was young, our Coke came in large glass six packs, and the ever popular 6 ounce tiny glass bottled Coke. 2 liters didn't exist then. LOL
Oh, and "Tab" was the diet drink of choice. I consumed so much Tab. LOL
Great video, Jacob! I loved the soda museum. Thank you!
Safe travels 🚙🙏
Alton Illinois is one of my favorite places to visit ❤️
👻
Great video. Thanks for visiting my town of St Charles.
Thanks You for your post 😊
Next time you're in Eastern North Carolina, please stop by the Aurora Fossil Museum
My Great Grandma had some of those wooden Coke Cola boxes. She used to get them for her kids and grand kids at Christmas.
Bagger, I absolutely loved Teem cola, but I could only get at the Skating Rink in the 1980s. I've had Patio cola as a kid, but it wasn't memorable and I had completely forgotten about it.....
I Love R.E.M ❤️ I love orange crush😻
Love your video's I am from New Zealand and have always dreamed about visiting America's museums very interesting and cool...
Thank you for sharing the experience
Am I the only one who finds the "bug noise"/cicadas completely relaxing?
I grew up in Florida and I swear I remember hearing them that loud every year. Now I'm in Oregon and I actually miss the cicadas. There is just something soothing about bug induced white noise.
Yes
It is like the sound of crickets at night like when you are camping
Gosh how I love you man you make every adventure a adventure 🤷🏻♂️😂❤️🙏🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
7-up....the un-cola
Oh yea!!! SLICE! I totally forgot about that one.
That is an amazing place!
Super fun I used to live in Jacksonville, which isn’t too too far from Alton used to work for the newspaper. We did the Alton telegraph and the Jacksonville journal courier. River. Alton is pretty cool.
