    Touching with purpose is such an amazing tip. The whole point of a massage is specifically catering that massage to your client. Really awesome tips here, definitely getting that book and starting study as soon as possible

      Yes! We use Kahoot in AP, I find them helpful. I don’t have any specific ones to recommend, there are great ones available on there!

    Okay so this is probably gonna be an odd question you’ve never received. But I start massage school in a couple weeks! I’m excited but I also know as students we get worked on as well. Unfortunately I am quite ticklish! Is this something I should let my instructor know? Thanks :)

      Have your massage therapist go Slower and firmer pressure … that can combat ticklish clients! Our tickle and pain receptors stem from the same part of the brain so odds are you need work in that area! :-)

    I might consider massage therapy but idk, I’m scared of anatomy because I feel like you need to memeorize EVERY single body part, as a massage therapist do I need memorize every single anatomy part for the job?

      It comes in pretty handy to know what muscles you are working on, it takes time + dedication to have an understanding of your muscles!

      Your clients will want you to know. Would you be comfortable going to any sort of "therapist " that had weak knowledge about what they were treating?

    Appreciate the video I’m planning to start school just ordered the book you advised on. I was never good at the anatomy of the body/ science unfortunately but I’ve always wanted to be a massage therapist. So basically going into it with no education. Any other advise for a complete beginner

    Hello Hannah,
    your channel is great for all massage therapist's and students! I will start massage school in January 2023. Do you have any recommendations where I should start studying? Its been a while since I took high school level science( I will apply to college at age 27.) I know learning human anatomy could be really challenging and I'm terrible at science lol. Where should I start researching first? any apps you recommend i should get ? good websites i should check out to learn anatomy? any other reading material other then trail guide to the human body? what's the most important aspect you learned in school anatomy and physiology that i should study i would love to hear from you,

      Hi! That’s a great question, only sometimes when I’ve been using my thumbs too much! I try to avoid doing that! You will learn proper body mechanics along with how to set your table height in school which will prevent straining your back / body for a long lasting career 😁 I hope this helps ! Best, Hannah

    Hi Hannah,
    I enjoy watching this video. I’m currently studying accounting but I feel like I’m not gonna last in that field since I like working with people. Usually in accounting we just work on computer all day. I’m blind in one eye and I couldn’t see very well on my right eye. Do you think if I pursue on becoming a massage therapist. Would my blindness affect my ability to get a job or be successful in the massage therapy field?

According to AMTA - “Visually impaired people who want to pursue a career in massage therapy should know that their lack of sight may actually be a competitive advantage when it comes to skill. ...       I learned in school that shiatsu massage in Japan was promoted as a way for blind members of society to have meaningful employment. It's been done for hundreds if not thousands of years!

    Looking at the list of areas of studies in Massage Therapy program. There’s a business management in it? What is it exactly? Cause I am not all about math at all whatsoever 😆 I got scared looking at it.

      I went to a private school called the American Institute of Alternative Medicine (AIAM) - They do offer massage therapy at some community colleges as well! My program was 12 months! This will vary from state to state. Hope this helps! Best, Hannah

      @@danieljimenez5931 No problem, that’s why I am here! Of course, each school will have mixed reviews, go with your gut & what school will work best for you. I personally chose my school based on the fact it did not come with an associates degree in business. I will be taking a business class, but I’m paying to school to pursue massage, not business & marketing. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt, but overall was a decision based on my personal wants. My school does include a certification in NMT (Trigger Point Certification) which is considered continuing education in my state, & I have found to be extremely beneficial!! Not all schools with offer this though & it is something you can go on to pursue after school!! If I can answer any other questions, feel free to ask!

      @Sergio Godoy, yes! I took many tests in school, then after graduation in my state of Ohio, I was required to take a licensing exam to allow me to practice massage therapy! This will differ depending on where you live! I hope this helps, check out my other videos for more info/links on this.

    How much does message school charge you for the whole course?

      @Gerald Arteaga - I was able to source the average cost range is between $7,000- $20,000- which's quite a gap. The price of massage therapy programs will of course vary from state/type of individual school/length of the program. Tuition at my school is closer to 17k, hopes this helps! Best, Hannah

    People also have to consider weather this is a right career for them! I think some people want to do this thinking that it is easy, and that they will make easy money, nothing can be further from the truth! I think people should have the right mindset before going to school for this! You need a strong body and good hand pressure! I've had a massage, a deep tissue massage, but it wasn't that good because the person wasn't strong enough and i left somewhat disappointed , because i payed a lot. To get good Deep tissue massage. If you are good at what you do the money will come in, because you have built costumer satisfaction and trust. They will come to you because they know you will take care of them. They will spread the good word about you! I didn't repeat the same mistake and took my business elswhere.
