If you're still reading this, comment "yuuussss."
A lot of you are starting medical school this year and I'm SOOOO proud of you for your accomplishments. I want you to do well both academically AND MENTALLY!
On a scale of 1 to nervous, how excited are you for starting medical school?! ;) Comment down below.
edit: anyone that dislikes=dis-i-like (we know that's what you meant)
I’m so excited but very nervous at the same time!
Im super excited, i start on monday. Will be taking a leaf out of your book and starting my own channel as well ;)
so excited! but especially nervous about learning how to study and take classes from home 😭
10. I’m scared 😖
FIRST exam on Monday! I need all the tips I can get!
“All I want in life is for you to do well..” can a person literally get more wholesome? This is why she is going to be a great doctor
I just finished orientation today and this is definitely what I needed! You seem to know my needs all the time
I am a second year medical student and Rachel you rock! I go to school on the complete other side of the country and every feeling and emotion you had during your journey I felt the exact same (so first years you are literally not alone). Your advice is spot on for everyone entering into this journey. As far as resources I would also add in SketchyMedical. It is more boards focused but its really the only resources I used for micro and some parts of pharm (anti-microbials mostly for first year). Its amazing how much it allows you to remember and how enjoyable it makes micro. To all first years reading this comment... Enjoy the journey your about to be on. If you constantly resent having to study or keep reflecting on how hard it is you will be miserable and it will reflect in your performance as a student and physician. You are about to chase your dreams and its not something many people can say they have the privilege to do. So reflect on that each day and it will keep you humble and motivated. So work hard and remember to take the time for yourself, whether its video games, a hike, painting, planting etc. take the time to do it because it will make your more productive in the long run.
Awh thank so much for this comment! to respond to the sketchy part, yes! However sketchy and Pathoma is didn’t include because that’s more for second year (at least how my school does the curriculum). We do path and pharm in year two :) I think what I included is plenty to get them out on the right foot.
I really enjoy Rachel's videos, but I swear it seems like she's always close to bursting out into tears.
I just get passionate and emotional when i think about you guys (i think you're referencing the end)
Rachel, you emanate goodness :’( you care so genuinely for everyone, and it is so great to see!!! You make ME emotional.
Thanks for all of your transparency and thoughtful advice! The grind is about to start for me and your videos really do help calm my nerves!
the “okay byeee!” from rachel always makes me feel better lol
Just had my first exam today!! Thank you for all of your tips :)
this just made me so happy and decreased my anxiety for first year, thank you so much!
Yuuusssss, i rly love u, the way you talk to us n the way u’re comforting us is just heartwarming
The end made me so emotional. Thank you for the advice. It really helps🤗
you're phenomenon
you're always kind , honest
and helpful
i hope you stay happy , positive and have all the good stuff
i wish you the best Rachel
always
I really didn’t expect to feel such a bond with a person I have never met but the kindness I saw in you made me feel some type of way
Definitely agree with this, don't let anyone belittle you into thinking that you don't belong. You are where you are meant to be. Everyone is an expert in something it may be in a different field/subject but that does not make you less then. Love you Rachel and your inspiration for many of us so keep up the great work❤️
Thank you so so much for all of your insight and resources!! I love your videos so much because it really feels like I'm not alone going into this crazy, overwhelming world of medical school
Starting medical school in January. Have watched this video like 6 times now. Love when you go into how admissions searched for us and chose us.
This is awesome! I started medical school at the beginning of June and this is wonderful advice. Up until a few weeks ago I was stressing and not paying enough attention to my physical/emotional wellness. You should do a video on different small things medical students can do to keep mentally and physically healthy for 20 mins-1 hour throughout the week.
Starting med school in 12 days and I’m so happy you made this video!!! Thank you so much!!!
I just finished my first week of med school and the workload is definitely an adjustment!! I’ll definitely be checking out all of these resources 💕💕💕
Not a med student, but a nursing student who is starting a BSN program in the fall. This was still helpful and I can even share this with my pre-med friends thank you!
even though I am not going to medical school the end of the video helped a lot!
I am a nursing student and this video was very informative. There are some resources that you provided that has helped me along my journey so far.
Sidebar: I admire your authenticity and your heart.
PROUD to be a part of the herd. ♥️
Thank you for sharing Rachel! I'm starting med school later this week and am both excited and nervous.
this makes me so excited to get into med school right away! I'm sure I'll need this in the future
i watched this video when it first came out almost 4 years ago. and here i am today, starting med school next thursday, rewatching this video and so many more of yours. you have a huge impact on so many peoples lives, i love your videos so much.
Thank you so much for this. I love you! starting my second year of pre med on monday and i’m so nervous. thank you so much for sharing. Love u💖💖💖💖
I love you Rachel❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭 I was having imposter syndrome today (it’s been 3 weeks since I started med school) and girllll I just really needed to hear this. Love u xoxoxo
staring orientation on monday! thanks for your help rachel- definitely going to get some of these resources!
My first day of med school was 3 days ago and nothing could have prepared me for everything that’s been thrown at me in a few short days. This made me feel a little better, so thank you :)
Hi! First year med student here at a DO school! Stumbled across your CZcams and have been binge watching all of your videos over winter break! So happy to have found your channel because you have amazing advice to give and I’ve made similar changes to my learning style like the tracker you mentioned in this video! We start our renal block tomorrow and I was lacking motivation to study😅but you were exactly what I needed to get me up and started! Love your videos and hope your mental, physical, and emotional health is high starting off the new year!! Good luck with rotations and keep up the awesome work😊🎉
I got accepted to your school Rachel and I'm so excited!! I have been watching your videos for a while and I love all your videos, it makes me so excited to start medical school! You are going to make an amazing doctor!!❤
Thank you so much for sharing these resources. The anatomy resources are so helpful esp. for neuroanatomy. ❤️
I’m not even a med student but I love all your motivation! 😂
It helps me in life and my classes!
starting first year of med uni this september and i really needed this, thank you!
“All I want in life is for you to do well” is really what I wanted to hear. Thank you Rachel, being in healthcare we are taught to keep taking care of people, it takes so much effort and mental capacity, it gets overwhelming. Someone has to remind us to take care of ourselves too. Thank you again.
This is such a helpful video - I have already watched like 3 times!!! I can't wait to start documenting my own journey through medical school
Thank you so much for this video! Very excited to start my first year!!
Yuuussss, btw I got the laptop stand because of you and it has been life changing for my studies. Thanks so much for all of your advice. hope you are feeling better!!!
Thx for this video! I just ended my 1st year in medical school. I’m studying in Russia! I just wanted to say that your videos are super close and emotional for me, because I’m feeling same things. And your speech to audience is helping me to analyse my own thoughts. Also want to note that it’s really interesting to mention differences between your studying system and mine. I wanted to pass USMLE in my nearest future, so you motivate me a lot! Thank you again and good luck! P.S. sorry guys if you find mistakes, I’m not really well at English 🤧
Starting my very first college class in a few weeks and will be majoring in psychology but taking the premed path, I’m so excited to start this journey
really amazing content than anything else. i have ever seen on youtube....thanks rachel and all the best for ur second year
Anyone else keeping themselves entertained during quarantine by watching Rachel? :) And Dr Mike?
Yes! They are my two favorite medical youtubers!
@@kristenortega4329 Me too!!
Kristen Ortega watch KharmaMedic once
Yup. Plus KharmaMedic and America Revere, MD hehe
@@glysenelcarmela4436 me too, I love them as well hehe!!
Not a med student, but a 2nd degree, 1 year accellerated BSN student (graduate in Dec. woohoo!), and I love watching your videos. Your study tips alone have gotten me to adjust to such a fast-paced program, and I whole-heartedly agree on your points about mental health and imposter syndrome. Mental health is super important for students in high-stress programs- can't take care of patients if you can't take care of yourself !
I’m brazilian and student of first year of medicine and even if i’m not american , i love your tips and your videos. God bless you !
This video came in the right time. Two days ago i completely fucked my first anatomy test and was feeling very defeated and like a huge failure. Thank you for this Rachel, hope your second year is just as good
Thank you so much for the resources! Will definitely make use of them❤️❤️❤️
My best motivation.!! Believe it or not , i watch her videos every single daayy.!!❤💕 Such an inspiration.💯#trueherd

Thank you so much! I’m starting med school on Monday and this video is just what I needed to get back and know that everything will be okay 💕
Yay! Good luck. You will do great :)
Hey Rachel! Hope u are good... im applying to med school next year and im struggling with motivation... thank you so much for helping motivate me 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ you are such an inspiration❤️
I'm feeling emotional for the last words from her heart 💫
I started med school about 1.5 weeks ago and these tips were extremely helpful. Thank you so much Rachel!
How's it going??
l am starting med school the next year and l am so excited thanks for sharing your experiences.
HATS OFF to you and to ur hard efforts you've put in this 🌹
Sooo excited!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Rachel! Love your videos!❤️
Ugh you are so sweet and kind!!!
Hi Rachel! I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I wanted to leave a quick note. I’m a relatively new subscriber and just got caught up with all your videos around a week ago! I’ll be starting med school in August, so it’s been so nice to have such a detailed and unfiltered look at what my first year might be like. It takes away a lot of uncertainty and I know I’ll be much more prepared than I was before I discovered your channel, thanks to your tips on studying, living a balanced life, mental/emotional/physical health, etc, and just knowing what to expect. Thank you for that! I will enjoy continuing to watch you on your med school journey. From what I’ve seen so far, I can tell you are so empathetic, thoughtful, resilient, and smart -- I know you’ll be a great doctor! Wishing you all the best as you start your second year. :)
Awh thank you! Best of luck!!
aww love you thank you for the advice! This was my first week :)
I'm not even a med student, I'm a nursing student from Australia hahaha but I find you and your videos so inspiring and motivating. I'm so invested in your journey
i have an anatomy coloring book from when i took anatomy in high school and i loved it.
I start med school next week and all I needed to hear was your bit about imposter syndrome because some days I’m still like DID I FOOL THE ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE so thank u
yuuussss! There you go. And if you're reading this Rachel, thanks for all the content. Keep going girl.
I loved your advice it made me feel like you’re my big sis😄thank you for this video ♥️
Dr. Mike is amazing!!! He’s the GOAT
Yes! A laptop stand!!! Such a great investment! I was a couple weeks into med school when I realized my neck problems could be solved with this simple solution
When you said, "It was not a mistake" that hit close to home because I was already feeling that imposter syndrome, I teared up! I am super excited to start med school but so nervous, thank you for making this video :)
yuuussss
It's about to go down for me. Thank you for this!!!
Hopefully i will be starting med school in september probably and i’m so nervous thank you for thinking of us I love you
yay love this !!! haven't even gotten in yet both hopefully this video is still relevant to me in a year ;)

If you can please make a video about changing from PT to med path 😭 that would be so helpful!!!!! Love watching your videos ❤️
I love your videos.❤ Very informative.
omg aweee you're literally the sweet soul ever!! I love my time with you during these videos; its like hanging out with my bestie. Can't wait for your next video! p.s. I'm a junior pre-med neuroscience undergraduate student and was wondering if you have any advice for someone like me pursuing medicine. Any tips & tricks?
Awh thank you :)
Hmmm, check out my “how I got into medical school” video! Has a lot of good info!!
Another Great Vid !! You're such a caring, good hearted person ! One of the lights shining upon some of the darkness in this world. 🙂 I know you look up to Doctor Mike but you are your own Special kind of Greatness. Thank you for the inspiration and tips since I'm going head first into the PTA program this Fall.
Wahh thank you!
Hi Rachel thank you for the tips you’re so awesome
I'm not doing medicine, but I still lovee you're content. You're such a loveable person!
A rising junior this year, super nervous about getting into med school, but I hope I can make it!
Thanks for these tips I really like it 💙
Almost done with my first week of med school andddd the fire hydrant analogy couldn't be more true :/ Can't wait to try these strategies though
I was legit gonna buy that chair tomorrow on amazon, I’m glad I watched the video.

Yuuuusss! Thank you for this video!
Thank you so much for the resources
Hey Rachel, your THE reason I decided to start osteopathic medical school next year instead of reapplying for Allopathic programs the following year. Your success, drive, and helpful videos make me feel that I can be a great osteopathic physician like you! :)
Congratulations! :D
I just submitted my applications and am starting on secondaries! A video about finances, loans, and aid would be soo helpful
Thank you Rachel!!!!!💕💕💕
Love this! Very helpful 💪🏽❤️
Youve been helping me with paramedic school. Thank you!
Oh that’s awesome!
Rachel Southard They may not seem similar! Definitely not in length of school. But its like drinking medical emergencies from a firehouse and i was so overwhelmed until I watched your studying tip videos. Now i have better study habits.
*firehouse 🤣
