that's a smashing point actually. i never thought about it like that but it makes more sense if he's roughly remembering the kind of cars and tech from his childhood
I love this theory - would also explain why, when they go undercover running a pub, Gene charges somebody “18 and a half pence” for a pint. The pound was decimalised in the 60s.
It wasn’t Sam’s mind it was gene hunts. He died in the 50s so the inaccuracies may also be what he thought it was.
I like how the two characters supplement each other in this interview. Great atmosphere! ^_^

benanderson95 That's good and BBC should have done Kidd, Glenister & Hammond so that Richard Hammond could have done series 1-23 instead of series 1-22 and for James May he only did Top Gear series 2-22 since May replaced Jason Dawe staring in series 2, and for their fans in the United States they will be missed on BBC America due to their top gear connection and Sky might partner with CBS,ABC or FOX to televise Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond & James May on their proposed new car show on Sky Uk

I'm a 13 year old girl, and I watched all of the Life on Mars, and Ashes to Ashes, And I totally agree with Jeremy. The music of today is litterally bollocks. My iPod is now filled up with David Bowie, Billy Joel, Queen, and many other artists who were big in the 70s/80s. Some people just dont know what they are missing out on :)
I know im 6 years late but same here, my father watched life on mars when it aired, i was about 13 back then and i got totally into david bowie, and when my dad watched ashes to ashes i fell in love with 80's and audi quattro. Now im 23, i own a perfect quattro myself and i still live david bowies songs and all the 80's songs

They need to do a complete re-do of the presenter lineup and have Phillip Glenister as a presenter as he would fit the part perfectly, him along with Ant Anstead and Guy Martin or James Martin (Alongside cooking he has done stuff regarding cars for the BBC including the one time he entered The Mile Miglia).

Talking out ur arse Clarkson, the GXL came with a vinyl roof from the factory. It's just the badges on the left and right c pillars have E instead of GXL.
The test track always looks extra-murderous in the wet. It was hard to tell on this past episode how the Cee'd did since we didn't really get to follow any of the laps beginning to end. Will be curious to see how it fares once we can watch a full run quasi-uninterrupted.
Oh, and yeah, y'know ♥ Guv fangirling etc. etc.
Sorry Jezza, you're wrong about the Cortina, I had a brand new Cortina 200 GXL in 1972 Daytona yellow with a Black vinyl roof, standard from Ford

Clarkson screwed up at 3:01 , that's not a freaking '79 Allegro 3, those had large plastic bumpers. However there was an Allegro 3 seen in ep. 1, but the one in the pic is a 2 or 3.

A great lap considering it was in the wet. I kinda liked the "Are you now moving?" comment by Clarkson though..X) I´m pretty sure he slowed down so much you can run past it a second. Just for a second but still.

I've seen more than one type 3 GXL with a vinyl top, Check out "Pete C" for his wonderful Cortina restoration blogs. Now its the wrong DASH for a type 3 GXL.........
That’s because the Cortina is a 2000E with a GXL grill and fake number plates.

I thought Philip did a good lap. I just wish he kept his foot down for those last 2 corners. If he nailed those last 2 corners, I reckon he'd have had a faster time. Slowing down for those last 2 corners probably cost him about 2 seconds, I think. If those last 2 corners were faster, I reckon in the wet, he would have had the best part of 1 minute 52, thereabouts.

I'm more used with people who want to share information about cars, not with people who give me "I don't give a shit" and "get a life, you nerd" etc. And you're right about the fact that I don't know you, but I know what you wrote, I interpreted it the wrong way, I was in a bit of a sore mood yesterday etc. so I guess I can say sorry for calling you a tosser, if you took offense.

Oh dear Jezza you're getting it all wrong here, the mk3 Cortina GXL did infact come with a vinyl roof and that Allegro is a series 2 not a series 3.
Fyi the original Quattro was launched in 1980.
@mooseybee I'm just saying Clarkson shouldn't talk about Allegros as if he knows more about them than people like Glenister. I mean, Glenister was closer with the year, Clarkson should've shut it in this case. Unless he was looking at another picture while speaking. I guess you don't give a toss like any other tosser, but I'm allowed to express myself whenever I want to, that's part of my rights as a human being.
I will tell you the Ashes to Ashes episode, that REALLY made my day, even though it WAS a bit cruel. It was the one where Gene Hunt, naughtily stuck two fingers, at three girls, who ONLY wanted an ice cream. I wonder if any parents rightfully complained, about that episode?

Well, it ll started a while back on Machinimas, and was quickly noted by other machinima directors making jokes about them. Afterwards the crazed spread to average videos was quicly outlawed as an idiotic comment, to which the 'firsters' responded by posting these type of comments just in order to annoy.
So basicly everytime you complain, you make it worse.
