how can you tell the diff between teams?

1. Each team has its own classes with different gear / appearance
2. Groups mod changes the nameplate above your team members (and prevents damage to them)

How does it work when you die, you lose your loot?

It's a planned match (non-survival), so the game provides you with items. When you die, you just pick up new items at your team's spawn.
