I have had my EGO 650 blower for a few years. Its great . Planning to use the sawzall on the long tube, cut it down to 17 inches. smooth off the edges with 400 grit sandpaper. Then in a avant-garde innovation add the wide nozzle to it..SAVING MONEY !!

Your video showed up on my CZcams feed. I’m glad I watched it as I bought the Ego blower from my local Ace. It’s an absolute BEAST with wind power. I was so impressed with Ego, I bought their combo edger/weed whacker. Top shelf product. Looks like I’ll be ordering the stubby

Thanks for the insightful video Phil. I’ve thought the same thing about having to get closer to the vehicle with a shorter nozzle. I have the Milwaukee and use the XC 5Ah battery at max power on my 2017 Raptor that is ceramic coated. It gets 99% of the water off with ease and uses the entire battery (I don’t have to rush). I don’t wash in my garage so the reach I get from the factory nozzle keeps me from needing a ladder or having to bend over for the wheels. It’s light weight and a compact design. Not as powerful as the Ego (no doubt a great unit as well) but I like the weight and size of the Milwaukee. It does everything I need for my yard and driveway as well.
Plus the smaller batteries are easier to handle and store than Ego. I have an Ego trimmer, edger and mower and love them.
My two cents to hopefully add a helpful perspective to your video. Powerband is awesome as well! Fits my factory Milwaukee nozzle 👍🏻

I figured the best combination for my blower would be to get the EGO 615 that comes with the 2.5 battery and to get the Stubby nozzle. The 615 is lighter and 50 bucks cheaper than the 650 and the 2.5 battery is more than enough to last the 2 to 4 minutes it takes to dry any vehicle. Only sacrificing a VERY small amount of power. So my cost with tax and all is about $275.00 for my EGO 615 and the Stubby. Well worth it!! Great video.

Your bloopers had me laughing so hard😂. Thanks for that! Aside from that, thank you for making this video. I'm getting a new car soon and have to ditch the automatic car washes. It's cheaper with a monthly pass but in the long run it does more damage to the clearcoat and I don't want any swirl marks and scratches. So, I have to revert to washing my car like I did in my early twenties. So many technological advancements and ideas on how to use items we have around the house for other uses, such as the leaf blower to dry a car. Ingenious!!! One of my concerns was moving fast enough to dry the car as not to get spots. This method will wisk away water In the fraction of time it would take with any type of cloth, not to mention the amount of physical energy expelled hand drying a car. Luckily, I bought a greeworks 730CFM blower that I use to blow off the patio from time to time. This will be an wel omen use. Thank you again for taking the time and gracing us CZcams voyeurs with your bloopers. I would never edit out my bloopers. What you see is what you get. In the words of sweet brown, AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!

Yeah I don’t think the M18 will ever have the power of a much bigger EGO battery system and the stubby nozzle on the M18 might make it less efficient but what it does do is make it so much much more handy, especially with with tiny 3.0 battery. The whole Milwaukee stubby setup with the 3.0 probably weighs as much as the EGO battery alone lol….

  • @ZWortek

A shorter nozzle should maintain a higher fluid pressure at the expense of fluid velocity. The longer nozzle is basically allowing a longer period of time for the fluid to accelerate and the pressure drop across the length of the pipe will be higher than with the shorter nozzle. I think this gets confusing because a lot of people often think higher velocity means/feels like higher pressure.
I think it really just depends on the preference for an application as you said in the video. It seems many people like the short nozzle for drying cars but you have to get closer. For use around the house, it may be better and more useful to have a longer nozzle. Appreciate you making the video as I'm curious how people feel it works out for drying cars. Been considering getting one of these shorter nozzles for my blower.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  Před 2 lety +1

after using the stubby for a while now since I shot this video i honestly love it. the only negative i can report is the shorter nozzle does increase the sound of the motor which can get annoying depending on your machine and how you are using it but other than that it make drying the roofs and SUV quite a bit easier without the risk of bumping into the paint with the full length tube.

We used an Ego 650 for a while, was pretty good, but battery life was disappointing. We just stumbled across a game changer for our shop, the craftsman 6.5 hp shop vac. It has a 2nd port for blowing and it is crazy strong and it creates hot air, all for $130.

I would advise people to get the Ego 615 model. Not because it’s cheaper, though. It IS cheaper, I think it’s like around $200. No, not because of the price, because of the piercing shrillness of the 650 and 765 models are just not a fun time. Ear protection absolutely required on those.
I’m not sure stubbies are better. I do just fine with the stock nozzle attachment. The stubby would be better for storage, I’m sure. And it certainly looks better than the stock one. Are you really gaining anything though … bah! I’ll probably get one anyway lol.
EDIT: No disrespect meant towards Ego or anyone else.

Adams Air Cannon for the win! Way better crevice tool and enough wind power to complete the car or truck in a snap. Have 70 ft of cord length being corded is never an issue. Don’t have to worry about a battery. Not nearly as loud or cumbersome. Filtered warm air also! My opinion 💯🎯

I have this same setup for my Ego blower - 3D printed stubby nozzle with the blower band attachment. Really like it, but what I don't like is how difficult it is to remove the stubby nozzle should I ever want to attach the standard nozzle. Hasn't been too much of a big deal so far, as I primarily use the blower for auto detailing, but should I want to do something else with it, taking the stubby nozzle off is a pain in the neck. Is the Apex Aire you talk about going to fix this issue?

For me, I want a completely touch free experience and couldn't get that with an ego blower. Even with a fresh coating/layer of LSP, there always seems to be tiny beads of water left behind.
