I scanned an adult without a rifle! It was dead, along with every other leviathan in my world, including Sea dragons, except Sea Treaders and Reefbacks (Obviously). Here is some info for anyone who wants to hunt them:
Juvenile Ghost leviathans, possibly adult ghost levi's also, will flee after taking a few hits, like most things, but can noclip through walls to flee. (Oh I get it, GHOST leviathan...) so if you are going to kill them, then it is a commitment, also, To easily fight a leviathan of any kind, use a PRAWN suit, and the normal hands, they do 50 dps each, and can hit once every second, the drills do 28 dps each, so it's lower. Also, once you have hit them enough and they start to "flee", if its in a cave or lost river, get out and repair your suit, if in the open, follow it then get out and repair, you can more easily kill reapers since they pick you up, allowing easy hits, I recommend the grappling arm for out in the open leviathans, but it will sacrifice dps.
Go get them future doom slayers.
