  • Finally! Sorry, it has been so long since the last video. I was waiting then building my new kit CNC from Sorotec.
    Here is a video of my first test inlay and some information about the machine. More serious and larger projects are coming in the following weeks. I'm busy building large beech and wenge blanks!

    Bien sympa cette CN Sorotec, ma CN vient aussi de chez eux, et depuis plus de 4 ans, j'usine sans le moindre problème!
    Tu ne sera pas déçu.

      @@stephanforseilles Yup, got the Compactline 0605 here... Not as big but then I did want it for aluminium mostly... If you need a good CNC this is the brand to go for in Europe.
      I spent quite a lot of time on the phone with them (well over an hour) hashing out the details and they helped me to get the things that made sense and were open about things that didn't make sense (even when it would have been extra profit for them).
      And I was not a rookie either, by no means an expert ... but I had done well over 2 years of research and built my own amateur machine myself. Even so their input was invaluable. Especially considering I had some components already from my amateur machine (components that were overspecced on purpose so I could re-use them for the Sorotec machine). That kind of support simply can not be overlooked and was very much appreciated!

    I would be an 8 year old also!! Thanks for sharing this video. Can I make one suggestion? When gluing up dark woods, I try using TiteBond 3 Dark Glue. It hides the glue lines better.

      Thanks. I didn't even know that dark titebond was a thing! I'll check if I can get my hands on some (here in Europe it's not a common brand).

      @@stephanforseilles Je résides à côté de la ville de Douai dans le nord, et je ne trouves rien pour me procurer des avives de bois c'est dingue quand même lol. Dis moi petite question à part peux-tu me dire les vitesses de rotations et d'avance que tu utilises sur cette vidéo avec ces deux fraises bien sur, je vois que tu prends qu'une seule passe. Or sur ta vidéo tuto du logo youtube tu procéder en deux passes pour la partie femelle et trois passes pour la partie mal (pareil si tu as les vitesses que tu utilises sur le logo youtube je prends). J'ai cassé une fraise 3.175 dans du hêtre et le bout d'une fraise 15° dans le chêne.

    Hello Stephan, I have this CNC in my radar too and would like to have from you some thoughts at 1 year from the new entry. With your deep inlays, is this CNC rigid enough? Have you bought the performance kit? Measures are ok? Any issue? About options? In retrospect would you have done something different?
    Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions!

    • @stephanforseilles
      @stephanforseilles  Před rokem

      Hello. Absolutely no regrets! It's a joy to use. The assembly is not trivial, at least the electronics parts is quite difficult (I had to get the help of an electronics pro to understand the schematics, so I "outsourced" the assembly of the controller to him :) ). I'm still learning feeds and speeds that work best (because there's theory and there's every machine with its own rigidity and vibration frequencies...) I have the performance kit and it's very rigid. Measures where OK out of the box (

      @@stephanforseilles Thank you for the detailed replay, appreciated. For measures I intended the 1005, no thoughts about the 20 more cm of the 1007 or other smaller? I make more or less what you posted on your CZcams and I'm oriented to the 1005 too. This "handwheel" is really useful? I'm going to pay them a visit soon. Thanks

    Hi Stephan. May I ask what you payed in total for the Sorotec basic line 1005 CNC? I am from Europe (Belgium) and would like to buy a solid machine for (acoustic) guitar building. As I understand the prices on the sorotec website are just the "very" basic prices and it turns out always more expensive.

    • @stephanforseilles
      @stephanforseilles  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Hello. I paid 3.8k everything included, with VAT, in 2021. I'm in Belgium as well. But it was all in pieces, I had to build it myself (and get help for building the electronics).

    • @lush462
      @lush462 Před 5 měsíci

      Thanks! The electronics wiring concerns me the most in the whole assembly. But will check for this part someone probably. Sounds a reasonable price for a solid machine.

      Hello, I routinely make my free moves at 2000mm/min. I think 3000 wouldn't be a problem but given the weight of everything, I think it would strain the screws unnecessarily.
