That intro though--! 👏👏👏👏
I'm an AGFer here and I hated being boxed in with "The Grid" with past curricula too! 😜 At least for me, the AGF grid is so manageable and even helpful because, other than morning time, it's set up weekly instead of daily. We have found it so easy to adjust or rearrange as needed and still get all the feast completed! 💗
Yay!!!! That’s so good to hear! I love the weekly set up for sure!! ❤️❤️❤️
I love hearing and learning about all the options our there! So many amazing resources for us homeschool moms! Why not adventure and try it all?! Find what sets your heart on fire, mama!!!! It sounds like you have an amazing year ahead of you! 😍
Curriculum commitment issues here too!!! But, my issue is buying everything and then mushing everything together… so over supplementing and over commuting…
I get it!!
Ashley we are one in the same! I have a love hate for the grid!!
You know...I love grids! haha! But I don't feel boxed in because we just go from day to day rather than necessarily feeling like it has to be Monday on Monday, or anything like that.
Hello fellow grid lover 🤪
If you have time can you do a flip through of the Social Detective curriculum? Thanks!
A flip-through, yes!! Will do soon :)
Emerging from under the homeschool curriculum rock over here. I have never heard of AGF and curious to learn more.
I am so excited for you.
Excited for you. Can't wait to see your videos on it and the books you'll be reading. Love Beautiful Feet History.
Thank you for the video. Your tips are amazing!
I've been listening to Julie Ross on her podcast, and it's making me super excited to use AGF next year! I've been putting away the more traditional stuff I had on hand for "just in case."🤣 Yesterday I put away TGTB LA. It was a big moment 🤣
That is a big moment!! We are going to do a little bit more in my daughter’s TGTB, and then we’ll be purchasing it away too! Glad we get to start together! I’ve been devouring her podcast the last couple weeks 💜💜💜
@@JoyfulNoiseLiving I'm going to look into the Social Detective book too! My daughter has HFA and she's doing wonderful, but struggles with social skills sometimes.
Can’t wait to hear how this go for you! I’ve been looking at A Gentle Feast all year.
Enjoyed hearing about your selections! A Gentle Feast and Beautiful Feet are two that have intrigued me!
I love Beautiful Feet! I've used multiple unit studies from them!
Thanks!! They are my favorites by far!
I am so happy that you found something that is going to work well for your family. I had commitment issues with curriculum until we discovered Gather Round.
Love the intro... you are so fun.
Oooh! I was so tempted by this program this year. I watched all her videos on it, and her method. I decided because my daughter wanted me to make several things for her this year, I would not get it, but it is definitely on my list for future years. I am looking forward to your videos on it.👍
Would you do a more in depth review on Simple Spanish?
Yes!! It’s on my list, and we’ve been busy with other things with my kids lately, but it should be coming very soon 😃
Yay to trying new things!! ♥️
We are starting on the same cycle for our first year of AGF!! Yay! I could totally relate with how you explained about diving into Charlotte Mason and getting wet but pulling back.
YAY!
And I think homeschool mom's need to start a group FCTOC-- Fear of committing to one curriculum. (The name might need work🧐) I love shopping for new curriculum and I frequently end up with a bunch of stuff that falls by the wayside by the end of the year. 🙈
😆😆😆😆 I like your thinking!! We should!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 we need a support group. And I love the name 😉
Yes!!! Especially curriculum for learning to read! I have wayyy too many lol
I loved your opening..with the glasses and the zipper! I laughed out loud!
😁
Love it!!! Yes, same here curriculum commitment
Great Intro ❤
Will you do a review on the Social Detective if you liked it? Looking for something similar for my kiddos.
Thanks for the reminder!! I’ll do the review soon!
LOL I loved this intro!!
The social detective book sounds neat.
Doesn’t it?? I’m glad I came across it 😄😄
I'm excited for you to use A Gentle Feast! I *almost* bought it for our 2021-2022 school year, but ultimately decided to go with the Playful Pioneers since my kids are 5, 3, and 1 and Playful Pioneers utilizes more picture books rather than chapter books. I'm hoping to use A Gentle Feast once all my kids have started formal learning...I love that Julie designed it to work for families with multiple age levels.
Have you already purchased Playful Pioneers? Does it seem pretty simple? I have kids about the same ages, and I'm worried I'll be overwhelmed if I do more than just math, phonics, and read alouds. But I've been drooling over the Playful Pioneers for a year!
@@amydeterman1678 Amy we did it and LOVED it! However, I wish i had just let it be what it was. I kept adding to it and also somehow thought I could mix it with My Fathers World Adventures and also do MFW K for my five year old at the time. I cant ever leave well enough alone. I was convinced I needed to beef it up and I didnt. This year for my six kiddos we are doing Kind Kingdom and also Further Up and Further In to expand it a little for my sixth grader and dropped the notion of adding other things to it and it has been so lovely. I can see now what a gentle year our playful pioneers could have been. So we will be doing it again in a year or two :0)
It is gentle and lovely and so so life giving. It has the sweetest hands on projects and you can skip what you want. I bought my girls aprons and bonnets and my boys coon skin caps and wool ball sling shots. They still talk about that year and it was several years ago ! Enjoy that little age and explore together!
@@LearningPlantingGrowing thank you! Thinking I might just go ahead with it! 😊
@@amydeterman1678 You are very welcome
@@amydeterman1678 Im sorry for all the writing from my phone on a tiny keyboard spellling errors lol I fixed them
Social detective sound pretty cool!!
I’m looking into the social detective!!! It sounds fun and practical....reminds me of the fallacy detective (maybe just bc of the word “detective.” :) but the fallacy detective is also a fun book!
The grid is not a prison! We love AGF! I ended up creating a block schedule and then made a checklist for each book or subject and when we do school we just do the next item on the list! It’s easy! Lots of people on the AGF fb group share their own templates.
Oh, I love this!! I will have to check out those ideas. I am ready for something structured, yet easy, lol!
Yay! I’m gonna be cheering you on all year. :). The good thing about the AGF grid schedule is that its easily editable on google sheets. Haha...and don’t panic jumping from TGTB LA to AGF. Try really hard not to add anything to it other than maybe spelling if someone isn’t a natural speller. :)
Thank you, Natalie!! 😃😃😃 I’m excited 🎉
I struggle with curriculum contentment and also just wanting to get EVERYTHING. I'll be so interested to see how you like Gentle Feast. I looked at it and ultimately decided no on it. But it looked really good. I'll have to look up Social Detective! Always trying to find Social skills stuff for my oldest who has autism.
Yes! I heard social detective was recommended for autism kiddos.
I’m glad you knew it wouldn’t be good so you said No! Good for you 😁
I am so excited to watch you use AGF! Especially the LA. We use AGF "Sight & Sound Level 1" for teaching my oldest to read. And I LOVE IT!
We are using A Year of Tales (Beatrix Potter) and BFB Around the world in picture books Part 1 this upcoming year for my Kindergartener. Very much interested in AGF or AO for 1st grade. But I know it is just dreaming for now and I need to focus on now🤪
I wish we would have had a Year of Tales around when my oldest was little! That would have been a good fit 😃😃. I loved BFB around the world! Such a good one to do again and again 😍😍
I have the same issues, which makes it hard to decide for new curriculum.
You're too cool for school!
your hysterical
Thanks 😏🤓
I don’t do the grid anymore. I can never keep up with it.
It’s so hard to keep up!! But I see this one is a weekly plan and not daily. So hopefully it will be helpful 😬
How is the language arts going with a gentle feast?
Well, I have ended up adapting a little. My 3rd grader does his narration journal and his LA book, but I added a different spelling curriculum for him. My 5th grader does her narrations with her narration journal, but I've also added Fix it Grammar and Structure and Style from IEW to give her a little more direct instruction on how to format writing. And I just started her on a rod and staff spelling level 5. I will talk about this soon in a video!
@@JoyfulNoiseLiving cant wait to see it! We also do Fix It! And IEW S&S with my 5th and 6th graders. We are going super slow in IEW (2 year plan), but it’s going well…
I love your videos, but I just want to point out that with your pink border on the thumbnail I sometimes think I’ve already viewed the video as it looks like the red bar on viewed or partially viewed videos. Just an FYI.
Ohh!!!! Thank you for pointing that out!! I like to make sure there is color on it, but I didn’t think of that. Thanks!! 😃😃
This video made me laugh and smile :) I totally think we have a similar sense of humor!
Yay!! 😆😆🥰🥰🥰
I’m new to your channel...have you ever tried Ambleside Online? It’s much older & has lots of graduates (over the last 20 yrs)...I’m nervous to try a new curriculum with no graduates
Great question! Yes, I do know about Ambleside Online as well! I used it as a framework a few years ago. My oldest wasn’t quite ready for it when we started, but I got nervous and never picked it back up again. I see your concern about AGF, but I do know the creator has graduated her own children, AND it’s very similar in the set up compared to Ambleside, living books based. But you do what you think is best fit for your family ☺️
I do all the same things!!! I don’t think I’ve ever stuck with a curriculum for more than 6 moths.
Ha ha!!! Guilty 😬😆
You enjoyed playful pioneers right?
We are REALLY wanting to do away with traditional work and playful pioneers seems right up our alley, and we can still get our all about reading in as well(2nd grade)
😊
I did!!! I was going to jump in with the Kind Kingdom, but decided to do my own units that year. But it is also a very good program 😁😁 Some days I wish I would have stuck with the Peaceful Press units and we would have been fine ☺️
We started with AGF the beginning of this school year with Cycle one. I loved it but my children weren’t very fond of the book selections. It was a struggle 😔
That’s good to know!! I actually plan to adapt just a little bit as we go. I’ve already seen a few that I think won’t go well for my kids, so I think I’m going to change that a bit.
I really am just like you !!!!!
Ha ha!! I love it 🥰☺️
😂 I love the intro!!! 🤣
We don’t like the grid system. We like open and go curriculums.
Are u on a psa
I’m not sure if I understand what you mean? Did I appear in a public service announcement??
I have the same issues as you I feel you lol
💪🏼💪🏼👍🏻
