To me....that engine sounds better and healthier than the v8 engines
I agree it actually sounds like a real NA drag car
I think that it sounds the best and its hard to find an engine that sounds better
The only good sounding small scale v8 is the conley v8, the others just sound out of timing and lazy
@@tomsrelaxationchannel2998 The conley is the king of mini engines, by a mile, but this is the closest we can get these days. I've been hoping Johnny would track down a conley since he started in mini engines.
They sound lazy because they ARE lazy^^ no torque or better said not enough torque to really use them in rc cars^^
Back about 35-40 years when I first got into the gas powered RC stuff this stuff was a thing of dreams. It's crazy how far the hobby has come. I would have given a million bucks for something like that when I was a teenager lol if I had it. I can't wait to see what you put this in it's going to be really awesome! Right! I remember the first time I saw the Conly V-8.. Then I could hear Robin Leech in the background.... (lifestyles of the rich and famous) lol!
Wasnt expecting the glass sides, that was pretty cool. Great sounding little engine, 3D printed metal trans case is pretty slick too!
Id love to see some of these engines in a drag racing league setup. A class for 4 cylinders, V6, V8, and V12
I would love to see P38 lightning with a couple of those V12
None of these motors are what i would call a performance engine.

It sounded like there was something off with 2nd gear, possibly slipping? Really cool setup though, its nice being able to hear these engines under load.

Yea I was thinking that too. See the input rpm and then see the output rpms after each gear.
Things sure have come a long ways from the old days of the OS single cylinder 2-stroke engines, lol. Transmission is incredibly cool. Pretty amazing what can be made with those metal 3D printers.
OS single cylinder 2 stroke engines are still king when it comes to all out performance 😛
You can see the smoke from the heat it gets you did a good job at fixing a problem the company didn’t fix

One of these would be great in a RC Boat.
Cooling could be handled with 'Raw' water pumped directly from the pond or pool. With a gear box for forward or reverse operation
That thing sounds so much better than you would expect. I would love to see it in something like an RC 1/6th scale Legends race car build. It would be perfect.
Amazing gearbox! And the glass sides were good addition to the whole assembly. The engine idle sounds almost like my dads ford escort with 2.3l ohc without exhaust but little bit higher while big engine sounds deeper

It shouldn't be too hard to do a single-speed transverse setup with this engine, especially for someone with the equipment and skills of johnnyq90. Heck, I have a couple of transverse FWD Kyoshos with OS 12CV engines.
Really nice engine sound and it revs very good. Think they getting better and better with these small replica engines 👌🏻

From humble opinion, I believe the transmission should have a lot more grease in it or an extra pump to circulate & cool the transmission fluid as a lot of people I have seen by adding a radiator for the coolant & engine oil.

Absolutely insane what these manufacturers are putting into these small cars. Weirdly enough the only one I haven't seen yet is a miniaturized boxer engine, like an EJ subaru engine. maybe someday!

You're gonna have to set the servo end point limits on the gear change servos, or they are going to burn out. You can hear them whining after they get activated to change gears. It's either trying to go past it's limit, or is bottoming out on the gear change. It should move and then be silent, like when they are in neutral. When it's continually whining like that, it's basically grunting the entire time and causing damage

The transfer case is there now add a front and rear differential and axles and wheels and show us the shifting through the gears to show the wheel speed. That would be a cool small scale vehicle chassis

Wow,that smaller pulley wheel sure did add A LOT more pressure to the coolant-line! Great job on that! LOVED the clear windows You stuck on the sides too! And MAN,that think shifts VERY SMOOTHLY even without letting up on the throttle too!!! Great video!!!
