Im very happy to find this video and see that we were already doing this. Every child learns at their own pace and since my child is being raised bilingual, Im noticing its difficult for her to get down how to form sentences.
She's go 'blablabalablab papa blblabal wi tram''
While she's trying to say 'im going together with papa and we're going with the tram!'
its hard to get her to output the sentence truly, but this makes me realise again, that there isnt an issue at all. She's learning two different grammar structures and two different vocabulary skills in unrelated languages. She turned two last month and she's doing great in both languages in terms of vocabulary, I'm excited to keep encouraging her. Thank you!

This was very helpful. My little girl is 4, currently in speech therapy. She does form sentences, but puts them all together and her conversation makes no sense, like a run-on sentence. I will be watching for more tips. THANK YOU! ❤️

My girl is 4 years old. She hasn't started speaking clearly yet. She knows words. She uses sentences too that i feel she has memorized to suit the situation. But she does not follow a conversation. She seems disinterested in answering questions and responding. She is improving but it is going very slow. I do feel guilty for not giving her enough time. She hasn't started school yet. We don't live alone and she has plenty of interaction with everyone including her older brother, yet she is unable to communicate clearly. This is the only video that i have found closer to my problem. We are bilingual. English is not our native language. I guess that has made speaking more difficult for my daughter.

I was this way as a kid and so is now my own daughter. I began to speak at about 4-5 yrs and fully developed at age 10 (solid fluent and oral speech). I came from a tri-lingual home with an older brother who spoke fluently just fine surrounded by many friends as well. My daughter now has the same situation and is now capable of speaking but we are now working on her "connections". From my experience, I was a strong visionary and much of the English words and order structure confused my mind as what was important and not. In the other languages I spoke, it seemed to be easier to visualize and match orally. My parents were forced to limit me to just one language at a time starting with English as it was the dominant language and most useful in my environment. In time, with lots of help and extra language art work from my teachers, I improved. I improved greatly from weekly poem recitals and readings. It was the best format that bridge visualization and word recall. One teacher decided to get my IQ checked when I was in the midst of all of this and I passed with high scores and became a MENSA member in elementary. It gave my teachers an answer to my "unique" ways and to alll the "whys" they had about me as I was the only one in that school this way. I was super strong in math, science, and the arts. So when my daughter began to show similar patterns, I knew it would take extra work to develop the speech but in the meantime, I decided to give her math and science early on for confidence boosting and also to test if she was similar to myself. Sure enough, she excels in these fields too. I didn't know I was good in math and science until I was capable of speech and able to read so this was a self-discovery I made at second grade and I couldn't get access to higher materials until I stole all my brother's text books. After getting caught and punished by my parents, they decided to provide the materials for me as best they could at that time. I have done this for my kid with "kid friendly" materials and lessons appropriate for her age as a toddler but gradually increased it as she showed interest and progression. Her speech improved greatly after putting her directly in Science core class, a subject she loves so much, shows in science, and etc. Despite all of this, I'm always looking for other ways to help her along, hence this video with extra tips I find useful. Her mind goes faster than what she could put into words and she tends to break it down mechanically in her mind. Irregular verbs and other parts of speech seem so useless to her and a waste of time therefore, we have to keep her interested in the value of speaking well today. She is 8 years of age today, still working on her speech, but she is also already studying college level astrobiology and 💯 understands it and can articulate well surprisingly but simple things like...put your shoes away or anything not related to her interests...it's like a completely... different... individual. That's when I question myself as a kid and realized how all the adults felt around me then....😉.

My son just turned 3 and he is the same exact way!! I didn't realize it was really an issue until I met other kids his age that talk SO much more. He has a really hard time pronouncing things. He repeats what I say but it's no where close, and when I try to work with him on it he gets mad and wants to do anything BUT. I don't know how to work with him when he refuses to even try 😩 he will repeat something maybe once or twice, but won't try until he gets it correct. I'm honestly having so much anxiety about it that I don't know what to do. He tries really hard to tell me about things and I just have no idea what he's trying to say. I'm at a loss

Hello, I have made a better plan to where I can make more adjustments day to day with my son. He will be 4 soon and has been at the point of singular words for about a year now. He can recite alphabet, nursery rhymes, sing along, does follow directions when told to do his usual daily activities. He had a year of speech therapy during covid but aged out. I am back into the process of getting on wait list to reenroll him for services. I don't believe he was able to receive a lot of interactions with therapy being through zoom. He has been screened and not met any markers for autism. Definitely a language delay because even his word count is where it should be for his age (his pediatrician have said). Other than what you're video suggest, any other tips or idea how long until I can expect to see progression? At times I get very worried especially when other kids his age are more expressive and can have that back and forth dialogue. Which is where I would like to get my son to be

Thank you for this. By far the closest explanation to me understanding my daughter. She’s 4 years old saying few singular words but trying to put sentences together. When she’s angry she tends to scream. At her earliest ages during her months to and from infant she was okay, as she turned one we started seeing difference like she’s not speaking pearly or atleast tries but her screaming tends to always come up. Right now she’s not putting sentences together so I am worried because for her age I can’t not seem to understand what’s going on. It’s sever speech delay but I really don’t know. Any suggestions?
Also she will be going in for a review on Friday so any tips would be helpful

Very informative! I have a soon to be 2 years old and right now I am a stay at home father. I got time to help him since he is not in child care at the moment and honestly, we don't know how long he will be out due to the pandemic. I have been trying to figure out how to help him with speaking and getting across what he may want or need and these are really helpful tips! I have a question since we are both couped up, would an hour a day be a good amount of time to work with him on this? And if he has a clear issue of not wanting to try to learn or stay focused what can I do to help steer him in the right direction? Thank you! Stay safe during these crazy times!

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out with some great questions! If you haven't already, check out the 2 videos I did when I first started my channel - Language Stimulation Strategies 1 & 2. Those videos will give you ideas of how to just model language for your kiddos throughout your day. Concentrated time playing with them & modelling language is great, too! But there is a lot you can model, via Self-Talk, Parallel Talk, in the context of whatever activities you find yourself doing (e.g., meal prep, bath time, etc.) Check out those videos, and let me know if you have more questions! wow this video is amazing. So helpful. I have two boys one 4 and the other 2. I requested speech therapy for my oldest. Due to my work schedule and being a full time student. I noticed my oldest delaying compared to others his age. Unfortunately because of the Covid -19 the speech therapist was only doing at home visits with certain criteria cases. Others like my son would be doing a zoom therapy. As we all know with little ones sitting a four year old in front of a screen to learn is not realistic. When I was pregnant with my second son I felt like that was the most important time for his learning. Complications after the birth of my second caused for me to focus my time on my second child rather then my oldest development. Now I've found that I have more time at home and plan on homeschooling my children. My concern is that my oldest not putting sentences together. Should I focus on that first before diving into the learning by play? He said his ABCs, counts to 20 on his own more with help. Knows his colors, shapes, animals , etc., he can trace and do mazes, etc.. The delay is how pronounces his words and the fact when he is saying a sentence is unclear and jumbled up. Typically if he is thirsty hell say I juice juice or choky milk.. I could def use some guidance moving forward and am open to suggestions. Id would def like to know if I should first focused on the speech therapy first before schooling or should I do them together.? Id also like to know if there are specific tools I need such as toys etc. for the speech therapy sessions.
