Really good video. I'm an old timer (first babies born in 1991), just watched to see how you did. You did good! I have videos showing what to watch for as they progress to help new people too. I like the way you explained things and showed things on the doe. The couple comments I have..... Some new people think it's alright for them to be in "hard labor" for 12 hours. You mentioned up to twelve hours was fine, but you didn't stress enough that does NOT mean active hard pushing for 12 hours. You did talk about when they are pushing the bubble how long you should wait to go in and check, but It needs to be clearer that 12 hours is just light labor, not hard pushing. The other comment is something I learned the hard way...if you have backwards feet it is best to help pull when she pushes if it's not quick, like a minute or two. When they are coming back feet first the cord breaks, then their head is still inside and they try to breath and drown. So gently pulling as she pushes to get it out quicker will save you a kid sometimes. It's harder for them to push the kid out with those bending back legs than with the straighter front legs and head keeping the legs in position...plus the head come out with the front legs and as soon as the nose is out they can get air if the cord does break. But I really liked your video, I'm sure it will be really helpful to your viewers that are trying to prepare for their babies to come.

@@LetsTalkGoats We have Boer goats, and live in central Victoria, Australia. There are only a few goat breeders in our state, so I really value the expertise and experience you and other goat breeders in North America have, and the generosity in sharing your knowledge with others.

You did an awesome job! The only thing I would add is the snot sucker bulbs the use on babies. You can use it to suck the amniotic fluid out. If the baby is chilled we give it Nurse Mate. And you can use the towels to rub the baby to get the circulation going. Thanks for the video. We have had goats and sheep for years. Like you said, we get a little nervous. I like to watch videos like your to refresh my memory and calm my nerves.

Brand new to goat kidding. We had no clue when they got exposed and no clue when they'd deliver so we got suprise babies (1 alive 1 dead) wish I knew bc I prolly could've helped the mama and save the doe, but she is also a 1st freshener too. But I have 3 more 1st time pregnant females and this is 1ST video I've ever watched. This is EXACTLY what I need to know to get me going! Thanks for not making it complicated!!!

First time here. Great job on the video. 1, I imagine a milk goat udder would look bigger than a meat goat udder? 2, our goats are not as approachable should they be tied during labor? 3, what temperature is a danger zone? Obviously, drying them is important at any low temp, but I heard you say 20 degrees which made me feel better because I was worried that was way too cold... Best video I've seen. Is that a boar?
