- Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

Just to clarify, the reason we don't use straw is because it causes us humans to get itchy and gives me an asthma flareup. I notice the goats cough more with straw as well, and on top of that, it's just not very absorbent, so all the birthing slime slides right off and makes puddles on the floor. Hay isn't a good option because 1) it's expensive and 2) the goats will eat it, which means they are eating hay that has been stepped on/birthed on which means they are exposed to more parasites. Since a doe's immunity is challenged during kidding and parasite loads can easily increase during this time, we don't want to introduce more to her body. Last year we had used pelleted bedding in an effort to find something more absorbent than pine shavings, but when the pellets get wet, it turns to sawdust. It ended up being way more absorbent than we thought and so dusty, getting in the goats eyes and causing more coughing. Looks like pine shavings is the best in the end! Thanks for all your tips over the years -- we really do appreciate it!
Compressed straw is sooooo much better! Have you tried it? We don’t use anything other than that kind because of my asthma.
Here in Oregon is great, idk everywhere else.
That makes since especially if your allergic to it. The dusty straw is like the hay good straw won't be dusty. As always find what works best for you and stick to it. Straw works best for us but we have dirt floors and do deep bedding method
You can try recycled news paper shavings to limit the dust and keep the absorption quality of wood pellets. For extra comfort you can top dress with some shavings. Then to limit dust on cleanup you can also use a watering can to sprinkle water on the top layer. It’s not perfect but helps with the dust for both you and animals (I’m a horse person so have a lot of experience with dust and shavings in stalls lol)
@@TheHeavenlyHomestead That's a good point maybe ours is different here in AZ, it comes only in bales here or there are bags of it that is shredded down for things like guinea pigs. Either way it's just allergy-triggering tho, so probably not a good idea to try again.
I have allergies and straw, hay etc causes red eyes, sneezing. So now I use compacted hemp in my chicken coop. If I can’t find it, I will get compacted pine shavings.
So glad Junebug and Bucket made it to the list. Réjean and Mr.Sir are hilarious 😂❤
It's adorable that Honey will be delivering in the stall she was born in! If Honey has a doeling, you could name her Junebug, and if she has a buckling, you could name him Beans.
They already have name
Picked out and they are in the video
@@iloveowls90 We already saw in the video all the names. We chose two names from the list that we thought Honey's kid should be named. It was just a suggestion.
When horses foal, we don’t use the sawdust either, usually not even the shavings. We typically use straw so we don’t have the same issue, with the chips/dust sticking to babies face a nostrils :)
Lydia's haircut looks great on her! Pass it along!
I love duchess and goose.Such cute names😭
Aww Junebug got chosen as a potential name 😊
The best part of my entire week is when Weed 'em & Reap uploads! Hi! :) x
Same!
Same!! I look forward to it every week
Same😊
I agree!!❤
Absolutely!
Junebug, flower, smudge, and raisin are really cute names. Wednesday would be great for a black/dark colored doe
It feels like yesterday that honey was a little doeling! We all saw her potential from day one! So happy Junebug made it into the list! Was definitely a favourite of mine, I know I got a bit carried away with cute/funny names 😂
Yay! Weed 'em & Reap goat kid babies are almost here. Every year I look forward to your goat kids arriving all the way from Australia. My Mum makes a yummy orange cake with a whole orange in it, skin & all.
Keep forgetting to comment, been around about 6 years...about the time of the kitchen remodel. So thrilled to see your subscriber count where it is...1 million here we come!! 😁😁
My first cat was called Patricia! I didn't name her, she was a rescue. Funny thing is my next-door neighbour at the time was also called Patricia. There was a lot of comedy when I'd call my cat and 'human Patricia' would answer 😂
I’ve never clicked so fast in my life ❤😂
I saw this upload while I was working in my shed and came running inside in hopes for new baby goats. Can’t wait! 😊
Good luck I hope that the baby doesn't come to late at night. 👍🏼🙏😊
The names are hilarious! I love the “people” names like Patricia and Steven. I can’t wait to see Honey’s bebeeees!!!!
Patricia under all this names is hilarious!!
Please please please use Rufio for your best looking buckling! I had a bearded dragon named Rufio who passed away on my birthday last year. He was the best boy ever. Would love to see a spunky little guy with the same name.
100%!
Danelle's pen. I mean stall! Of course you need your own space! Getting excited about this year's babies!
My husband's vote is Duchess and I vote Birdie -as she's a noisemaker since birth!
YAY for kidding time!!! I love the pine shavings! We usually get the “flake” rather than “fine” shavings since they are a bit larger.
Poor Willow, hope she's ok! Honey is so gorgeous I'm sure she'll be a great mum!
I can't wait for the babies 😍
ah!!! Tootie made the list!!! that was my grammy's family nickname!!!! I'm so happy!
I’m so excited
Nice Beans and Noodle made it onto the list
I got so excited when the name smudge was picked I just love that name thank you for making my day ❤
Cricket, Birdie, Junebug, and Patricia are such cute doeling names
I think Honey will be a amazing mom. Shes a really pretty goat❤
Junebug is an absolutely adorable name!!
Oh fun! Cricket was my vote, and I can’t wait to be able to put an adorable face to the name. ❤️
I cannot wait to see one of these names the next Grand Champion! (And I cannot decide which one would the best/most hilarious).
What I have found so great is just getting the harbor freight moving blankets for 5$. Then we deliver on that. Fold it up with all the splat and goo inside and out the mess goes. Worth every penny.
Glad to see you back! Woo-hoo almost time for baby goats!!
Some of the names the kids chose are a hoot! Looking forward to seeing which ones are actually used for this year's babies.
Can’t wait for babies 😍
The names that were chosen were pretty good. I thought mine were better, but I'll get over it. Love and prayers from NC.
That is a fabulous orange tree/orange! I LOVE the names!
Yesss BEANS! So happy I put that as a name suggestion
Those names are phenomenal!
Looking forward to goat babeeeees! 😁
I made the orange loaf cake and it was a hit! Thanks so much for sharing!
So glad!
My young saanen wether was part of a themed kid group, it was bird themed so his name is goose, but we nicknamed him beans because of the Canadian bean goose. We’ve since been calling him beanie. so it’s quite nice to see both beans and goose on the lists!
them oranges look so so good
Aww I’m so happy! I recommended noodle and I’m so happy it got chosen!
I can’t wait to see Miss Honey’s baby!!! She such a beautiful girl I’ve always loved her!!

I'm so happy Marbles made it on the list! Hoping for a baby boy Marbles you constantly have to find! 😆
Woo so glad you chose Rufio, one of my suggestions! Excited to see what this birthing season brings with all the baby kids.
My autism daughter absolutely loves you and wants to raise goats and works with animals when she grows up. She’s currently 8. She picks says first girl/the diva should be Raisin and the golden girl should Flower or Baby and the boy is Chucks lol
Yay! I chose pig, idk if I was the only one but yes pig is such a cute name because of the book “pig the pug” lol our family’s favorite books ❤
I love watching y'all. ❤
Have no idea how excited i get for these videos
I have a pitty named Petey , and he is the best boy ever ❤
I love the suggestion list of Junebug and Rejean! Its so cute 😂
You picked some really cute names. You got this Honey.
One of my names got picked :D I'm so excited to see all the goats. Great choice of names
Instead of using powdered sugar and water for the glaze, try replacing the water with the juice from a 22nd orange. Like size when making the glaze for lemon drizzle cake replace water with lemon juice
Yum!
Hello De Nelle I'm glad to see you feeling good and back in duty. That's great to see Lydia and Ethan choosing the baby goats names, they always have such a good bond. The orange cake really looks yummy. I can't wait for baby goats, I hope Honey have the baby this weekend. Wishing a safe and fast delivery. ❤
I have just re watched 3 years of your videos, I am ready for kidding season ! 😊
I never realized how much honey looks like Tilly. I love the Tilly line so much, makes my heart so happy
I just made the orange cake, and it’s delicious!!! I added a splash of milk as gf tends to be dry. A powdered sugar icing with orange juice topped it beautifully!
Exciting!
Honey is so adorable!! ❤❤
That orange cake is a thermomix original recipe. Was second thing i ever cooked in my thermomix and became a family favourite
Bucket is my absolute favorite name 😂😂
Cute babies goats ❤
Love from Philippines❤❤❤
I was so hoping for a goat birth.. but I’ll be here when it drops. Best wishes for an uncomplicated birth.
I make a similar bread but I put whole cranberry and walnuts. I use orange juice and the zest... A lot of orange zest ( grated orange peel)! It's my Grandmother's secret recipe. People will fight over it😆. I only make it for Christmas. It makes a fantastic breakfast bread.
Yayyy i wait for your upload can’t wait to see the babies
You could reserve some liquid from the orange to make a glaze and then use honey in the recipe. The slight taste from the honey would probably be amazing.
Ooh yes the best!

Thank you I enjoy your videos so much, years ago we had milking goats and I still miss them, the work got too much as we got older
Good luck with everything to come !!! ❤️🦘
Adding cranberries to your orange cake would taste awsome, I think. Oranges and cranberries go really well together in break, so I thing it would be great in your recipe.
The buckling names are so good🤣🤣
6:13 such a puppy
"Until next time" stole the show 😂
I'm looking forward to little goat babies.
Good luck with all the kidding! It looks like you are well prepared ❤️ in fact I would say you are a professional 🐐
Hmm Goldie for a little doe! and Gordie for a little buck! I had a sheep named Gordon
in the past so I think Gordie is perfect for a baby goat :)
Your dogs are barking barking bc they agree they want the baby goats to come on the weekend ❤
I agree, I also like Patricia 😂😂
I love how Kevin takes a bite right out of the middle. He’s a big kid.❤❤😂😅
