🤔 NEW HERE? 🤔
Hi! My name is Christopher Odd and I’ve been playing video games on the internet for a few years. I really enjoy a variety of games but generally lean towards games with a unique and engaging story (Bioshock, The Witcher, etc), strategy/roguelike games (XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, Darkest Dungeon, etc), and RPGs (Dark Souls, Dragon Age, etc). Of course, I am always looking for great indie games too!

Gather your party, and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.
Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a Mind Flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.
From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.
Choose from a wide selection of D&D races and classes, or play as an origin character with a hand-crafted background. Adventure, loot, battle and romance as you journey through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Play alone, and select your companions carefully, or as a party of up to four in multiplayer.
Abducted, infected, lost. You are turning into a monster, but as the corruption inside you grows, so does your power. That power may help you to survive, but there will be a price to pay, and more than any ability, the bonds of trust that you build within your party could be your greatest strength. Caught in a conflict between devils, deities, and sinister otherworldly forces, you will determine the fate of the Forgotten Realms together.
Forged with the new Divinity 4.0 engine, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that reacts to your choices. A grand, cinematic narrative brings you closer to your characters than ever before, as you venture through our biggest world yet.
The Forgotten Realms are a vast, detailed and diverse world, and there are secrets to be discovered all around you -- verticality is a vital part of exploration. Sneak, dip, shove, climb, and jump as you journey from the depths of the Underdark to the glittering rooftops of the Upper City. How you survive, and the mark you leave on the world, is up to you.
allows you to combine your forces in combat, and split your party to follow your own quests and agendas. Concoct the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when your friends least expect it.
offer a hand-crafted experience, each with their own unique traits, agenda, and outlook on the world. Their stories intersect with the entire narrative, and your choices will determine whether those stories end in redemption, salvation, domination, or many other outcomes.
based on the D&D 5e ruleset. Team-based initiative, advantage & disadvantage, and roll modifiers join combat cameras, expanded environmental interactions, and a new fluidity in combat that rewards strategy and foresight.
through your choices, and the roll of the dice. No matter who you play, or what you roll, the world and its inhabitants will react to your story.
allows you to pause the world around you at any time even outside of combat. Whether you see an opportunity for a tactical advantage before combat begins, want to pull off a heist with pin-point precision, or need to escape a fiendish trap. Split your party, prepare ambushes, sneak in the darkness -- create your own luck!

You haven’t been losing actions, you’ve just been swapping between characters without ending your turn
im quickly learning they are kind of dumb lmao
"There is another torch up here..... do... you wanna kill yourself with it??" i laughed so hard, glad i have seen every ep. Up untill now, so good 😂😂😂
you might not have realized it since it was kinda hectic during the situation, but when you first did the exposing bite with the minotaurs, that was all one turn. you used your action for it.
“Bludgeoning damage is doubled”
Also
“I’m going to summon a sword as a spiritual weapon” 😂
You think you're being clever but all the spiritual weapons do force damage so it doesn't make a difference.
All spiritual weapons deal force damage though
To be fair the spiritual weapon is force damage no matter which weapon type
Hey quick hint for hiding with Astarion. You can only hide if you are not in view of any enemies. Left shift allows you to highlight enemy vision cones. If you try to hide while in view, you just automaticly fail, so always check first :) (Vision range is determined by light and Darkvision, so dont ever carry a torch on Astarion :D )
You can hide in enemies' view as long as you're not in bright light. If obscured or lightly obscured, it will do a stealth check.
@Saril1489 yes. As assassin (idk if matters) asterion always passes on reg mobs in their sight. So far. Lol
@@oneschwiftyrick Might also be something with light level and difficulty - I play on tactician so enemies having better perception makes sense.
@@holokom3330Very likely it does, yeah. They probably get better bonuses to their rolls of perception.
ChristopherOdd Gate 3: the micromanaging
If you’ve watched Castlevania (sp), Volo reminds me of the arcane gem seeking old man.
Mystra is the goddess of magic and sort of an incarnation of the Weave itself; Azuth is also a minor deity whose dominion is magic, you mentioned briefly him too
Mystra, goddess of mysteries and magic. Azuth is the god of Wizards

Odd with Asterion: 😳😉
Odd with Gale: 😐😑
lmaooo, hopefully Odd gets him next time
Luckless with the non morning people representation, love to see it
Where my night people at?
@@LucklessLovelocks Right here Brother. I go to bed at 6 to 7 AM. 40 plus years of night work will do that to you. You are doing great, remember it's Christopher who is Odd after all.
That 📯 for reinforcements was nice and MOON BEEEEAM! 😂
Honestly never noticed Luckless being out of it, awesome playthrough keep at it! :)
Starting out and the barbarian is the one making the Wisdom Saving throws. Bold strategy, cotton. Let's see if it pays off for them haha.
This episode is already a banger!
Wise beyond her... Barbarianism
please take this as a compliment. I have enjoyed watching your playthroughs because of how Potato you are . Your forgetfulness and and lack of understanding are endearing and frustrating . Because you fumble and make me scream at the screen , you keep me engaged . I myself, potato, and I feel a kindred spirit to your blundering style ,, I have never heard in all my gaming and D&D anyone getting killed by using a Torch.
Love to watch this series, keep up the great work!
I completely understand Luckless, my brain also doesn't work fully till like 10am
that's hes name Luckless so bad dice rolls :))))
yep haha
@@LucklessLovelocks :))) i am waiting for further gameplays
1:10 Damn.. whipped it up and took me back to the Dane Train. Awesome. :P
I personally never noticed that luckless was capable of being “in it” haha. Assumed out of it was his natural best state
You're not paying attention clearly. I'm always in it!
Thank you gentlemen, great episode.
Mystra is the goddes of magic and the mother of the mysteries that surround the weave.
Luckless sounded absolutely bonkers the last few episodes :P
I'm wondering if Asterion not being interested was due to a morality thing. He seems to lean towards a darker path, and you've made many morally good choices so far. Gale likely would have sided with you.
Every time I hear the word “shillelagh” now, I think “SHILL-a-lag”. Even though you haven’t said it like that since like episode 2. It’s just burned into my brain now 😂
„You‘re a good blower… Can I come over to your place?“ Out of context that sounds real wrong😂 8:32
Well played gents. Great commentary for a 🤯 game. 👌😆

Love the Dane Cook reference. I use that ALL the time, and people usually never get it.
Dane Cook reference, and wow I thought I was the only one who still used that line! Awesome stuff Odd and Luckless!!
You might be the only one who finds him funny 🤣
23:03 Mystra is, in fact, the goddess of magic
The Commander: "My wisdom is top notch"
Me: Well.... after watching you since the first EXCOM, I will say this.
"You have been chosen to lead this initiative. To oversee our first-and last-line of defense.
Your efforts will have considerable influence on this planet's future. We urge you to keep that in mind as you proceed.
Good luck, Commander"
And you have crushed it EVERY time!
I honestly forgot about his horn, I never summoned them until the forge. XD They died to Lava, but helped keep those hell bats off my guys.
Mystra is the goddess of magic in the forgotten realms setting
56:07 That's socool
@ChristopherOdd. We've been through this already with Vampire Survivors. Tome != Tomb
Don't worry I got this
This luckless guy getting in every line early
I first pumped when you hit that 20 hahaha
Fear of being bullied more makes a man take drastic measures, like waking up 2 hours earlier
No one is being bullied here. Come on!
@@LucklessLovelocksi wonder who got bullied into making impossible wisdom saves and getting cursed by a sinister tome? they already had piss poor wis save and now have disadvantage on those save thanks to the curse😂
@@ankitk236 I wanted to open the book. Odd was getting to have all the fun. The fun of the game for me is seeing what happens and not always taking the "perfect" choice. I think it's funny that the Barbarian who kills with rage could also have some necromancy powers to raise her victims don't you?
The horn can be used multiple times with a catch. Second, you might as well use it because in act two you can’t.
Cast the ground spikes in front of the enemy so they have to run through the entire thing and take 4 to 6 ticks of damage. Ive done 32 damage at lvl 4 to 5 enemies at a time. Thats 160 damage total from one spell.
SOMEONE FINALLY CORRECTED ODD ON "TOME" VS "TOMB" PRAISE SELUNE
8:31 We learn new things everyday
I love the opening scene w/ Shadowheart staring at the wall - was she misbehaving before the stream started?
Be prepared for the Gith patrol mission, it is tough!
Adventure continues with the Shrek & Ogre co. ltd. !
Already sounds grumpy in the first 1 minute.
Should have let the wizard open the book
Oh cool more skwatur's gait tree
You could use the left ALT Key to highlight things, you can interactwith.
Yea I pretty much use it constantly. 😊
Gosh Luckless 😂 "9am is too early" 9am is a late day for me 😭
I know. My sleep schedule is a disaster.
@LucklessLovelocks 😂 It's ok Luckless, everyone needs different amounts of sleep 😴
@@t1pp1egaming I just usually don't need to get up early so why bother you know? I like the night, it's when I do my best work.
@LucklessLovelocks Exactly 💯 You find what works best for you dude 👏
@LucklessLovelocks I stay up late and get up early lol I find myself just not really sleeping much 😂 though I do take the occasional nap or 2 😴
I don't even sleep at night so 10am for me is late
4:05 again. When you have linked/teamed characters, you don’t need to cast Guidance or a buff spell before the dice pops up.
You'd think BUT it's not consistently allowing us to choose it in dialog options. The ONLY way it's been consistent is casting it before a roll.
No belly rubs, only death!
Shadowheart is the Cleric of Shard ...Selune's temple of COURSE would shoot her.
I thought she was the cleric of Sharts
I'd have thought 2 Minotaurs would have made a FINE feast for them....Just saying.
Get a good roll here! Gets a 3!
my advice, buff itself with potions(to stats, more hp, bless spell or scroll if you have it, also i think you can use alchemical fire on weapon or poison, buff on AC) before big fights, otherwise will be more difficult without buffs, boss will kills you with 2 hits.
you should have do finish blow for minotaur. experience it's all.
Note to Self: Underdark starts here
Chris needs to play some real D&D with some friends im sure it would be amazing.
was not trying to come off as adamant, was just trying to help familiarize yourself more with the lore
Apparently they’re into Bad Boys in this realm
In defense of shadowheart, clerics have a lot of good bonus action options. You've already made good use of spiritual weapon which is great for action economy, PLUS enemies love wasting their attacks on it.
Thanks! I like Shadowheart a lot. I think it's a good idea to keep using the same class as we're learning the systems. We'll learn the intricacies. If we keep switching it's like starting all over.
@@LucklessLovelocks I like all of the origin characters a lot. You should check out Shadowheart's "invoke duplicity" ability (channel divinity from her trickery domain). Not sure I've seen it used yet. Perfect for a melee buddy since you're controlling Karlach as well.
@@WilliamALayton yep I did use it on the golbins that were attacking the grove to see what it did. It's concentration though so I'd say Bless is better overall? What do you think?
@@LucklessLovelocks both are good. It depends on the orientation of enemies, but if you have, say, Odd and Karlach attacking one big bad, Duplicity would grant both of them indefinite advantage on attacks as long as no one is moving around too much. Works as long as both the attacking ally and target enemy are within 3m of the illusion. It also draws from divinity rather than your spell slots so that's another consideration.
As an aside, I don't think trickery is a domain I'd ever think to pick for a Cleric (5e or BG3) but it's actually pretty neat so far.
@@WilliamALayton wasn't Jester from Critical Role season 2 trickery domain? She was a great character. It matches Shadowheart's character really well also but in a... darker way haha
yes if this ogres will be forever with you that will be cool, i would be save item until when you need fighting to boss or bunch of enemies.
at later levels druid can cast spells while in wildshape, 18th level to be specific
I think the level cap in BG3 is 12?
that would be extremely odd for a dnd game especially one ment to use a version of the 5e system@@ChristopherOdd
from what i could find apparently that is the case, which is still odd, what sources i found speculate quote "Having said that, BG3 is based on D&D’s 5th Edition rules, where the max level is capped at Level 20. So, there is a slight possibility for Larian Studios to increase BG3’s current level cap through future updates, expansions or DLCs."@@ChristopherOdd
I think I remember them saying they'll stop at 12, which makes sense. It gets really hard to go into higher levels in tabletop already because of how many possibilities players have, for a video game you'd have to remove most of the spells to have a chance at it being cohesive@@digunder14
yayyyyyyy
Drugs are bad mmkay
i understand about sleep, insomnia is my main enemy.
It's the worst. I also have sleep apnea so have to use a CPAP.
@@LucklessLovelocks not saw comment, yes I have some fear, I wanna sleep but can't.
Are you allergic to long rests? lol
Could you have started battle with a single stealth char and just throw those orges in there then ?
Hi, Odd! Just wanted to point out that healing dnd is not designed to keep you at full health. Its design is to prevent death, with only a few spells doing really good healing. Consider a healing word that heals 6 HP. Useless as a heal on a character who is still fighting, but incredible at reviving a downed character. This is an intentional design choice for DND to prevent combat from becoming a healing war that lasts for hours.
Yep. We pretty much stop using healing spells as they're way less effective than damage/control unless you're bringing someone back mid fight.
The people saying Shilaylay are wrong
In regards to the Necromancy Book, I don't think you'll be able to do anything with that till after Act 2 ends.
I'M A JUNKIE!
If you had used the wizard gale you could have skipped some of the saves
anyone els anoyd that he is refusing to try his new wild shape that he got a lvl 3 alongside the raven?
i have ben waiting for that for so long
We try it soon. It’s a bit finicky.
This luckless guy - he sounds kinda tired.
Fank 'em Jonh

Clerics can be powerful, just give her heavy armor. you used to be able to stack bless.
Only life clerics can equip heavy armor. She's a trickery domain cleric probably because she's a cleric of Shar who seems a bit.... Shady to say the least.
@@LucklessLovelockspretty sure there was a feat they could give her to allow her to use heavy armor.
@@That_One_Guy101 ah yeah. It's not a bad idea to take that. Maybe the next time I get to pick it. Honestly she seems pretty powerful to me so far. Clerics are very flexible it looks like.
@@LucklessLovelocksmight make more sense to take one level of Paladin unless ASI is a class feature in BG3 the way it is in 5e rules
I turned her into a Tempest cleric. Much better for me 👍
Just a FYI, you don't always need advantage to do sneak attacks, for both melee and ranged you can get the sneak attack off as long as the enemy is within engagement range of one of your allies and you don't have disadvantage.
Yea then being engaged gives advantage too.
@@ChristopherOddNo it doesn't. You just don't need advantage if the target is threatened.
@@brandman965 I’m pretty sure it shows as advantaged on a ranged sneak shot with astarion if the enemy is engaged with another ally. Either way, we understand how it works now.
@@ChristopherOdd If it shows as advantage you're getting that from something else, not the threatened status
@@brandman965 yea I’ll just double check the info under all the attack info when targeting next time. Either way. Advantage or not, we know what we need to do to be able to use the sneak attacks
Have you guys ever noticed that Luckless sounds completely out of it? Let us know in the comments.
Nope
Wake up at 11? You must be training to be a manager somewhere… make sure to go home at 3 though, beat the traffic and all that…
Honestly I just don't have a reason to wake up early usually so why bother you know? I like the night. It's when I'm at my best.
As a night owl I get you @@LucklessLovelocks
Itwould be better to just stay in cat form and retreat through that hole I assume? Letting tjem die to those laser beams
You often sound out of it Luckless, sorry dude. I just thought you lived in California.
Loving the series guys!
Yeah man
sadly the dark urge should of used the book
It's a good idea Andrew not to advertise that you've played dnd before. You are the most distracted millennium I've seen on CZcams.
I think you meant Millennial.... I'm not sure what having played D&D before has to do with being overly distracted. Given all your insulting comments against me I'd say you're the biggest loser I've ever seen in the CZcams comments section.
switch out the party members ..... just try it
shadowheart most likely specializes in blunt weapons. this means she can only carry maces, clubs, margenstern, other weapons will give her a penalty. for a druid, clubs can also be suitable, the scimitar was my favorite weapon, it did a lot of damage with specialization and cleave. As others have said, it's better for a vampire to take a short sword or just rapiers, but I personally prefer a dagger and a short sword with bonuses.
Is the sneaking saving you from the temple defences because it's a temple of that sneaky/darkness goddess?
Just the opposite. It's the temple of Selune. Shadowheart got blasted cause she is from her enemy Shard. The others she didn't care about, they aren't sworn believers of an enemy God. Pretty sure that's what was going on.
Why would you let Carlach do the wisdom role for the book, that makes no sense for me.
Why not? Anyone can do anything. In this case Odd was getting to do some cool stuff and I wanted to also. You can of course play how you want but you don't always have to play the way that makes sense. It's an open ended game.
@@LucklessLovelocks Yeah, obviously it is your game. You can do what is fun for you. I just thought from a roleplaying and possible risk perspective opening the evil book with a barbarian is not really effective :)
I don't think she's much of a thinker haha. Maybe she thought it would have some knowledge that could help her with her infernal engine?@@aljoschaniehoff8277

I’m just going to retract the entire statement. But I will try to also find out the answer on why you didn’t have an action on that new turn as well as you. Had to confirm myself that I said something stupid before editing my comment
Odd: Uses Exposing Bite attack as an action and doesn't end turn for The Dark Urge
Odd: Switches to Asterian, spends 2 minutes deciding what to do, does sneak attack and ends turn.
Odd: Clicks on the Dark Urge, why don't I have an action?
Every playthrough I have watched on this game no one uses a rogue right. You don't need to hide when a friendly is in melee with an enemy
worst panic button mash ever, why'd you spend the bloomin horn on this measly morsel??
I feel like this bg3 playthrough is a trainwreck lol. These two could have the best gear and build possible but it wouldn't matter because their lack of 5e dnd knowledge and experience allows them to unlock only a small fraction of potential of any character that they play.
I think we're doing amazing! You're a min maxer and that's great but that's not how everyone enjoys playing and that's also fine. We're playing on the hardest difficulty and still making it through just fine playing our way. We'll learn and get better as we go. I love that process. Discovery is the fun part for me! If you want to give us some tips please do. Saying the playthrough is a trainwreck isn't very helpful at all to us.
30 minutes for 1 battle.... my dudes, you've got to edit fights like that down some. I'm enjoying the series, but taking 5 minutes every action to look at spells and all is a bit much. Everything else is great. Just please edit down the more .... crawling pace battles. Also, for the book of thay, you have to get to baldurs gate, find the necromancer house in the bottom left of the area, break in, invisible or you'll have to fight the zombies guarding him, talk to him to get the next bit of info, and talk to the girl at the magic tower, go to her office, find the secret entrance, go through the maze of rooms and finally find the codex. If you pass the check you'll get a spell to summon 6 ghouls anytime. Very powerful spell.
no spoiiiilers also we generally don't edit playthroughs as we want to share as much of the raw experience as possible.
