  • Hi! Today I wanted to share with you my way of doing wedding invitations out of Handmade Paper, because we’ve all seen lots of posts on Pinterest with handmade paper invitations that look so fancy and cool, but they are super expensive.
    Tips:
    ● If you want to try this for your wedding PLEASE start ASAP, because it will take some time to perfect it . After 1 month of making and trying different ways of doing this, I do like 20-30 sheets per day, and for my wedding invitations I need somewhere between 300-400,that’s because I use 2 sheets on one invitation. The issue with this is that not all sheets will came out great, so you will need time to remake them.
    ● Don’t throw away any bad looking sheet, reuse them, it’s totally fine. You can reuse them even if they are alredy printed.
    ● For the printing part, I do have my own printer ( Canon Pixma IP2750 ), this printer supports 13x18 ( 5" x 7") paper size. If your printer only allows you to print A4 sheets, you can make the paper A4 size and try to print it. Now if you don’t have a printer, you can try find any printing houses that allow you to bring your own paper. It not that expensive.
    ● The paper I buy is cheap, as I said in the video, the watercolor one was about 2 dollars, the sketch one the same, and the printer paper was 3 dollars for 500 sheets. So with 5-6 dollars you can make lots of sheets. I use like 1 sheet of watercolor, with one of the sketch paper + 10 of the printer paper, and I make like 10-15 of 5" x 7" paper size, so the ratio will be 1:1:10, BUT my advice is to try and see what works for you.
    DISCLAMER
Please note that I am not a professional or an expert in making Handmade Paper or Wedding Invitations, and this is NOT a video about how to recycle paper, you can see that I use new paper, but you can definitely use old paper, but be aware that this will affect the way the printing will look.
English is not my native language so, sorry for any spelling mistakes!
Thanks for being here and I really hope you enjoyed this DIY tutorial!

it comes out better when you leave the paper soaking in water over night.....easier to blend and you get a really good pulp.....junk mail paper is best andreally saves you time and money and its sustainable.... nice work

Hey there! Might be a bit of a silly question, but when printing at home, because the invitation cards will be smaller than regular printing paper, do you essentially just put the paper as best you can in the middle and hope that it prints centred? Trying to figure out the logistics of printing on smaller handmade paper :)

You can set the size of the paper in the printer setting and if u'r using word doc, u can set size there too.
If u r using word doc,
      1. Click print button
      2. A display section will appear where u can choose which no. pages u want to print, print on both sides etc, u will see a box with 'paper size'.
      3. When u click that, it'll show u the sizes that can fit in a standard printer like legal letter 8'×11', A4, A5, B5 n etc. Scroll down, u can find 'custom size'.
      4. Click that, another box will appear for u to state the measurment of ur paper.
      5. Then click ok.
      6. Find the print button and click print.
This is a general steps for all printer actually tho the layout of the boxes or pop outs will be differ from each brand.

Hi! You need a printer that actually prints in that format. For example the printer i used for this invitations (Canon Pixma IP 7250) can print photos too, so when printing, i choose the format 5"*7"(13*18 cm). The printer has an PC app that can help you with that. Hope that helps!
I will soon post another video with wedding invitations, way easier that this method, and with the same look. So stay tuned!

Hi, thank you ! I used for this one the Canon Pixma IP2750, but i think you can use any printer that prints photos, or any printer that prints thicker paper.

you have missed the point here. you are buying paper to make paper. it is not hand made when it was all pristine in the 1st place and you just put it back together. i don't see the point.

Hi Hazel, again, i made this paper for wedding invitations. The paper does not have the same look in the begging and in the end. This video was made for people who want to make this kind of invitations, people who want to achive this paper look, affordable, they are really expensive in shops. And again, You can use any kind of old paper, but I really wanted the paper to be white, for printing purpose. And i will say this again, i made a video about wedding invitations, not a video on how to recycle paper.
