Well, your first mistake was going to Goodwill. Despite the name and the image they've worked so hard to make over the last however many years they've been operating, they consistently fail to meet the requirements to actually be a 503c charitable organization. The issue is, the fine they pay on a yearly basis is only a small fraction of their profits and in no way incentivizes them to change their behavior.

A LOT of those booths are being used as the persons legitimate store. It’s significantly less expensive than trying to lease a building. Traffic at flea markets can be very high. This allows sellers to maintain a low overhead, leaving more profit overall. Your flea market booth can carry expensive items or cheap dime store type products. What and how you want to sell it is your business.

      @LilyoftheLake14 Před rokem +12

@@borates youll have to die after painting maybe 10-30 paintings. The value increases after death because then you can't create anymore paintings lol. I guess you could try to fake your death or pretend to be your twin or sibling to sell them? 🤷‍♀️ You'll probably be caught though and end up in prison. So... sorry. Van Gogh could never sell his paintings while alive and even begged his landlord to take a painting in place of rent for a month and the landlord declined...
Ooo, if you die tragically and young, you could very well start selling your paintings for 100s of thousands and eventually in the millions one day. Auction houses are the best.... And you'll need to have your own style and be actually talented...
Unless you go into avant garde abstract where a canvas painted in red with a line of blue at the top will sell for millions. Wait... 🤔😧🤑
Ignore my first suggestion, just go into avant garde abstract and paint colors. Then get really good at bullshitting people. Youll need to do interviews and whenever an art critic or journalist walks up to you at an exhibit to ask, "What is the meaning behind this painting?"
You'll need to respond with something like, "the red filling the canvas represents the anguish i feel in my soul. It's my constant internal fight for hapiness. The blue line at the top is a satire of "feeling blue" and represents the calm that i so rarely get in my mind. The blue isn't happiness, but it's being comfortable with myself. The blue being in a thin line represents how difficult it is to follow that path."
You can always go with the cliché of "Every interpretation is correct. Whatever you felt and interpreted from my art is correct." Lol

Guys… if $14,000 is a lot of money to you, I am sorry to inform you but you’re either a teenager or you’re living your life with questionable choices.
      You need to:
      (1) figure out exactly what you want from life
      (2) figure out what you love to do (generally speaking it is something you would do for free or delayed reward without feeling like it is work), that also allows infinite income potential (no cap on potential earnings). If you don’t know, then look around, or business.
      (3) identify the skill you need to accomplish #2 to an extremely high degree of success. Read or listen to the book called Mastery by Robert Greene.
      (4) commit your entire life to accomplishing mastery in #3 and using that to succeed in #2. The commitment must be absolute and unwavering, it should be your purpose for living. Ask yourself why you want what you want, and make that “why” the centerpiece of your commitment.
      (5) grow yourself. Every single waking hour of every single day you are living life to become a better version of yourself. That doesn’t mean you can’t eat ice cream and watch Netflix, it means you have to earn that right before doing so. You must work so efficiently and so hard at what you want that when you get tired you can relax wholesomely without a single inkling of a thought about any type of labor, responsibilities, or etc. When you are working, you do so without a single inkling of a thought about resting. You make this a ritual. Productive 1st part of the day, restful 2nd part of the day, every day.
      (6) rid yourself of all relationships with anyone who is not both better than you and works harder than you to succeed. If you are the most hardworking, you embrace the loneliness, and you do not allow people to suck you into their concept of what your life should be, you tell them you are too busy when they invite you to go out or hang out, because you really are… success doesn’t achieve itself.
      (7) every day and every week you consistently self-assess using brutal honesty with yourself. You use a journal to work with your goals, day by day, week by week, overcoming yourself and all obstacles through time. You always work two steps forward one step back.
Then, you get everything you ever dreamed of in life. How do I know? Because I did it. It took me 5 years from being absolutely zero to fully successful (yes, and that includes financial wealth, time and locale freedom, happiness, love, spirit, and family).
Note, however, that unless you change yourself and actually DO what you must, you will NEVER achieve success. Life doesn’t just give people money or freedom or whatever else, you have to fight for it, but it’s not someone else you’re fighting, it is yourself.
Most importantly, EDUCATE YOURSELF ON HOW TO SUCCEED. This is your own responsibility and every single day you should learn something new about life and how to live it better.
      Time is ticking.

My mom had a rather successful jewelry business at a swap meet in Tucson in the 80's. I was in my teens at the time and was big into coins. I had a little section with coins for sale. One day this gentleman from China started a conversation with me and had some Chinese cash coins he wanted to sell. He told me he was at another flee market and one stand had a box of Chinese cash coins marked .25 cents each. Him knowing Chinese (duh) dug threw the box and picked out ones that were more valuable. He purchased them looking to sell them for a few more dollars. I was curious about the certain coins he had with him for sale. Each coin he had written the dynasty and date and emporer. I decided to purchase the coins from him for 30.00 bucks. I took the coins to a professor i knew at the UofA and found out tge Chinese gentleman was 100% telling the truth about the coins history. After researching more two of the coins valued at $350.00 the remaining 18 coins averaged 50-80 bucks each. Im 54 now and still have those coins.

He was not looking for scrap at a flea market though, he was looking for high value items to flip at an antiques market, so having that kind of money is perfectly reasonable. The egg has a lot of gold, and contains a Vacheron Constantin watch inside (one of the major historical Swiss watchmakers), so even not knowing what it was $14k is a very reasonable price to pay.

I dated a half Jewish girl once whose wholly-Jewish mother loved finding Scottish jewelry from the early 1900s, and she would cruise the flea markets all the time looking for pieces. Once, she found a piece she knew for sure was worth at least $150 in a junk bin for like 15 bucks. True to her heritage, despite knowing she was going to make 10 times the asking price, she STILL beat him down to $8.00. No stereotypes…… 😅

Some people were questioning why he bought it for a whole 14,000 dollars, but going by what internet told me is gold's value ($66.39 per gram) it was actually quite appropriate. It had to be only a bit over 200 grams of gold for the price to be worth it purely for the gold.
I also went a little deeper and turns out (according to Wikipedia) that the Third Imperial (the egg in question) was bought for $13,302 in a bric-a-brac market and its gold and gem contents had an estimated value of $15,000. So he had a nifty $1,700 estimated profit (althoug he got a little extra, I imagine).

  • @chunellemariavictoriaespan8752

To be honest, I don't think you guys think of a Normal Flea Market... I think the man went to a specialised flea market, where you can sell second hand antiques that you think might have higher values (Like historical memorabilias from wars, etc.)... Most of these can be considered underground dealings... Though I am not sure I think prices are dealt by both seller and buyer... If the seller knows the detailing is worth 14K and the buyer acknowledges it to be worth of such then it is possible it is of that price.
Besides the man went there to melt gold. Any Gold seller would be suspicious as to why the price is hyped that high, I mean if the man wasn't intrigued why would he pay that much? He could just move on to the next item with way more gold at cheaper prices. No, he knows it may be worth more than 14K. If not then Why would he have to spend time researching and looking for details about what he found? That is to be sure he ain't scammed and thank God he did or we'd be loosing another Faberge egg...
