since it only has 1 knob for Monitor / Phones does plugging the Phones Jack stop transmitting sound from the Monitors? (Apologies new to the game) :)
Awesome video! In case anyone else is wondering, like I was, PFL stands for "Pre-Fader Listen"
I found this very helpful. I am somewhat new to mixers and found the explanation of what the features that are different between the two, and how you could use those features extremely helpful. I know sound guru's would already know these things, but for me it makes an amazing difference in how I understand what to do with a mixer. Thank you!!
So clearly explained and easily understood… thanks a million!
You are so clear, direct and easy to understand. Great Job Jordan!
Thank you so much, great comparison between the two mixers. Your video covered everything and was a main factor in deciding which one to buy!
Thanks again.
Just picked up the MG10XUF from Reverb thanks to your video. Was looking for something decent for hosting open mics, but also something I could use for a long time. The Faders/Channel Mutes sold it for me.
Great comparison of both with different use cases.
I got the MG10XUF for £3 more the the 10UX, so it was a no brainer for me to go for the one with faders, pfl and channel on off.
I've been very happy with my desk for the past 2 years.
Love your videos, Jordan. Keep them coming!
Thank you! Will do!
Man, great video.... I almost bought the Yamaha MG10XU, not knowing the XUF existed. One of my main concerns is the "mute" switch for each channel, (On buttom). I play live (Guitar and cell and two mics), and turning of the mics when it's not a vocal song is really important. Worth the extra cash. The PFL monitor is also very useful for sound check, and the "kill switch". You really brought out the key differences for me and helped with my purchase....thanks a heap, (from Colorado)......
Hi Jordan …. A BIG Thank you from the UK here …so, so helpful
Was about to buy the XU, but having now done our 1st DJ set using 2 Controllers ….. the real benefit of having sliders is we can use 1 hand to easily mix between the chosen controller … hadn’t realised this necessity before. Cheers Bro
Just watched your MG10FU setup video. Qs answered. I'll use controller XLR into mics 3/4. Prefer XLR. I'll use line in as secondary option. Thanks again!
You always answer any questions I may have regarding any equipment I'm interested in. Much appreciated. Great job as always.
Superb 'to-the-point' explanations ~ very useful videos from your channel KC.. Salute!
Thank you for the brilliant explanations! It was helpfull for me!
Love this video could you do as comparison between the YAMAHA MG10XUF Vs MG12XU Beside the extra 2 channel of the MG12XU,please i want to know what difference they got thank you
Love your work and your videos, keep them up I use a Sound-craft Signature 10 Analogue mixer, I’m thinking of getting this mixer for the effects and pre amps, many solo singers rave about these mixers, also they will go well with my Yamaha DXR12. Thank you fab review.
You're welcome. Back when we did rentals, we had 15-20 various Yamaha MG mixers and about 20 x DXR12s. Super solid, completely reliable. Never had any issues with any of it after 6-8000 events.
@@kettnercreative Thank you for your message Jordan, I'm so tempted to get the Yamaha mgx12 Usb, fantastic reviews love your work
Muito boa a explicação. Vejo agora claramente as diferenças (Very good explanation. I can see clearly now the differences)
Brilliant!! Excellent content and presentation. Helped me make my
choice
Love your reviews and tutorials Thank you.
Just subscribed. Your videos are very informative and clear 👍🏻
Welcome aboard!
Helpful, thank-you for the clearly explained video.
Another great video by Jordan, folks!
You are hands down one of the best out there!
Keep up the great work, sir, and thank you so much for the video!
p. s. Would you know how to my connect an android phone via BT to either of these?
You make excellent videos. Thx from a fan in NH🎸🎸🎸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
We have used both, and with two mics and two instruments we prefer using the MG10XUF because we can mute channels and mix better.
Excellent demonstration 👍
Awesome video man
Thanjs so much for the explanations. Iv developed a better understanding and interest on mixers and features listening to your channel.
Does the MG10XUF offer multiple track recording?
Hola Jordan! realmente tu explicación ayudó a tomar una decisición en la elección del modelo MG10XUF, es excelente! Gracias.
You're welcome.
great video, very imformative! thanks
Awesome review thanks😊
I am very thankful for your videos.
Thank you! Great video!
great review! Ty very much
brilliant explanation. thank you so much. extremely useful breakdown
Glad it was helpful!
Good review!
Top review mate thanks 😎🇬🇧
Glad you enjoyed it
Another great video
excellently explained
Very much clearly explained. I just have a question. Do both mixers support multi track usb recording? I have a laptop and cubase pro with me.
Excellent comparison
Thank you Jordan!
Hey Jordan, love the videos. I have a mg10xu - used for my podcast. When running a zoom call online via the USB cable and having audacity running at the same time, a sound distortion occurs. (Screech/fuzzy kind of noise)
Is this due to the fact that we are running the laptop through the USB? And should use your mix minus setup?
Would be greatly appreciated to hear your opinion!
Great Vid. I was tossing up between these 2, and watched all your reviews, but ended up getting the Mackie ProFX10 V3. No faders but mute buttons....a bit more flexible for me. What a mixer!!
Great video! I have a question? Yamaha MG12XU 12 Channel Stereo USB Mixer with Effects and Yamaha MG10XUF 10-Channel Analog Mixer are they the same size?
Do you have a video explaining how to set-up the channels for gaming etc? For the XUF? Would love to watch that!
Hey Jordan, I love your videos!! Based on some of your previous videos I've checked out, I'm planning to buy a Yamaha MG10. I was just wondering if you knew of a way to route one or all of strips 5/6, 7/8 and 9/10 to only the headphone output (and not through the main outs)?
I'm a drummer and route my click into my mixer for easy control of my mix. I also like to film my live performances using the handy Zoom q8 camcorder. I like to plug the L/R Main Outs of my mixer directly into the Zoom q8 combi-inputs but my live click is always mixed down into the Zoom files.
Thanks for your great content!
Thanks for the great comparison! I am just wondering if the effects on the XUF are better than the ones on the XU. Can you respond on this?
Purchased the MG10FUX yesterday based primarily on your reviews and my experience w/Yamaha. Your demos/reviews made the owner's manual much simpler. Question: Regular mobile setup will be SM58s and a Pioneer DJ controller into the Yamaha. Controller has XLR master outs. Do you recommend XLR to unbalanced 1/4" cables into the mixer's Line In? Upcoming outdoor book signing event has my DJ background music, author speaking, and vocalist w/keyboard.
For anyone reading this now, always choose XLR over all other options if you have the choice. It provides a cleaner, balanced signal path than even a balanced 1/4. Even if the XLR must be converted to 1/4 at the other end of the cable, the source path being XLR FIRST will always give you a cleaner, balanced, and louder signal up to 10-15 percent more volume, leaving a lower noise floor for gain staging.
Great video! Im a bit lost when it comes to FX send/return, if i use fx pedal for guitar, please make a video of it i'd really appreciate it...kudos!❤
So basically if you just want to use instrument+mic at home get the XU - since you rarely need to adjust anything once you perfectly setup things for your home. If you got multiple people/Inputs which changes and in a new envoirement = get the xuf.
Thank you for interesting video. To host a simple radio show from home (probably using Mixcloud Pro), I'd need one mic, one phones, one monitor and a hook-up to my laptop to run OBS software and access to Spotify and WMP for the tracks. Dumb questions: how do these units hook up to my laptop; and would these units work for such a show? Thank you!
Thank you for this video. I'm looking for a mixer for a church which is back in session and is live streaming. I'm new to live streaming and the event I recorded for them today didn't sound as good as the in person experience. I had one mic for the Pastor, 1 mic for a singer, one line in for the keyboard 1, line out for audio speaker and all that sent to a iPhone for Facebook live. So no crowd noise or drums/bongos. So it did not sound well. As I re-watch the live stream, as they were hitting the drums, no real sound came out nor was there real crowd noise. Can you recommend a mixer that would help that has compression and I keep hearing it should be a "broadcast mix" separate from the house mix. Which BUDGET ($400) mixer will get me both? Thank you so much.
Thank you very much ❤️❤️
This guy, amazing!
If you turn a channel off on the XUF using the ON button, does it still send to the onboard FX? That's the problem I have with my current Behringer mixer. I can't really turn a channel all the way off with 1 button, because it's till contributing to the FX.
So the PFL buttons are roughly equivalent to SOLO buttons in (most) DAW software systems?
do you know if yamaha sells mixers of this size and range that also work digital with motorized faders from a computer DAWs?
Is this mg10xuf better for streaming with obs than the mg12xu? Because im having some problems with the 12xu because you cant have the mic and computer audio separate in obs without losing the ability to change levels in the headphones
Would like to know which outputs (on XUF) is best for connecting to digital recorder for recording purposes?
Which one would you recommend for live performance (singer & keyboard player)?
i use a MG12xuk for live music in small venues, those places that dont have much room at all. when im in a bigger place, i use a Presonus 16.4.2
I love both boards, mute buttons arent a problem because i have everything go to a mute pedal so i can change what i want on the fly
I see that you're using the Cloudlifter on this yamahas mixers. Does this mean that the mg gain is not enough to push up dynamic mics? would I need to get a Cloudlifter for a Shure SM57/57?
I ask you because I have understood that this mg series have enough gain dBs for demanding mics as Shure SM58/57. Thanks for your accurately made videos. I look for a mixer for recording at my home studio for podcasts with 2 or three mics like a small radio podcasting station both live and recorded. Later I'm gonna add a digital piano. I like the MG10XUF but the question about the microphone preamplifier is important.
Hey! Fairly new to live sound world. I have the MG10UXF but there seems to be no aux output channels for IEMS. Working with a mic and backing tracks only - would I be able to use IEMS with this mixer in a live environment?
Hi Can do review how to setup a sound system using Yahama MG10XU?
I plugged the XLR coming out my xdj-rx3 to channels 3/4 on my yamaha mg10xu mixer and it was peaking and distorting so what is the best way to connect or is there a correct way to unbalanced or should I press the HPF button on the 3/4 don't know can someone help please ?
Thanks .
Also, the MG10’s accept a mic stand adapter while the rest of the Yamaha MG line does not. The Yamaha BMS10A Microphone Stand Adaptor screws right into the underside of the MG10’s making it very versatile and even more portable.
Great point!
Can I mount the mg10xuf to the bms10a?
Edit: no, since the mg10uxf doesn't have the 2 back mounting screws required ,like the mg10ux and mg 06xor something
Thanks for the video comparison. Will you review digital mixer such as the Behringer X Air XR12/18 etc.? Thank you.
Hopefully soon.
@@kettnercreative thank you!!!
thank you so much 😊
You're welcome.
Wait wouldnt phantom power on that dynamic mic potentially mess it up? or are you using a CL? idk if CLs are powered by phantom or external power
Thanks
Hello, i just unpacking my mg10xuf, but it didn't send signal by the Main xlr or Jack, but in the phones i can hear allá. Did i miss something?
I have a external vocal fx, can I connect it and use it as independent?
Hi bro , I have a problem my phone is oneplus nord I buy beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 250 ohm but sound is not loud , So how I can powered 250 ohm With my phone
hi, i´m looking for a mixer to connect my mpc live 2, a drum computer and a synth. which mixer do i need? can you recommend one? would a mg10 work or have i go for a mg12? thx
How can I plug my Samson compressor into my Yamaha MG10XUF 10 Channel Analog Mixer.. This mixer doesnt have an insert jack to plug the compressor into the mixer using a Y cable?
Ta, great vid
Thank you for your presentation, very informative. I like to know why you have a cloud lifter on your mic if the Yamaha mg 10 xuf have phantom power.
Phantom power provides power for the cloudlifter.
Cloudlifter is commonly used to increase the signal while removing unwanted noise correct? Most likely is giving you a warmer, cleaner signal path for your vocals in this video, rather than going direct through the board. Would be interesting to hear how your voice changes with the cloudlifter removed so people can hear what the true color of the phantom power is providing through this particular Yamaha board?
I wish could communicate well like that. Thanks for the info!
Having issues for sound not coming out of the speaker from the mixer I believe. One speaker is working define and the other does not through sound at all. Can u help.
Hey…very clear and informative….thanks. Maybe you should run for president. 😎
I’m Canadian, ahah.
Yamaha MG12XU 12 Channel Stereo USB Mixer with Effects is Dimensions (WxHxD) : 12.1 x 4.6 x 16.6 inches (308 x 118 x 422 mm) and the Yamaha MG10XUF 10-Channel Analog Mixer is Width: 12.1"
Height: 4.6"
Depth: 16.6"
Weight: 9.3 lb. from online that would be the same size. Can you help me.... are they the same size? Thank you in advance
Hi Jason can you help me out I was getting no sound out of the monitor on this mixer the Yamaha mg10xuf I am a Entertainer singer and DJ who like to do the odd live stream now and again as well as my gigs was watching your video did you say the ppl button has to be down to get sound out of the monitor & phones
Great expo.
Hello, I would like to ask of his mixers voltage range?
Which one would be best for DJs?
Hallo. I need help setting up a podcast studio with SZC-300 condensatormicrofoon, and Yamaha MG12XU Analoge USB-mixer. Can you help me set it up?
Ps
Do I need an interface to connect this or thier is no need for one?
Thanks
the mg10xuf is it stereo or analog is it desame analog and stereo mixer pls help me i dont know about mixer
Wow!
A very good and clear explanation. The details can often determine what is important. I think xu12 is the same as xuf10 but with 2 extra channels and 2 extra compressors
I want to buy the 10XUF model of the product in India. But it's very high priced on Amazon. So is there a way I can order it directly from the company...?
Which better for both outdoor live event & recording on my com.
Do mg10xuf plug in with any interface console?
I think we answered this in the video.
Thank you again.
I juste can't makeup my mind between
Yamaha mg10xuf, allen&heath zedi 10fx and mavkie profx10v3
I really want more vocal on board effects and general sound quality .
For home live music.
I heard that you have to crank up the gain a lot more on the Yamaha..
The Yamaha actually has a better preamp than the other two (less gain cranking). But it really depends on what you want to do. The XUF is a pretty sweet mixer, it would be my choice out of those three.
@@kettnercreative thank you so much
Cual sería mejor la MACKIE PROFX10v3 ó la YAMAHA MG 10XUF..???
Can I connect my amp to this mixer???
MG10XUF vs MG12XUF for a 4 piece live band? Anybody help me out? Thanks!
Greetings I have the Yamaha MG10XU and the Alto Bluetooth total MK2 and I'm noticing distortion when I turn my phone up past the first red mark. Is this normal??
Yeah, turn your phone up to 80% or so, and let your audio mixer do the rest.
Is there a way to contact you for a mixer question for a band ? Email by chance or phone ?
In mg10xu how to set gain in stereo channel?
Line level inputs rarely need gain. The level knob is sufficient.
