Seems like everyone that hunts puts out a video telling others what they're doing wrong but you never see that person harvesting any big bucks. Kinda odd that they give advice on something they aren't good at. Your info is good & I appreciate it.

Completely agree, altho I do sit in open hardwoods and see many deer all the time. But thats because its a narrow strip, about 40 yards wide, between a swamp and a food source. Sit about 15 yards off either depending on the wind.

Good deal. That’s a unique circumstance you’ve got going on there.
I would imagine that after one or two sits, the deer have things figured out though too.

      Thanks!
I'm surprised you'll be scouting soon.
Here in Wisconsin, if we don't scout by mid May, the woods is too think, humid and full of bugs.
      Must be different by you.

      Hey thanks, Matt!
You have a GREAT opportunity to hunt in Iowa. That's a gem state for sure. I'd love to hunt there sometime. Future trip/adventure????

Really enjoy watching your videos. I just turned 50 and know a few things about deer hunting. 1. You LEARN by your mistakes and success is earned over time. 2. Hunting 80% Public Land in MI, I've learned that you must Scout and Adapt to human pressure. I've hunted some great public land in Southern MI. Years ago, I would be the only one out there and I've killed some nice bucks. Back then, people didn't scout because it was too much work to do it...it took time and effort. Now with the age of OnX, guys can easily get on their phones and "check out" a spot. Today, I'm at a point where I'm getting pushed out of these top spots because other hunters are finding them too. The problem is, these guys are over hunting them and at the wrong times of the season. Like you said, a spot that was successful yesterday, may not work today. We must adapt as hunters. Keep up the great content!

      Well said, Mark!
Agreed - OnX has changed everything for hunting. It's been interesting to see just in the past few years, where people have been hunting and not hunting. Michigan is a tough state too. So getting a decent deer with all the pressure is quite the task.

Great job and sound advice for sure! Yes, I'm a five-decade deer hunter who started as a rifle and shotgun hunter. I'm awful at any type of archery hunting and the crossbow has yet to help me score. I'm afraid you're spot on, I'm committing the sins of a long-time rifle hunter. In fact, secretly I long for the opening day of shotgun season. Even on private land this season I've struggled to find out where the dear are, and I keep going back to where I've seen the in past seasons. Well, hopefully, the rut will pick up and make some changes for me! Next time out, I'll be looking for nasty cover!

      I appreciate your honesty.
I wish I would have started off bow hunting.
Since I started, it's made me soooo much better and it's helped me a lot when hunting with a rifle.
Good luck with the rut. Always an exciting time!
      Thanks for watching.

@@RelentlessSportsman Appreciate your taking the time to reply so promptly as well. I shared your video with some of my hunting buddies on "Hangouts" and some of them are CZcams creators as well. Here's one comment about local (suburban/urban hunting)...."Yeah, he has good points, but I’m sick and tired of everyone talking about buck bedding areas and food sources as if it is so cut and dry. Many of the areas I hunt on Long Island are a mono-culture surrounded by houses, not ag fields, and bedding/food are intermixed..." He has a good point, often times they're one in the same.
