- Japanese Beetles are starting to nibble on my trees. PLEASE be sure and read the label rates of each product. Bugs Are Eating My Trees - Japanese Beetles. I am taking a 4 step approach here...
1 - Bifenthrin: This is the "contact" portion which will disrupt the beetles nervous system causing death soon after. www.lawnandpes...
2 - Imidacloprid: "Systemic"...meaning it works from the inside of the tree. www.lawnandpes...
3 - FloraGreene: 4-0-2 Fertilizer with Humic Acid..Trees love this stuff!
gciturfacademy...
4 - Natural Adjuvant: This is the key to the entire mix. This will allow the Bifenthrin to enter the beetle faster for a quicker kill. Natural Adjuvant will help the Imidacloprid and the FloraGreene to be absorbed by the tree faster. gciturfacademy...

I like your personality, hard work, dedication, and you're videos provide a lot of good information/tips that everyone can learn from. Keep it up, God bless.
I was told by the horticulture professor at the local tech college that you should rinse 3 times. Im glad we're on the same page Mr. Pete. Your crepe myrtles are looking fantastic.
Pete you should wear a face mask, we want you to be around for a long time. Smile,
The beetle bags work great. I have used them for the last 5 years with no problems.
I treat my bug issues on my tree through root injection. Then spray leaf with dish water soap. Trees has very green leaf with no bugs.
D S how do you treat through root injection?
How about hands sanitizer. I have a lots of it!
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to do this!
Just picked up a strom sprayer from the academy website last week. Used it for tree/shrub applications and was very impressed at its capability. Sure beats loading up the 200 gallon skid when you just have a handful of jobs to do. A real time saver compared to hand pumping. Pretty comfortable too!
Yes I’m picking up what your putting down!!👍
Pete, you don’t need to spray underneath the leaves. The leaf will absorb the mixture and be undesirable for insects. 👍🏽
True. To a certain extent. What if the plant has aphids on the bottom side of the leaf that I need the solution to come in direct contact with? Would I also get double the absorption from each leaf if it’s on the top and bottom. Something to think about friend. 😎. Thank you for the comment
I know everyone is already saying it but Pete, please please please use full PPE when spraying higher than waist level. I know us guys like to think we’re invincible, but please think about your wife and kids losing you before your time. I work for an insurance company and all I do is process cancer claims. You would not believe how many leukemia, lymphoma, and lung cancer cases I see from people that are employed with pest control and lawn care companies. It has completely changed my mind on PPE. I used to work pest control spraying Talstar every day and I never wore a mask or eye protection. Now I wear a full protection suit if spraying chemicals over waist level. I probably look like an idiot wearing that out in the summer heat of Georgia, but it might be saving my life.
We all care about you and we don’t want anything to happen to you.
I like wearing a ridiculous amount of PPE I think other people see you wearing all that and they just get jealous
Looks like a pretty typical applicator to me. Drift the crap everywhere and pretend its harmless.
GCI ships their items fast. I bought Carbon X and received it in 2 days.
Great info Pete. I was actually shocked at the pressure from that Strom 😳 I have a 60psi Agrico and it doesn't seem to flow as well as the Strom.
Agreed. I use a combination of Listerine mouthwash(brown), tobacco tea, and lemon scented dish soap for my anti bug solution. It’s cheaper and solves the problem. Spay everything (grass, flowers, vegs, trees, shrubs) every two weeks.
Hi Kevin, does that work on trees that these tiny bugs come to and spray like some kind of sugary substance like stuff all over the rock garden around the tree! I can see some on almost every leaf! I don't want to kill the tree!
Hey Pete,
I’ve had some good results with pulling the crepe myrtle suckers all the way back to the base. Then using a pruning seal to cover up the damage. It hasn’t completely stop all the suckers but it has made a huge difference. When I was cutting the suckers they came back every year. You could also try bonide sucker punch on those crepe myrtle suckers.
Nice video! Thanks!
Well ain't that a pisser! I almost made first. Haha Great videos Pete. I took your advice and spring seeded my shady front yard in TTTF and couldn't be happier with the results.
Hey Pete! as a turf guy turned phc guy, its awesome to see you do some plant health care related stuff! Been looking all over youtube for GCI/TGF type stuff for the plant healthcare side of things but cant seem to find anyone. Keep it up!!
Yes..I'm picking up what your putting down😎. Waiting on invis tag system.
As always great info, Pete.
Can't wait for the video on the invisa tag system! We are being invaded by the Japanese Beetle this year and our trees and plants are suffering.
Tip:
The imidacloprid had no effect on people and pets in the context of immediate toxicity. The pyrethroid component of the tank mix will kill a cat (not dogs) with minimal exposure. All you with outdoor kitties, make sure the everything is fully dry or about 24 hours post exposure you will have a sad day.
No, I'm not a bleeding heart environazi; I take care of these little guys for a living (DVM).
Thanks for not being an environmental not see nothing worse than someone who can see the soul in all things living but denies the one within themselves and their true connection to that & Beyond
What are you spraying?
Pete - what do u think about systemic insecticide?
thanks Pete.
I missed your into Pete! It’s not a big deal but it does make my day LOL. I have some sort of white flakey bugs in my otherwise healthy arborvitaes in the back. And something else that ate half of one of my boxwoods in the front. Any recommendations?? Thanks as always
Hello, we have some 40-50ft tall trees in the backyard, infested with caterpillars. What's the maximum vertical height can this sprayer reach? Also, could you give me the model number of the sprayer for ease of search?
Wish you would explain more about the natural adjuvant
Hey there Pete is the N-EXT products from you available to DYI in Idaho or does state laws prevent anyone from these products being shipped here I can't seem to get any answers
I have a question pete would you use the same spray on an apple tree (gala apple) if it makes a difference knowing
Pete, is the Imidacloprid you're using basically the same as Dominion 2L ???
... looking forward to more videos on that invisi-tag product. How did those KWIK-KUT I think it was called that you picked up after the GIE last year? Did those work out ok? Still working out ok? Thoughts?
We thankfully didn't have to spray out trees or bushes this year
Pete, I saw your ingredients of your shrub & tree mix in the description above, but I did not see how much in what proportions were to be used in a two gallon sprayer. The two chemicals are probably shown on the product labels, but what about the Floragreen and the Natural Adjuvant amounts/proportions in a two gallon spayer?
Which insecticide you reccomend to put down In lawn Is One better then the other ?
Pete, thanks for the info. What kind of evergreens are those?
No flowers this year?
Should be wearing a mask bro
How about mixing a tank cleaner after herbicides?
Thanks
Pete, regarding carbon x .... I’m in Chesapeake, Va is it okay to apply to healthy lawn now or should I wait until late Sept / Oct to put down? Also how much water to water in is recommended?
Hey pete is this the 4gallon sprayer you're using or the 2.5 gallon? Thanks!!
Pete when I click on the link it takes me to a webpage with 2 different types of Biferin. Which one am I supposed to choose?
Can you use the floragreene on fruit trees???
Pete...is there other methods of spraying for bugs besides the use of a backpack sprayer if you don’t own one?
Scootdawg I’m sure you could use a hose end. But you may have to split the products so it doesn’t clog
I sprayed the tree and shrub package on my teddy bear southern magnolia and it’s loosing dozens of leaves every day! Help?? Turned the tree branches black and leaves are turning yellow and falling. What should I do?
Dmitriy Bondar email me some pictures contact@gciturfacademy.com
Maybe I missed it, somehow, but what insecticide are you using on the trees? Thx
it's listed in the description
Save the bugs
But they were eating his marijuana tree
We gonna be eating to bugs from what the WEF says.
