Vince Young single handedly won the national championship game against USC, was named rookie of the year in the NFL, made a couple pro bowl teams, the cover of Madden football one year, and had a pretty impressive record as a starter. Not to say he didn't have issues.

He didn't have a team around him. Had they held onto him, let him continue to grow as a starter, the titans would've been a powerhouse but they refused to build a team around Vince Young.

He played at a small private school called Evangel in North Louisiana that started in class 2A his Freshman year then was winning 5A state titles in the super dome against huge schools like West Monroe by his senior year. They kept going up to the next level because there was no competition in the smaller classes. Evangel was the first school in this region to run a 4 and 5 wide shotgun formation every single play. Great content. Brodie Croyle (just to ad to the story), his father, John Croyle, was an all-American defensive end at the University of Alabama under the legendary Paul "Bear" Bryant. This had a major impact on Brodie's decision to attend Alabama. John Croyle (Brodie's father), is another whole story all it's own. Upon graduating the University of Alabama, instead of going to the NFL, John decided to open a Christian home for abused and neglected children in 1974, called Big Oak Boys Ranch. I’ll forget the two games he played but didn’t start, that leaves him throwing for 169 yards a game. He wasn’t good. He was out of the league in 6 years. Tell me if a guy has all the tools and is so talented, how is he out of the league in 6 years after being the 3rd overall pick? I know, it’s Jeff Fisher. Jeff didn’t want him, I believe that. I also don’t blame him. He wasn’t that good. When I say he is a scrub I am COMPARING him to other NFL level QBs. What else would I compare him too? Out of the league in 6 seasons instead of getting backup gigs and show casing all that talent. The NFL doesn’t ignore talent unless you beat women. I don’t remember him beating any women. The NFL let him go because Vince Young on a stacked college team in the NCAA with 10 stacked teams that are a cut above everyone else wasn’t good once he left the dream team. For his career he threw more INTs than TDs, and he threw 42 in 6 seasons. He is a scrub. All verifiable.

The high school I coach at will sometimes have 20 recruiters at any given practice.
We almost always have a few 4 star recruits and more than a few other D1 prospects on our team. But 40? At a single practice? That is absolutely crazy.

You have to remember it was 2003 at the time with Brock Berlin. He played in a shotgun offense in high school. At Miami Larry Coker true shoehorning him into his pro style offense. He would struggle until Miami had to throw the ball in the second half. Today teams change up their offense for quarterbacks or the qb cigars a school that runs an offense that fits them.

Sam Huard is the son of Damon Huard, who was a starter at Washington and a backup in the NFL. He was on two Patriots championship teams. Also Damon's brother Brock started at Washington. Sam didn't look great this year, but the offense was terrible all year period. With their new coach Kalen DeBoer being much more offensive-minded, there's hope for Sam to turn things around.

Stafford is a hell of a lot better than you gave him credit for. He's the fastest quarterback ever to reach 40,000 yards passing. Actually correct that he was the fastest ever to reach 20,000, 30,000, 40,000, and 45,000 yards passing. He threw for over 5,000 yards one season. He made a pro bowl, took the lions to the playoffs several times and was named to the Lions All Time Team. I'm willing to bet that he will also make the Pro Football Hall of Fame after it's all said and done. Oh yeah I almost forgot he had the highest single season completion percentage of 67.2%. Hes a lot better than just alright.

Nobody can be like Tebow was coming out of HS. I just moved to Jacksonville, and my freshman year was his Sr. His High school was on the outside of the city so I figured they were one of the schools in the area (in which there were several) that had money and their campus, stadium and facilities looked like a college’s, but their actual team wasn’t that good…I was quickly informed, “they got Tebow” so during a jamboree I saw Tebow take a qb draw up the middle, breaking a tackle from every single member of the defense. It looked dumb. Like it was a video game and their tackle eating was 25 and his break tackle rating was 99. I’m a Georgia fan, so knowing he was going to Florida, i knew he was going to be a problem.

Matt, (big Clausen fan and one of my profs back in the day is a Domer so he was on the Clausen train).
100% right about him playing at Oaks Christian he was on a stacked team and yes he got the “Lebron of college football” hype.
Where the “cockiness” came from Charlie Weis tried to treat him the same way he did Brady Quinn, not realizing that Quinn was a legit starting QB in attitude and preparation. Clausen was a little more flash.
Clausen’s first big announcement at ND was him showing up in a limo with his HS rings acting like he was just coming to take over.
Also in 07 he got busted for driving someone who was drunk and transporting booze (kid’s stuff, no mention if he had drank so not a dui). He also had an incident where he got punched in south bend while out with his family. I don’t know how annoying he was, but if you’re the staring QB at Notre Dame and still get punched in the face, you probably made a bad decision.

I played against this guy all four years in HS. That 2006-2007 OCHS team was stacked with at least 11 D1 starting players. Clausen had a terrible attitude while on the field and gave no respect to anyone off the field. That team was notorious for running up the score on any teams they played too. Zero sportsmanship.

So he had to take the last resort and sign with an FCS program”. FCS is formally Division 1-AA so Bomar signing with an FCS program would only mean that the 1-A (FBS) programs didn’t offer him but he didn’t even have to entertain Division II schools.
