The True Blue Scouts sounds adorable. I’ll add this one to my TBR too 😂💜

Thank you for telling us that Winslow the donkey lives! I've been avoiding reading this one because I usually read children's books when I need to have a "comfort read", so now I know that it's "safe" to read this one. 😊

You read quite a bit in March! Saving Winslow sounds cute. I’m rather nostalgic about The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, as it’s a book I grew up reading in the late sixties and early seventies. You’re right, the plot is not particularly new, (especially seen in hindsight from 2024), but I think Joan Aiken’s narrative prose style and the ominous mood she evokes are what makes this book so special for me. The children in their long coats running away over the snowy hills!

I wish I would have read it as a child! 🤗
It has a fairytale quality to it. I liked it - it just wasn’t surprising or unpredictable as an adult!

Lovely Video! Some very cool books on this list. I love how you said "you guys know your own kids...I had to laugh as it is so true! The Holocaust book looks amazing. Unfortunately for me March was a bit of bad reading month for me as far as middle grade, except for an out-of-print book that I just finished. But I read a great , young adult/adult classic. Have a great day!!

It is true! Every kid is so different. My youngest has always been okay with hard subjects or scary things but my oldest is still not ok reading or watching things that are scary & hard! (She is 35!) 😂
MGM wasn’t super successful for me either but I did have a couple redeeming reads! Thank goodness 😅
Tree of life was very precious.
Oooo! Heather, I love when you find out of print books to tease me with 😅 I can’t wait to hear about it!

You read an impressive amount of middle grade books! My favorite read of the month was The Probability of Everything - it was so intense for a middle grade but so good.

Most of the time it’s a safe bet that the titular character lives in a middle grade. But there seems to be a slew of books out there that that is not the case. I would hate for someone not to read it because they don’t want heartbreak 💔🥰
