I am a conservative, and I like watching a lot of Maher... A sensible person on the other side. We currently have too many people on the far left and far right dictating our nation... The people in the middle that can find common ground to fix issues in our country are the ones we need making decisions.

Out of all the others, Warren is the best shot but even then, wont be surprised if Trump is re-elected over her.
Biggest problem is, instead of focusing on this and choosing a direction and going all in, they'll end up eating each other, losing, and then the media and the ultra left will just scream and cry: 1) racism 2) misogyny 3) patriarchy 4) evil white man, while the entire party is lost beneath them

One day you’ll be all grown up and wonder how you ever thought that leftist politics had any basis in reality. They are racist. They are sexist. They are Anti-Democracy; they work under the guise that they care more about your well being. They don’t. The media does not want you to be informed. Partisan political banter and war feed the fire. They want to go to war in Iran. They want the ratings. The dems want the vote. They’ll do and say anything to get it.

In a hopelessly dysfunctional personal relationship, it doesn't matter how many times you do the right thing because the other person will only ever remember your mistakes. And those are most of the people crying offense and demanding apologies.
If I take out the garbage every day for a month, and forget on day 31, that's not a problem in a normal relationship. But in the dysfunctional relationship I'll hear 'you NEVER take out the garbage!' Now I have a systematic problem with not taking out the garbage.
Anger is natural, because the natural thought is that these people have to be lying when they see things this way, but the depressing thing is that people like this can be totally sincere. Which means they're delusional. I don't know how you handle delusional people, but trying to appease them is fucking impossible, especially when the problem is rooted in trauma. Which is a lot of the howling based on accusations of bigotry.
Trauma does not necessarily give you an enhanced perspective on the source of the trauma: often it's an exaggerated and distorted perspective. If you got menaced by a dog as a child it's understandable that you'd be afraid of dogs today ... but no, that dog didn't threaten you just now, and that dog or its owner shouldn't suffer any consequence because nothing bad happened. And we should all say that nothing bad happened rather than normalizing and enabling the disordered person who thinks they are threatened when nothing bad happened.

If they have a fault, it's theirs, whereas when the president has a fault, it's everyone else's. We are never going to get a perfect candidate, because we are all human, but let's at least try and get a candidate that will, for the most part, do the job, rather than allow a man whose idea of victory is barely keeping the office running to be let back in. It’s legitimate to call out Democratic candidates for not living up to Democratic values because that’s how we determine what Democratic values actually are. That’s what the primary process is all about. And that’s why you need lots of candidates so the party doesn’t split into two factions that become so angry with each other that they withhold their support for the nominee in November. And this is exactly the time when all of the dirt on the candidates SHOULD come out because this is when we’ll find out which of these issues are dealbreakers that will fracture the party or give the GOP ammunition in their attack machine - and it will only help each candidate to formulate their responses to attacks now, well before the contest begins.
I will definitely vote for the Democratic nominee in November 2020, but yes I would prefer a candidate who both shares my priorities and who will be able to win the Electoral College. It’s not “eating our own” to debate which candidates are best suited to represent the party.

    Bernie did nothing wrong.
But yeah, it's fine to find flaws in any of the candidates, but if you think for a second that you shouldn't support any of them against Trump in 2020 well... to take a page out of the moral absolutism playbook, you're complicit in whatever damage Trump does. Harris and Gillibrand are probably my least favorite of the current crop, but I'd still vote for either one of them.
I just hope whoever wins runs a better campaign than Hillary did.

I think it’s okay to be picky during the primaries but once a candidate is nominated it’s time to overlook the small stuff and focus on what’s more important

That's apparently what happened in 2016. I figured the bragging pussy grabber remarks would have been quite enough to disqualify THAT candidate. If not that, then the entire life history being in the public record - the failures, the schemes, the bullshit, all of it. But even that wasn't enough. And here we are.

"Elizabeth Warren claimed to be Native American. So what?" The hypocrisy here is the funniest part.

Clue 1: get beyond microscopic vision. (Basically what Bill suggested.) Get over yourself.

from an outsider perspective (I'm mexican) I laughed when the whole Pocahontas stuff went on. She auto-sabotaged herself in a way. Now you could argue that that proves she's untrustworthy, but from my perspective she was trying to score brownie points and made a terrible strategy decision. Still, it's a stupid thing to drop her for that alone.

Many white Americans have native American in them. Probably from family oral history, they mentioned it each generation without considering that in each generation that trait gets cut in half. So she was probably just misinformed by her older relatives about how much she really has. But she got it checked out to clarify and went public with it. So people need to get over it.
